Stay Aware

  • An off-duty Chicago police officer was injured Thursday morning during an attempted carjacking on the South Side where he opened fire at the suspect and was able to disarmed him before he fled, police said.

Shortly after 10:15 a.m., a suspect attempted to carjack an off-duty officer in the 7500 block of Champlain Avenue in the Chatham neighborhood, police said.

The officer fired one shot at the suspect, and a struggle ensued and the officer was able to disarm him. The suspect was not struck and fled through an alley, officials said.

    The suspect’s firearm was recovered.
Good job Officer. Best wishes on a speedy recovery.

Lol, what's in these guys minds to still live in a shithole. Move to a lesser shithole side of the city. Can't say a good side, Alderscum Rena is ensuring there is not a part of the city that ain't fucked... Hey Rena, 005 has plenty of spots and empty lots to move these fine citizens too. You can drop 100k to get the ground broke

Chatham was a nice neighborhood filled with good working people for a long time. Sad to see what it’s becoming. Glad the officer is okay.

Never did here if PO lost gun and badge in downtown mugging last week. Bet he did because nothing being said. Better change rules and leave your weapons at station. They don't seem to be doing much food when your off duty.

This really bothers me as a "civilian". Always has. Certain parties in this state wants us all unarmed and for decades we were thanks to the likes of the Daley Democratic machine. It wasn't always so, but really increased after the 1968 GCA was passed and the 1970 Illinois Constitutional Convention. What really worries us is that if the police themselves are not safe, what chance do us regular Joe's have? All we have ever asked for is a fighting chance. Daley and his cronies denied us that. Finally we have CCW (last in the nation) which helps, but it is still somewhat limited. And now the gun grabbers are at it again. I have an extended middle finger salute for all of them. Stay safe everyone. Support the NRA and ISRA. Get trained. Practice and keep your wits about you.

Hey Mr. Southside guess Englewood is not on Southside. Your profile says it all with your " what are books"comment. There is a reason rivers flow south, to get all the shot away from northside.
