U of C Bypass?
Supposedly last weekend, the brand new trauma center at University of Chicago was on full bypass pretty regularly. Anyone know how often and for how long? Because we're sensing another busy weekend coming up - see above for the predictions.

If the poleec would just stop shooting unarmed black boys and men, there would be no need for a trauma center. Statistical analysis done by demagnetized graduates of magnet skiols prove this hypothesis.
I don't think they fully understood what they were getting into.
It was a trama center desert for a reason.
Could it be simply because it is brand new and they need to iron the bugs out?
They may have wanted to run slow until they get the bugs worked out?
Just like police work, when the doctors and nurses mess up, people can die.

It was for a few hours overnights, the night shift leaves a lot to be desired and part of it is the poor management of the ER. They still want to keep "resuscitation" (can't label them trauma) beds open for medical cases. So when a patient who might be waiting an hour or more for an ICU bed takes up that trauma bed that's one less trauma patient they can take. That's what was happening a lot because the ER had no other monitored beds available. Some trauma patients are just in and out if they see it's a through gunshot to the leg, but per protocol anything above the knee must go to a trauma center. They make most of the money in the complex stroke and cardiac cases with research and rehab so they can't risk giving that case up for a trauma. It's a 6 trauma bed ER that should be 3.
They had approx 3 beds occupied in that new and spiffy trauma center one day I was in their and you should have seen them scrambling like headless chickens.... they have no idea what’s waiting for them this coming weekend. Maybe this weekend will break them in and possibly then they’ll be prepared for summer.
As long as you keep the Great Unwashed away from the hospitals near my pretty loft, I am happy.

This is no surprise. Did you really think the U of C was going to take a full part as a Chicago trauma team member?
They don't want dude bleeding all over their ER while his family tears up the waiting area. Sure, they will take a few but they exist in case Professor Lance experiences "discomfort" or his wife Muffy has an "anxiety attack" after watching a Trump press conference.

The foreskin of medicine spends on average 71% of the year on bypass, and that was before they picked up a trauma center that will only place a larger burden on them. That place is an over-run shithole now. With the closure of Doctors Hosp in Hyde Park, Chicago Osteo, “Providence” (Provident) in the last 15 years, they have had to pick up all of that slack without increasing in size.
Hospitals have got to stop doing clinic work. Too many in the E.R. for non-emergency stuff. Tummy ache nonsense or minor scratches shouldn't be tying up space there. (or illegal alien healthcare either)
They do the same thing Northwestern and Illinois Masonic do, they get sick of dealing with the hypes and the personal drama bullshit and the "suicidal" pissbums that eventually they say, "enough', shift some beds around and say "sorry, no more room". And they can get fined for not really being out room,but they got those big endowments that allow them to look at the "communerties" the profess to be so compassionate about and say "go fuck yourselves, scumbags".
Every Trauma center in the city goes on by pass several times a day.

The get one gunshot victim regardless of condition and put themselves on bypass. Great trauma center huh?
It will become known as the U of C By-Pass Trauma Center and it is not because they fix clogged arteries. And, there might be a few bugs, but they are the crawling kind that arrived by hitching a ride on a "patient". Fun times!

They had no clue. They thought they were coming to be a "Community Hospital" treating the ill and accidental victims of traumatic incidents. Never did they expect this level of hoodlum generated mayhem and constant flow of catastrophic events, most of which are and will be paid on the taxpayer dime too. All those criticalities and very few are/will be paying. They will overextend for a while, and then either go belly-up, or turn into the another shithole just trying to get through on the payments of public aide and decreasing benefactor dollars. They'll hit bypass status twice a day starting this weekend and stay that way until after Halloween. The trauma docs and nurses there will be equal to or better skilled than combat vets, but will soon be overwhelmed and short of equipment and supplies. Welcome to the hood UofC, welcome to the hood.

Now days ER doctors are well trained in weeding out "drug seekers". If anything, they can be stingy with giving narcotics for legitimate pain. Of course, this city has more than enough heroin for the addicts anyways.

How long did it take The U of C to accept adult trauma? These hypocritical fools are not, have never been or will ever be interested the community sludge that surrounds them. These UC snowflake fools dictate policy for education but don't educate the ghetto children that surround them.
Now they have a trauma center. They don't want any bleeding gangbangers soiling their marble towers. Are you kidding!
This a select Trauma center. The real trauma center is Christ and other less affluent hospitals. These jokers get to pick and choose/ Bypass.
At the old Cook County we would get all they "Bypasses" from Rush. Rush put a bandaid and gurneed them across the street to The County end of story.
Going on bypass is no surprise.
