Room 302 Follies

This asshole needs to be removed:
  • Judge Hooks in room 302 at 26th Cal had all the police officers check their guns in before coming into "his" courtroom today. If they didn't comply with "his" order, he had the Sheriffs remove the police officers. I never agreed with the disarming officers at Markham and Bridgeview. If you're the police and working (court), why disarm officers and put them in harms way and make them an easy target. The entire courthouse is filled with defendants that hate the police and it wouldn't take much for things to go sour with officers having no means in defending themselves from weapons used against them. I think we have all seen the lack of security at these courthouses and how unsecure the weapons check in areas are at times as well. Now we have to deal with leftie lib judge that is no fan of the police disarming us at 26th Cal? I know the courts are a different entity but I hope our union and the department step up to the plate and get involved.
They've tried this before, and with all the cutbacks to personnel that Dart has been making, there's no way to guarantee Officer Safety by relying on an undermanned Sheriff Department. Is the FOP going to address this?

Not that difficult to circumvent the judges. Markham changed to no guns years ago, but I've still had a gun with me always. Carry a small revolver or little 380 in your front pocket. Nobody would ever know.

Simple, avoid making arrests, remain fetal. Carry your gun everywhere, and if someone tells us we can't be armed, don't go there, just stay out of that court room. That's what these lib's want, to disarm the police and law abiding citizens. Fuck them, I'm armed all the time. I'll pack my 380 in my pocket and have a combat folding knife.

Golden shower Dart, stated that he had nothing to do with stopping at IROC cards for retired officers. The real truth is he is on the Illinois Law Enforcement government board with no law enforcement experience whatsoever. The deputy sheriff's have a federal lawsuit against Dart in court to get their IROC cards and he's been battling this with taxpayers money wasting it the fight this. The deputy sheriff's have made arrest so if he's saying they're not peace officers then all the rest are invalid and those cases should be brought back to court and have the sentences reversed.

This is an issue where the Supt and/or FOP needs to contact Chief Evans and put a stop to this. Until then carry a backup or don’t go. His court room sounds like a hostile work environment. 26th is not a secure place. It’s filled with violent people and the Sheriffs aren’t paying attention at the security checkpoint. Their low morale doesn’t help either.

Although I don't agree with this judge, he is perfectly within his power to give such an order, and Iwould not be surprised if this becomes a court wide order, as it is in many other jurisdictions. It is common in many large cities for all police officers to check their weapons when entering the court house. If you walk out and refuse to attend court because of this I really do not think that you would win that position with the department.

To be a judge in crook county is easy, you or/and your friends pay off ward committeeman, appear before him'her mostly him and they put you on ballot and keep passing around the literature and try to have voters vote you in,after that you "contribute" and keep your direct line open when your summoned to meet with your sponsor and told what the outcome of the cases in front of him will be!

Live in the 14th ward where Eddie ruined the 23rd ward and took more in to get some more white votes and he has kids walking around with early voting forms, the mail in style going door to door asking if you want to "vote by mail" and hand them the forms on the spot! No collusion there right? Just another reason I am proud to be a Republican and voted for Trump!!

It seems not to matter who we put in there (Shields, Dougherty, Angelo, or our current useless resident Graham), once they get in, they sit back, do absolutely nothing, until PO's begin screaming about problems. Then they take one or two weeks to "develop" their strategy and react. Now it's 3 0r 4 weeks AFTER the problem arises, which has already been set in stone.

Not saying you’re wrong but this is by design. Judge anticipates coppers doing that, as I would, motion granted. It’s just like the game defense plays having you wait all day or victim come in over and over. The day you or victim can’t make it, defense goes. If you show up from another room or work, they push for another date. Then you get to have a fun time explaining your absence at your federal lawsuit when shithead beats the case. It’s all bullshit. Court is laced with judges allowing these games to be played. I say it’s corruption of the bench. Another reason why the vast majority of us don’t do a damn thing anymore.

Have you ever wondered how many of these judges have a concealed weapon under their robes?

Get a small barreled handgun and a pocket or ankle holster.

The hell with the judges!

Officer safety comes first!

Im a Deputy who use to work at 26th cal a few years ago. We don’t require any outside agency officers to check their weapons. We simply don’t have enough lock boxes to secure that amount of weapons. Their is just enough boxes and a few extras for Sheriff personal and that’s it. Hundreds of officers are in and out of 26th cal daily. Suburban courthouses don’t have that high amount of officers come in at any given time. Granted it is order from the judges for those courthouses but when feasible. So he can kick rocks. Those judges act like their decendants of royality in how their bark and demand orders. The heaviest of clout lawyers, simple as that. And if your concerned with being attacked don’t look scared while in the elevators or hallways. If they get crazy, smash their ass right away. You won’t get in trouble, any working cameras are to catch Sheriff staff commuting “policy violations” so the lawyers can fire us per the Sheriff himself. If you want a shitbag free elevator ride walk towards the last steel freight elevator on the right hand side a few feet past the elevators and ride that up. That’s the one the Sheriff peersonal uses so we don’t have that issue.

