Nice Drainage Rahm

That was quite a bit of rain this weekend:

That's how many millions of tax dollars under water? And no one could get authorization to open the locks to drain the river into the lake?

Indicative of so much of the operational
and situational muscle memory of Chicago
that has been made to go away under

Nobody left to remember how things
would work when shit happened.

As an aside...

Ponder how deliberately wretched
vehicular traffic flow has become
since Rahm parachuted into town
from D.C.

Amazing, Shocking and most of all Disturbing! Was the person with the "Authority"to make a decision out of town this weekend? Maybe locking up their summer home for the winter? Or has the Dancing Turd instilled so much "Fear" in his flunkies, that nobody has the balls to make a decision, even in an emergency? Who was supposed to advise Rahm on this obvious emergency? Where was Rahm; out of town, setting up his Lobbyist Business for when he leaves Chicago? I hope the "Turd" gives the Inspector General the authority to investigate the incompetence that will now necessitate an expensive clean-up. And hopefully, someone will check the effect on the potential Amazon sites. Remember: IF RAHM LOSES AMAZON, IT WILL BE AS BAD AS WHEN MAYOR "MUMBLES" LOST THE "LYMPICS"! "MUMBLES" LOST, AND ONE INSIDER INVESTOR LITERALLY KILLED HIMSELF, RATHER THAN FACE THE OTHER INVESTORS LURED INTO THEIR CORRUPT REAL ESTATE SCHEME! Stay Safe, and be Careful. Rahm has your backs! The entire Riverwalk Project has been a disaster from the start. Obviously, the engineering was faulty since a good rain results in flooding all the stores and restaurants. The project took far longer than anticipated to complete. Vendors were concerned about the possibility of flooding problems but the city assured them it could not happen. Now, the vendors are dealing with their second destructive flood in two years. Look for some of the vendors to stay closed for good. Others will not renew their leases when they expire. Eventually, the Riverwalk will be vacant and become even more of a magnet for criminal activity than it is now. Another fiscal disaster brought to the citizens by Rahm and a giant waste of money that could have been used to fund the pensions.

No Offense SCC but opening the Locks wouldn't drain the river into Lake Michigan. If you recall the Flow of the river was Reversed around 1900 (Sanitary & Ship Canal also created) so it eventually flows into the Mississippi River. The Chicago River is the only river that flows 'backwards'.

IMHO the culprits are the morons at the MWRD and Deep Tunnel. That thing has never worked as promised and after every flood -- that shouldn't happen -- some jackass spokesman comes out with some lame excuse why they couldn't increase the flow in the tunnel(s). I don't believe its ever been opened to full capacity during any flood.

When the water is that high, it goes out into the lake and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District adds extra chlorine to the intakes to wash out the garbage, etc. SCC has this one right.

Little Drummer Boy probably privatized the city services that were in charge of opening up the damn.

As someone else on here said, since Rahm Emanuel has become Mayor, traffic has never been worse. The reason for this is that he has hired outside contractors *filled with illegal labor, mind you* to tear up streets in the name of Comed, People's Gas, or sewer work. It's a joke.

Also a joke, is that this little monster has cut any and everything relating to Streets and San, and as a result, graffiti and Rats are at an all-time high.

Not to mention, this little monster has depleted the Police to the point that there aren't enough bodies. Further, even if there were enough bodies, why would any cop do his job when he runs the risk of being vilified by the people that Wilmette's Finest has emboldened, by quashing the Laquan McDonald tape, so that he could be elected.

As beautiful as she is, this city is running into a scary and dangerous time, all at the hands of the little Monster on the 5th Floor. Rahm: you suck as a leader, you're even worse as a person. Do us all a favor and do not run again. You, SUBURBANITE, HAVE RUINED MY CITY.
