- The Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA), the city of Chicago’s newest civilian police oversight agency, will host its first community event. COPA Community Nights will give residents of the city of Chicago an opportunity to meet leadership and staff from the new agency, learn about COPA’s investigative process, as well as ask questions and provide feedback.
Join us Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Hope Community Church 5900 W. Iowa in Chicago, IL from 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM.

With the current government shutdown non-essential personnel will be temporarily laid off. Headquarters will be a ghost town having the various inside units closed for everyday business. Beat officers and boots on the ground personnel most likely will not be affected.
Day to day mission-essential operations are anticipated to be business as usual with murders, car jackings and shootings to continue unabated despite valient efforts to restore the department to full staffing levels with critical non-essential payrollers.

I doubt it. They would not get a good reception in these areas and I think that they know it. Besides that, my feeling is COPA is not interested in what the law abiding white community thinks.
They certainly are having it there just to keep Whitey away...PERIOD......

A member of fop should be at every meeting. These people are basically making policy decisions and they have no oversight. Wake up fop.
I would hope that the FOP would have a couple of representatives sit through this just for intelligence gathering. I doubt it thought they’re too busy going out for dinners on our dime. Spoke to a copper that went through a police board hearing recently and guess what no FOP personnel at the hearing whatsoever. Copper had his own lawyer and good thing he did, he was reinstated.
Fifty cops attending would be a good thing.

How come they done hold it in a area were people actually care about the police, not a area were there lies the problem in the first place. If I were to go I would stick out like a sore thumb being that I am a white person and all the hate and animosity would be directed at the white police officers who will not let the minorities do what they please and have no respect for the law.

Let me get this right. I'm a white citizen with a CCW and I'm gonna go to a church in one of the worst areas of the city, and I have to leave my cc in the car cuz its a church! Screw this city. If I follow the law, and I do, there are very few places I can go in Chicago and still be legal. Used to take grandsons to Navy Pier and Millinium Park for skating. Not anymore. I grew up on the south side in the 50s and 60s. Back of the yards and surrounding neighborhoods. Thankfully I moved out of Crook County years ago. When I was young I had all the answers. Now that I'm older all I have are questions.
Tell ISIS it's a secrete meeting to destroy them and give out the address and time of the meeting.

I'd like to come down from the Gold Coast, but have trepidation about going to Austin. Will an armored transport with run flat tires, infrared cameras, bulletproof vests, and a phalanx of armed guards be provided vis a vis Rahmacide's detail?
Also, I'm assuming coffee, and light appetizers will be provided. Is there anything I can bring?

Agreed, but do you really need to tell us “COPA is not our friends?” That’s like reminding us that fire burns. Any police officer that thinks COPA is our friend should go back to kindergarten and learn everything over again. COPA was created for one purpose. It should be understood

I am a white disabled senior citizen and I filed a COPA complaint against davina Ward and others in the detective section relating to failure to investigate on December 18. I have received no response. I guess I get no justice because I am white. COPA is nothing but a tool of Rahm just like phony joe Ferguson.

Why not have the meeting at Calypso Louie's on Stoney Island? At least vehicles would be safe. The only drawback would being patted down by former reformed gang members and criminals. Also, plenty of tapes and books on"the man" along with some bean soup and bean pies would be good for the stomach during the meeting too.
Retirees? In retirement, I make it a point not to go anywhere I may have to kill someone going to my car.
