Another Hit Piece

Yeah, we read it. Rahm's lapdog media tossing another hit piece out there as Contract negotiations are underway. This time about boozing coppers. Funnily enough, they concentrate on some connected cops, including one who drove Shortshanks around. Now why do you think that that particular DUI went away? Or any of a dozen more we could name, but won't. Connections maybe? The reporters don't mention that.

Alcoholism is a disease according to the medical community. It is supposed to be treated as an illness and those who suffer from it deserve sympathy and understanding - until one reaches the point that a reasonable person would have taken action to correct the illness, but didn't.

Or if you're a cop. Then you're expected to deal with all the stresses, all the second-guessing and armchair quarterbacks, the gunshot wounds, the maimed victims, the dead bodies, the beaten children, the traffic accident carnage, the same dysfunctional societal problems over and over and over.

And how widespread is this "problem" that the Slum Times saw fit to devote the front page of their Sunday paper and two full pages to it?
  • ...400 Chicago cops investigated by the department from 1997 to 2014 for alcohol or drug use...
First up, the Slum Times adds drug use to alcohol use to inflate the numbers - a typical statistical trick to push an agenda.

Second, it averages out to a whopping 23 cops a year, with no note if any are "repeat offenders." You know, the clouted ones who feel they're untouchable and get tagged multiple times. No word on how many are cleared....as in "not drug/alcohol affected."

Finally, if it is 23 cops a year in a Department of 10,000 cops (we're rounding here), that works out to 0.0023 of the Department or (multiplying by 100) 0.23% -- twenty-three-hundredths of one percent.

And to handle this "massive" amount of rampant alcohol abuse, the Department has THREE counselors at EAP, a number deemed woefully inadequate by the Department of Justice. And seeing as how Rahm is joining forces with Lisa "can't find political corruption" Madigan to sue the Feds to impose a Consent Decree, we're wondering if he's also going to raise the number of EAP counselors to treat officers in need, of is this all so much smoke being blown up everyone's asses?

EAP is a joke, the connected can do what they want and get away with it. Most of the people who get a DUI end up in call back for a few years or they move to let you go if you have over 20 years. Business as usual, carry on.

Can't wait to leave this place.

I struggled with an alcohol problem for a long time. It is no joke. Almost cost me my job, my freedom and my life on a few occasions. I wish I would've gotten some kind of help earlier, but instead I just kept it inside and tried to deal with it by myself. It is something I have to live with, like a disease that I often have to fight off. The urges are still there but I have too much to lose now to give in. Hope anyone else out there with the same problems gets help. I was stupid. Dealing with it by myself cost me years of misery that I'll never get back.

So do desperate, false-flagging/"heavily bearded"

For those situations, the 12+ foot tall,

Police would be called to set things straight.

"Good evening and why are we here?"

"EEEK!"
>SLAM!<

But it seems to be quite apparent that there is
nothing more viscerally appealing and satisfying
to the howling mob than seeing Policemen loudly
and publicly lynched for "stepping in it."

SCC adroitly points out that the incidence
of Policemen "stepping in it" is comparatively
low in spite of the lies of omission being artfully
crafted by the local media.

"But y-y-y YOU COPS can deny
people their freedom and kill them!"

(Default argumentation when common
sense and logic are overwhelming them)

>Pffft!<
Some m/fers can't be reasoned with
no matter how much crystal clarity
you use to illustrate your point.

It's ALL about their slavish attachment
to the agenda and all it entails.

"The Police are the problem here in Chicago.
Once we fix THEM, everything else
will fall into place."

The agenda keepers would be amusing if they
weren't so damned clueless on top of being dangerous.

Narrow-minded enough to look through

Obtuse and mind-locked enough to actually
believe they can pull it off...

My dad was a paramedic, the job clearly affected him and drove him to drink. I would have to go outside and wake him from his car parked in front of the house. From how my memory serves me, he never sought treatment assistance, said that was for pussies. Anyway, here is my rant. If the average person gets arrested for DUI, or being drunk on the job, we could get fired or even arrested. Lose our vehicle, loss of driving privileges. I read many times where cops say, oh, if you break the law, you pay the price. It should go for anyone and everyone. You drive drunk a person or persons could die. As a cop, you have the resources to get help. Get it done. Before someone gets hurt or worse.

But yet, when she went missing to the family, her supposed friends did not say a word about her being there and left the family hanging out to dry. Hotel had sketchy cooperation with the Rosemont police so even they knew something was up. Cops were fed up with not being able to locate her, they just started opening up every door, cabinet, etc. They were shocked to high hell she was found in the freezer. Family should be asking her friends about what they did with her and not complain about the police response. The Rosemont police did everything they could step by step and with professionalism in plain sight.

Six weeks later they hounded me to come back so I showed up and the
Director was all apologetic and we sat down and within minutes she began to nod off again so I got up and walked out leaving her sleep.

