Who Needs These?

From the comments:
  • OT...but Interesting.

I work in City Hall (Oh...Not a Cop btw..) and noticed the Department of Finance take in a rather large delivery of Bullet Proof vests from Point Blank Inc.

Are they getting ready to arm the damn PEA's and Booters?
Interesting to say the least.

Sounds like a good idea. Lots of angry folks out on the street. A simple ticket or boot could drive some of these folks over the edge.

Tally:
One shot-the-fuck-up Revenue van.

3 or 4 Revenue-ers "down the street and

If the arrival of body armor presages anything,

10/15/2017 12:41:00 AM

For starters, after 7pm, its the Contractors...Ser Co, that does the ticketing.

On the weekends...at least since Oct of 16, its a mixed bag...PEA's on OT and Ser Co....depending on the area.

I ran into that Bike Guy today in the Logan Area. And everyone on the Job needs to pay close attention to the following:

I was out with a friend, and saw a PEA on a Bike ticketing a Pickup on Kimball in the 2200 block. So, being curious I asked what the ticket was for.

They are enforcing the Residential Street Pickup Truck ban on Pickups that don't have a Current City Sticker. Get your Damn Sticker if you've been playing the game. And I did some research before coming to the blog...that dude is 100% correct.

Now...we are all going, Wait...Kimball? Residential? This guy has the Damn Muni Code Printed out, Laminated and in his bike bags. Plus he is carrying around a Laminated copy of the IL Vehicle Code for Commercial Vehicles....

Watch your back if you do a side job out of any type of vehicle. They are looking for a reason to drop a commercial vehicle ticket on any vehicle that meets 9-64-170E.

Booters have been shot in the past 10 years. And while I know no one wants Tickets or to get a Boot on their vehicle....they are Fucking City Employees.

We should have their backs for that simple fact. I don't want to hear a 10-1 for a PO...even if I don't like the PO. I don't ever want to hear "Shots Fired at City Employee at X S whatever street."

Remember kids, Enforcement isn't Personal, its City Business.

I've seen a few of the PEA's wearing Body armor...and the ones I've talked to admitted it was out of their own pocket paid for.

The Booters get is as part of their equipment. PEA's didn't until the other week apparently.

These vests will be rented out at street corners by the DIVVY Corporation for people going through dangerous neighborhoods.

Who they should really give them to is our EMTs they really need them. I watch video of the Las Vegas massacre and there paramedics were wearing body armor labeled "EMT" and Kevlar helmets. Las Vegas cares for their police, firefighters and EMTs. But LV doesn't have greedy Rahm and the 50 alderthieves.

Did you ever hear of Laurie Dann shooting in Winnetka, or Officer Irma Ruiz at Montefiore School on the west side of Chicago. There are more I am sure.

What I like is the idea, Utah for example where they conduct a free CCW class for teachers. But dead students are more useful to Rahm than a dead offender.

Can't he buy his own and wear it under the uniform. Doesn't have to be mandatory. If there is not an order against wearing one under your uniform, he can do that

And you my dear are the problem with that attitude.

There is only 1 damn reason PEA's have a badge. It is because it is required to be issued to people that issue municipal code citations.

Don't forget that the TMA's that have ticket books Also have badges. So do (If I recall correctly) Buildings Investigators and BACP and City Clerk License Investigators just to mention a couple.

As for the "Failed the CPD Hiring Process" comment....stupid remark. Not every City Worker wants to be a Cop or a Fire Fighter (oh yeah, don't they have badges also?). I'm not saying being a Parking Enforcement Aide is what those employees grew up wanting to be. I know sure as hell its not what I wanted to be when I grew up and moved to Chicago to find a job. But there you go and here we are.

PEA is the easiest job to get if you're a TMA or Crossing Guard trying to get from Part Time to Full Time with benefits.

I've been trying to get to a different job in other city departments since I flipped from TMA to PEA back in 2008. And personally speaking, I can't help that CPD didn't call me for the Academy before I turned 40. But with the shit you guys and gals in Blue are getting from the rest of "society" I'm actually glad I didn't get into the CPD Academy. Lightfoot and Pena and a few others come to mind. Yes, we have our share of idiots at Finance Street Ops. I'm sure there are a few cops you might know OTJ that should never have been allowed to graduate the academy, or get promoted to Sgt or Lt or higher.

Stones and Glass Houses my friend.

Best Regards and the Utmost respect to all that walk that thin Blue Line.

People with a Badge in Chicago:

50 Aldercreatures.
"Special Police" anointed by the Superintendents Office.
50 Ward Superintendents.
Darn near every Manager or Director in every City Department that is authorized to Issue Municipal Code Citations

Know what it takes to "Earn" a badge in this City?

The ability to Pass your Training Certification in the Department you work for if you get a ticket book for your Job.

A badge is a piece of Metal that just represents your particular Office and the 'powers' that come with the job.

The IRS have badges
The FBI have them
DEA, BATF, NCIS, Army CID, Air Force Police, CGIS, DHS, DIA, NSA, CIA Police, Illinois Department of Corrections, State Police, Commerce Commission Police, CCSP, Aviation Security, and the list goes on.

Begging SCC's pardon, but Cry me a river Bro.
