Fake Diplomas

We can only imagine the amount of money being stolen, hand-over-fist, at these diploma mills:
  • A Southwest Side City Colleges campus artificially doubled its graduation rate by awarding nearly 300 diplomas to aspiring electricians as part of an unapproved program loaded with ineligible students, records show.

A scathing 246-page confidential report from City College’s inspector general, John Gasiorowski, recommended an immediate halt to the troubled apprenticeship program at Richard J. Daley College, which he charged was also used as the basis to seek hundreds of thousands of dollars in state tuition reimbursements for courses offered for free.

The report was delivered to City Colleges administrators in February, but there is no evidence the program has slowed in any way since then.

The report, never released to the public in full, was obtained by the Better Government Association.
And not just in Chicago. It's a national problem (sorry about the NPR link):
  • An investigation by WAMU and NPR has found that [Washington DC] Ballou High School's administration graduated dozens of students despite high rates of unexcused absences. We reviewed hundreds of pages of Ballou's attendance records, class rosters and emails after a district employee shared the private documents. Half of the graduates missed more than three months of school last year, unexcused. One in five students was absent more than present — missing more than 90 days of school.

According to district policy, if a student misses a class 30 times, he should fail that course. Research shows that missing 10 percent of school, about two days per month, can negatively affect test scores, reduce academic growth and increase the chances a student will drop out.

Teachers say when many of these students did attend school, they struggled academically, often needing intense remediation.

"I've never seen kids in the 12th grade that couldn't read and write," says Butcher about his two decades teaching in low-performing schools from New York City to Florida. But he saw this at Ballou, and it wasn't just one or two students.

An internal email obtained by WAMU and NPR from April shows two months before graduation, only 57 students were on track to graduate, with dozens of students missing graduation or community service requirements or failing classes needed to graduate. In June, 164 students received diplomas.
Setting up another entire generation for failure.

Well, when you decide that it's racist for a child to fail in school, you pass him. It's not just little black and hispanic kids that are being pushed along without earning their diplomas, it's many of the entire student body. Boys act like boys? Medicate them for having ADHD because, you know, little girls don't act like that, it must be the boy has issues. The issue is he's a damn boy and needs a firmer hand than a little girl because he's easily distracted when bored. Got brown or black kids in your classes? Wanna insult a minority kid, tell him if he speaks correctly and does well in school, he's trying to be white. Keep calling the well behaved black kids Uncle Toms and Oreos, it's just helping to make our society so much better.

Why do asian kids do so well in school? Their parents are in most cases living together and they demand the children do well academically in school from their children because IT'S IMPORTANT. What a concept! Do well in school because it matters.

I have no love for the teachers and their socialist unions, but the parents need to do their part. Give them something to work with. NOt just a room full of kids that need to be babysat.

Has Gasiorowski grown a set of Testicles under the new Chancellor? Because in the past, Inspector General Investigations at City Colleges of Chicago resulted in total cover-ups, with the felons being allowed to simply resign without Prosecution or Restitution. The City Colleges I.G. used to send the results of his investigations directly to the vice-chancellor responsible for the employee. Then depending on the Clout or "Sponsorship" of the offender, the vice-chancellor would decide the discipline. No set standard of punishment. There is no telling how many felonies never made it to the State's Attorney, but were simply buried by Gasiorowski, at great expense to the taxpayers. So here we see Fraud, misuse of Federal and State funds; is anyone going to be Prosecuted? Or do the people behind this waste of resources and taxpayer money, simply walk away. Oh, yes, they do have a Do Not Rehire List, is that the extent of punishment? And the motto at CCC is:"Education that Works". Yet, we have to ask, "Works" for whom? Stay Safe and do very little. 1. Get them registered to vote.

2. Insure, by various means which need not be enumerated, that their vote is always, every election, whether they are living, dead, incarcerated, incapacitated, nowhere to be found, dead, changed their name/gender/species/etc, did I mention dead, caste for the proper candidates.....