That there isn't one eyebrow raising No-Bid Contract issued to someone named Vanecko. Or a Contract issued to close friends, relatives, and/or to companies that donate(d) heavily to a certain politician named Rahm. That's certainly good news.

Off topic, "Lisa "Can't find political corruption' Madigan.

The AG's office has every AAG and investigator out on the streets during elections checking in on polling places for voter fraud, intimidations, whatever.

Every AAG has to file reports, usually by 9 am the next day.

Send a FOIA for those reports. They are rumored to be shredded and never read.

So, if that is true, is the AG Office willfully blind to their own work? Is the AG Office wasting tax payer dollars to make the AG Office appear to be doing something, and in fact is not doing anything?

If the reports are all destroyed or discarded, I would expect objection to the FOIA request, law enforcement privilege or something. I don't know enough about FOIA how to actually get an answer.

You can probably get all the travel (mileage) for all those AAGs and investigators driving around for 15 hours every election (and can probably figure out the per day salary of the whole office). That type of financial docs.

Excessive consumption of Alcohol will alter the brain's way in a negative manner, in the way it perceives a given situation. Not just while under the influence of alcohol, but also for several hours afterwards, in the hangover stage. Ever notice how some people seem to turn minor situations into major deals that really aren't ? This is a problem in many professions, especially police work, as an Officer's perception, or lack thereof, can become a life or death matter. Like the Cop who recently arrested the ER Nurse for not complying with him in a DUI Arrest dispute in which the Nurse acted professionally, but against the will of the officer, it is quite possible that the Officer was drinking in 24 hours of less time before his shift, feeling tired, cranky, and impatient. Even when presented with the rules governing Emergency Room DUI Arrest procedures, he simply could not back off. This is just one example. This is one reason that Commercial Airline Pilots are not allowed to consume alcohol within a set period of time before they are scheduled to pilot an aircraft. It's not necessarily because they might arrive to fly drunk, it is due to the alcohols effect on judgement for a period of time until it completely leaves the consumer's system. This is why Police Officers and other Emergency Responder Personnel, (Fire, Paramedics, Security Personnel, Doctors, Nurses, etc) should not be allowed to consume any Alcohol products within a set period of time before commencing their shifts. Even a slight alteration in perception is enough to get someone seriously injured or killed. This also applies in operating motor vehicles. Driving impaired is dangerous, but driving soon after being impaired can be equally hazardous in a worst case scenario.

For now I say they organize a vote of no confidence in both Tiny Dancer AND Fathead Ed. Complete with march and signage around Shitty Hall.

For later, while The Winnetka Wuss is in full campaign mode pursuing a third term, I say FLOP takes out weekly newspaper ads (in publications that aren't hanging on Rahm's little nuts) reminding the world how he sat on the LMcD/JVD tape.

Commercials explaining the same thing would be a huge kick in his narrow ass, too.

Subsequent ads can detail his fiscal malfeasance, his disregard for Federal law regarding illegal immigrants, how he fucked retirees with healthcare... you get the idea.

That sun times hit piece on the police was dictated by Adam Collins at Rahm's orders. The sun times is totally in the bag for Rahm. Good post on Savini, Suppelsa (who is retiring) and Steinberg. Steinberg, the drunk wife beater, actually made fun of bob Fioretti's face in an article after cancer surgery and not one of his shit faced scum ahole colleagues at the scum times said a word after I sent each and every one an email. The drinkers in the media are well known. Certainly right about carol marin and others from channel 9. Billy goat and Downtown hole in the walls are filled with media Rahm ass kissers drinking to excess. And what's going on with joe Ferguson' and Fran spielman? Check it out. She seems to be reporting exactly what he tells her.

EAP is a total waste of time.
I have been there two times. During my first appointment the director of office started to nod off during talk. That was the first visit?????

Two weeks later I was told the Director was not available for my second appointment and no other counselors were available so I went home.

Six weeks later they hounded me to come back so I showed up and the
Director was all apologetic and we sat down and within minutes she began to nod off again so I got up and walked out leaving her sleep.

Now who do we tell this too? Who cared that the paid employee falls asleep during working hours? Instead I did the John Wayne thing and kept it too myself. I BET others out there know what I am talking about.

9/11/2017 07:22:00 AM

So, the Director of EAP is a Male. When someone is wrong about the simplest of facts, I tend to dismiss the rest of their argument.
I don't know you, but to tell others NOT to use EAP because of whatever issue you have with them is something Rahm would be proud of.

They have Jackie Campbell listed as contributing to the story. Is this the Jackie Campbell formerly of IAd? She is a contributor to just about every negative story the Sun Times puts out.

Back in the 90's everyone in the districts knew who had alcohol issues. They were still good police and better than the hard chargers with the college degrees today.

I dont drink because of my job. I drink because I am stuck in Shitcago, Crook county and Madiganistan for at least another 5 years. Too young to retire, too old to start over. Its a big beautiful Country outside of here, cant wait to leave this hellhole I (4th generation Shitcagoan) used to be proud to be from.