You are technically on duty when you go to court and can not be forced to disarm yourself. If the judge tries to do this, politely tell him to go fuck himself and walk out. Then check the cash box.

What do you mean technically? I’m on days and when I go to court I’m on duty, not just technically.

Don’t be a wiseass. You know what the original poster meant.

you don't have to check your gun, but if you don't then the judge wont let you in the room. The whole purpose for being in his room was to show a police presence. I checked my gun and attended.

Some judges got to be worth voting for and some not.

Make them work for our votes.

We need to make a list of those worth voting for. If they think we don't vote or will vote against all of them then there is no incentive for them to act well on our behalf.

Anyone remember Lt. Crosset Hamilton? When he was a Detective, long ago, an offender stole an officer's gun inside a courtroom at 26th and Cal. Get. Hamilton was outside this particular Courtroom and heard shots coming from inside. He positioned himself in a position of cover in the hall and observed who was coming out. He saw the offender exit the courtroom with a gun in his hand. Det Hamilton dispatched this offender quickly to the promised land with a S&W .41 magnum an close range. It made quite a mess I heard.

That's why police need to be armed all the time.

You do not know what you are talking about. Typical, just pass on some old CPD folklore or urban legend Read below and get educated. Voters are asked the sole question of whether a judge should be retained for another term. The judge needs 60% of THE VOTERS VOTING ON THE QUESTION

Do you get it now, you have to vote on the question and if you don’t vote it counts for nothing. Pretty easy to understand

Judicial Retention: At the end of the term of Supreme, Appellate and Circuit judges, each may file a declaration of candidacy to succeed himself. The names of the Judges seeking Retention are submitted to eligible voters in the appropriate Supreme and Appellate Court District for retention of Supreme and Appellate Court Judges, and in the appropriate Judicial Circuit or county for retention of Circuit Judges. Judges seeking retention are listed on the ballot separately and without party designation. Voters are asked the sole question of whether each Judge should be retained in office for another term. An affirmative vote of three-fifths (60%) of the electors voting on the question elects the Judge to the office for another term.

He is an embarrassment to the Marine Corps.

After joining the U.S. Marine Corps in 1975, Hooks spent 10 years in active duty, serving in a variety of national service positions and as defense counsel. In 1985, Hooks continued his service in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, retiring in 1995 at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.[2]

--------

Yup, total POG. Look at his assignments. He was an office bitch in uniform. Still an embarrassment but I would be way more surprised if he had an MOS that required balls.

Quit fucking whining. This isn’t anything new. I’m not saying it’s right, but it’s been done before in Chicago. Anyone ever attend Domestic Violence court on Harrison or the old Michigan Ave building? Anyone attend certain courts at the Daley Center? Anyone attend court in Skokie? Unfortunately for all of us, the courts make the rules. It’s not an FOP issue. It’s not contractual. Wear CD if you don’t want to sit in court without a gun while in uniform. I’ve done it for about 20 years now. Never been challenged.

Re: Crossette "Lee" Hamilton's fatal shooting of armed escapee Gene "The Iceman" Lewis.

Get your facts straight about Lee's heroism. Lewis did NOT snatch the gun from a P.O. The weapon was smuggled into the Court House in a cut-out book by a female.

Lee passed away at his home in LaPorte, IN in December, 2016. A gentleman and an outstanding officer, may he rest in peace.

You can read about his heroic action in the June, 1971 issue of the CPD Star Magazine. Lee is pictured on the cover.

You have no idea what u r talking about. They only count the votes of the voters who answer the question of whether the Judge should be retained. With yes or no vote. If you don’t vote nothing gappens

OH Deputy Attacked in Court, Fatally Shoots Teen

January 18, 2018
A deputy fatally shot a 16-year-old in an Ohio courtroom when a fight broke out involving the teen, his family, and the officer on Wednesday, a sheriff's office investigator said. The teen, Joseph Haynes, was struck once in the abdomen during the fight.

The incident began as an early afternoon hearing concluded in a domestic relations courtroom in Columbus, said Rick Minerd, investigations chief with the Franklin County (OH) Sheriff's Office.

Haynes died about 30 minutes later at a nearby downtown hospital, reports CBS News.

Events unfolded as a judge wrapped up a hearing involving a firearms charge against the teen and an electronic monitoring device the court assigned him earlier in the case, Minerd said.

Haynes' lawyer, Jennifer Brisco, told the Columbus Dispatch that the teen grew upset when the deputy threatened to arrest him. Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien told the newspaper the teen was also upset by a judge's order that he continue to wear an electronic monitoring device.

The deputy was knocked to the ground and fired a shot, he said.

Minerd didn't identify the deputy, saying the investigation is ongoing. The deputy also was injured and was being treated at a hospital, but he wasn't shot, Minerd said.

Hmm