3. Turning failures into success......the traditional you know who way........

So now these clowns are qualified to wire your house? I would say Illinois electricians need a state license before they should be allowed to do work that could cause injury or death if not done properly. But how long would it be before that was corrupted by cheating to? It would seem that nothing in Illinois is on the up and up. Best plan is to get out as soon as you can, and please leave the Chicago Way behind.

Crain's Ragazine ran a story a few weeks back about Rahm's treasured City Colleges and how their inflated "graduation rates" and "diploma earnings levels" were fraudulently bolstered. They highlighted one young lady who "all of a sudden" received a diploma for a degree that she hadn't even pursued but the courses she had taken fit the bill so "wa-lah" she gets a 2nd diploma!
They had run a story previously showing that City Colleges would "count" someone as a successful graduate EVEN if they left City Colleges after a year or two but went on to ANOTHER SCHOOL and finished their degree. Junk math used by the jagoff Rahm to show what a great job he is doing.
I mentored at a City high school a few years back and was appalled that these juniors & seniors could barely write a resume, conduct an (albeit rehearsed) job interview, and in some cases barely legibly write their name (no I am not kidding). All were slated for graduation - ready to take on the world. Sad.
What a joke education has become in this City & Country.

The diploma tactics are all part and parcel of "Reinvention" a cosmetic makeover of the Shitty Colleges of Chicago launched by the outgoing Daley and continued on steroids by Emanuel. The colleges were one of the few places under mayoral control which had cash on hand, so Emanuel decided it was time to burn through that money on construction contracts and consulting contracts.
The geniuses who built the new Malcolm X College completed the building, but neglected to include faculty offices.

Chicago is unique. Unlike every other district in the state, where voters choose board members for schools, colleges, libraries, and parks, everyone of these individuals in Chicago are appointed by the mayor without voter input.

It's all numbers to these people. The students don't matter, not to the parents, not to the administrators. After getting no support from either, the teachers who do care, burn out and quit.
I subbed for math in a high school for a while and was flat out told to pass a certain number of kids. No help getting the kid who stood on the desk shooting spitballs at the other kids under control. The kid I couldn't lay a hand on. The admin's promised security guy never showed up. When called, Dindu's mom couldn't be bothered to listen past me identifying myself as a teacher before hanging up.
These kids are socially promoted (a process of advancing the undeserving to the next grade, so the school isn't embarrassed by 17 year-old 2nd graders) until the reach high school. If the manage to show up occasionally during the next four years, they may win the graduation numbers lottery and get a diploma.
It's not going to be too long before they can't even get into a gang, because they'll be too ignorant to figure out how much money to collect for a certain amount of drugs. MS13, the Crips, etc. will have to equip them with picture based registers, a la McDonalds.

Someone is going to die.

And these scum-sucking hack 'educators' and fraud politician from Rahm on down will be responsible!

As I've mentioned before I spent 40+ years in Commercial Construction in the HVAC industry (specialization in Ventilation). As such I worked with every Building Trade involved in a building's construction, from Concrete, Steel, Plumbing, Carpentry, Sprinklers, Masonry and Drywall to, yes, Electrical. Name a Trade and I had to coordinate with it at some point.

All this work was performed by Journeyman Union Labor. Journeymen, like Electricians and Sheetmetal Workers who went through CERTIFIED apprenticeship programs at Washburn Technical School in conjunction with the respective Trade Unions for the appropriate amount of years.

And except for the obvious as to Danger Factor, like Structural Steel erection, the Most Dangerous Trade IMHO is Electrical. The 'Sparkies' (as they're called for obvious reasons) work with every Electrical Voltage imaginable; High Voltages like 480 volt & 240 volt (some 208v), the common 120-115 low volt, and 24 volt bell wiring.

The last thing you, or anyone needs is an unqualified MORON with a phony 'journeyman certificate' handling, installing, connecting, and/or labeling wires with voltages that can KILL YOU by one simple mistake.

