Ramming Speed!
- Four people suspected of firing guns from a vehicle during a funeral procession were taken into custody Tuesday in Hillside after the western suburb’s police chief ran his SUV into the suspects’ vehicle following a brief chase.
The incident began just before 2 p.m., when a 911 caller reported shots fired on the Eisenhower Expressway in Forest Park as a funeral procession was traveling west. Moments later, police were dispatched to a call of shots fired at Harrison Street and Mannheim Road in Hillside.
The second 911 caller said gunfire was coming from a vehicle in the funeral procession, said Chief Joseph Lukaszek of the Hillside Police Department.
Lukaszek and other responding officers attempted to pull the car over, but the chief eventually made a decision to ram his SUV into the vehicle to force it to stop.
We can't even imagine a CPD exempt dreaming about thinking about actually doing something like this. Nice job Chief.

I met this guy last year, he is a good guy and screw these gangbanger shitheads who think that they can terrorize the burbs.
Had this incident occurred on the Chicago side of the Expressway (instead of suburban HIllside), Rahm would be doling out apologies & lawsuit money for 'offending' the grieving funeral members who were only firing shots to relieve some of the stress of burying their deceased when they were 'swiftly profiled by the 'silent' CPD and had their car destroyed by their idiotic actions!'
We can't even think that an exempt CPD member would be on the scene.
Had Kidney Bean did this. He would have striped himself, immediately sent himself to call back and the city would have awarded a nice Ghetto Lottery to the Bad guy.

I Dont know...does this violate their pursuit policy? Intentional ramming is a no-no in most policies.
Good idea back 20 years ago but in today's upside down world and in Cook County will it matter at all? Supervision and a small fine will be the outcome in court.

The real police have been in the burbs for a long time. We go to all calls in solo cars while CPD whines about being “99”. And FYI, there are a lot of suburbs that no different than Englewood and the West Side. Not every suburban cop is working for Orland PD doing the mall traffic directing detail and taking retail theft reports. CPD could learn something if they weren’t so busy telling themselves and everyone else how awesome they are and how no one else is the police. You guys turn everything over to some other division. Our patrolmen often do the work of detectives, drug enforcement, homicide investigations, evidence techs, vice, etc. We do it all, because we have to. If you could get over yourselves for just five minutes, maybe you wouldn’t always be stepping on your dicks and jamming yourselves up. And maybe everyone else wouldn’t laugh and roll their eyes when an almighty Chicago cop is running his mouth off (or on) duty.

Wow, spoken like a true asshole. "Love, a suburban cop." We don't trash other departments and we always extend professional courtesy. When have you ever been mistreated or spoken down to by CPD? I guarantee that's bullshit. When your per capital homicide rate, armed robbery, etc. is comparable to englewood, Gresham, Ogden, etc., you will understand our necessity for 10-4 units on midnights and 3rd watch. Until then, try not to be such a dick. Take your own advice and get over yourself.
This conversation shouldn’t be taking place. Each department takes care of their jurisdiction , just like 016 isn’t the same as 011. We are all police police and shouldn’t be getting into a pissing match over nonsense like this. We should stick together
I personally have been treated great by the suburban po’s and I’m sure they have been treated the same by CPD. Let’s dump the egos and move on and all get along.