All mugshots are posted online for everyone to see.

The little contract thing about the police being protected was just worthless.

The nifty part about all the lock up pick posted also have the charges and the home address of the offenders.

I'll link it the media types know about this already

http://publicsearch1.chicagopolice.org/CheckHuman?Next=http%3A%2F%2Fpublicsearch1.chicagopolice.org%2FArrests%3FFirstName%3D%26LastName%3D%26CbNumber%3D%26ChargeId%3D%26CPDArea%3D%26District%3D10%26Beat%3D

Its a new age now you can share any arrest info with anyone and even pass out piks because its all on the web courtesy of the great RAHM.

Your dad's job did NOT drive him to drink; your dad made a choice to deal with whatever his issues were in that manner, drowning them in drink. That's on him, NOT his job!
I was a cop for over 30 years. I worked with tons of drunks, locked up a bunch of them along the way, but I never became a drunk because of all of the people abusing alcohol around me. If anything else, it strengthened my reserve to not ever become one of them.

Just a thought. Why not drug test our elected persons and reporters? There are more alcoholic aldermen then one would think, just ask Matt O'Shea.

Yeah, we have ice in our veins because we find no sympathy for a goof that get's so drunk that she walks into a cooler and falls asleep and dies. Right. There are far more people that deserve our sympathy than that goof. We may have ice in our veins but we also have something you don't. Common sense.

The point here is to A) demonize cops of course, but more importantly B) CHEW UP that MONEY by hiring more state/County/city workers to staff the very agency, or better yet DUPLICATE it, of course along with more "training" for you coppers. Of course, a new drug and alcohol testing regimen will be imposed on you ALL - of course hemming up the guy who had a wedding reception the night before his shift, planned for a year and time off scheduled but revoked by management while the chronic offenders who are connected NEVER get randoms even when everyone around them knows they have a little blood in their daily alcohol system 4 days a week.

Less money for raises, or new cops and less for pensions, while spending MORE money.

It is, after all, the Chicago Way.

To 6:29 - great point. Why is it lawMAKERS don't have to face drug testing and alcohol screenings like the rest of us? Heck, with their track record, they ought have Interlocks on their voting buttons!

It's a violation of federal law and department general order to give out someone's private info who is getting counseling at EAP. Look at the order yourself. Unless your life or somebody else's life is in danger or you're involved in a crime, they can't give your personal info. With that said, who knows who's watching who goes in and out of that building.

Alcoholism is treated as a disease for a reason. It's part of your physical make up. Like some people get hay fever, most don't. Some people are able to drink normally, some aren't. Those who aren't able to drink normally can become alcoholics. I'm one of them. I had a drinking problem. One was too many and a hundred wasn't enough. I sought help through EAP and they were there for me. I've been sober for over ten years but I'm not cured. I'll always be an alcoholic. I know that and act accordingly. I go to AA and don't try to fool myself into thinking I can have "just one."

Most departments will fire a cop who's arrested for DUI, but CPD will not as long as it's just DUI and you didn't kill someone. But you only get one bite of that apple. Second bite you're gone.

Alcoholism is found in every walk of life. Police are not different. The SLUM TIMES knows this, but it's not about alcoholism, it's about police bashing.

11:04am on 9/11 - Excellent Post. The same should be done with Kimesha's ASAs who are escorted by SA Investigators or Sheriff's Police. And don't forget the clowns who accepted the "wedding dress was stored in the basement" reason when Rahmocide decided to seek his kingdom in Chicago while still registered to vote in D. C. The Election Commission has their own group of off duty police/deputy sheriffs whose real function is too smooth over any beefs. Each election results in only one or two arrests, usually an inebriated election judge who won't do "duh aldermans orders." Actual arrests for election fraud are non existent. The board used to have a Director of Security which they decided "was no longer needed!"
The mere fact that most of us have first hand knowledge of dead relatives STILL on the the voters list despite us informing the poorly paid/trained judges only shows how inept the election board is. And of course, our local media goofs are only obsessed with which station declares the winner first instead of investigating election fraud.
Why hasn't LittleLisa at least backed laws which would require a valid photo ID before receiving your ballot? Can't have honest elections in Madiganistan! If we continue to ignore election fraud - we will never have honest elected officials or judges. Time to clean house - starting with the Board of Election Commissioners and the State Board of Elections. And if you think that the County Clerk is a mundane post, remember that in the suburbs the County Clerk runs the election. It's an office that we all get to vote for and the current Clerk is retiring. Don't let Madigan, Burke, and Berrios find a flunky (like Court Clerk Dorothy Brown) to run an important office.

Not to excited about the fact Rahm rented his house and left the wedding dress in the basement. Or even that he voted in DC
Historically, the presidents chief of staff only holds that spot for a year two at the most and returns home after that. More than not to run for office. I can see why he rented the house, fully expecting to return to Chicago. As far as the voting he probably didn't think it would look good or be acceptable to the electorate if the chief of staff didn't vote. Just saying