Can you imagine one of these completely unqualified 'graduate journeyman' going out on their own and doing Electrical Repairs or Installations in a residence! That's a disaster waiting to happen. I'm serious, people WILL Die!

In conclusion, someone has to stop this program and stop it now. Every single one of the certificates handed out through this program has to be rescinded and asap.

ps: This is probably surprising to most folks but the Ventilation Contractor is the Lead Sub-Contractor on Construction Projects today. 'We' have to coordinate our work with every trade and those trades cannot start any installation without the vent contractors input first. First thing I did upon getting a contract was look at the Structural Design drawings conflicts / coordination issues.

SCC, Sorry for long Post but IMHO this is serious 'stuff'.

I taught at the City Colleges of Chicago for many years and I if you think the Police Department is bad you have not seen anything compared to the City Colleges of Chicago. First of all it is the most under the radar political part of Cook County Government. You would be amazed at the political hacks working there. If you think the Police Department is top heavy with supervisory positions you would just shake your head at the layers of supervisors at the colleges. For one of the classes I was teaching I wanted a set a video's to go along with my in class lecture program. I had to get several layers of approval for these videos. Each time I had to change my requests to answer questions from people who never taught in a classroom. Then to make insult to injury I (along with every other instructor) had to be evaluated by supervisors who again never taught in a class room. Some of these evaluators didn't have college diplomas. I sometimes would go to department meetings and there would be supervisors actually talking about their clout. It came to head when Wayne Watson was the chancellor of the college. He had several mistresses working for him in various departments. He had one mistress who was a department head that had ABSOULUTELY no knowledge what so ever of the workings of the department. This particular female didn't even have a degree let alone any type of experience in the field. This is the same guy who went to Chicago State and FUCK THAT INSTUTION UP SO BAD, THAT THE STATE TOOK OVER IT. It is the Chicago Way and believe me I felt sorry for the students who wanted to go there to get a education. Keep voting Democratic

I taught part time for 10 years at Chicago State University. If I held the same academic standards that I was under at the University of Illinois and DePaul, I would have failed most of every class. I could not hold the students to the school handbook for no one comes to class, most don't even get the book and their academic preparedness , that is " reading and writing" would not even make the 12th grade level. And, many of the full time faculty really keep bankers hours, that is they cut their class short or don't show. Now you know why that school is in such trouble and has low student levels. I suspect, but no one wants to say, this school is just a way to give degrees to minority students.

FYI, Chicago Public high schools never proceed through any of their common core books. Meaning that that just go over the testing material of any given subject, that way when it comes time to take the national test every student does decent and keeps the numbers average.

Not to knock getting a degree or furthering one's education. I know a lot of coppers who went to "Lewis University", never went to class and just handed in recycled term papers that were decades old. I bet the instructors have read the same papers in the same class handed in by different "students". I believe some of our glorious leaders on this department are products of this established institution of higher education and its methodology, hence the fuckery. I'm a firm believer in higher education and if one wants to learn they can/will regardless of where. If you want to be taken seriously then perhaps one should look elsewhere, if I had to choose between a doctor who has a medical degree from the university of Tiujuana of Stanford, I'm going with the Stanford guy. By the way I have known officers who went to Lewis and can confirm my post so "no Coke, Pepsi no fry, chip".

Here's something else they're keeping hush hush. If you are undocumented all you have to do is sign an affidavit stating you graduated from a high school located in another country. You do no need any further proof or official transcripts. If you think this is just a rumor call a school adviser. Daley recently had several high ranking individuals quit. This is not because of past indiscretions, or a new administration. This is because they were asked to score test differently and to fudge numbers. To the credit of the staff that left their integrity was more important than their jobs.

I worried! I had never taught math never mind adv alg trig/calculus. We got as far as adding double digit to a single one e.g. 12+7. The kids were lovely, but couldn't do more.
