Another Great Idea
- The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) announced on Friday afternoon, September 8, that it will stop documenting people as gang members, and will purge its gang member database in October, right after Danielle Outlaw is appointed as the new Police Chief.
The move appears to be done in the name of political correctness. Many agencies throughout the nation have gang member databases, and they are an invaluable investigative tool for officers, including officer safety.
The gang database would alert officers when they were out with a known gang member, and that database is now going away.
The database was also used to send social workers to try to work with the gang members to get them out of gangs.
The PPB said that the practice is being discontinued after strong concerns were brought up by residents about the gang member label, which have “disproportionately affected minorities,” according to OregonLive.
So the big brains in Portland decided to take away a tool that might help steer the affected parties away from crime instead of maybe addressing the issues that led to the "affected minorities" turning to the gangs in the first place. Things like:
- missing fathers;
- lack of family structure;
- no stigma attached to substance abuse;
- out-of-wedlock children without a support system;
- conflict resolution;
- regular, steady employment;
- delayed gratification
The gangs supply all of that and more. How about addressing those problems and not pretending a problem doesn't exist? Or is that "racist"?

The stigma of the gang member status may be detrimental to the individual, who by the way had a choice in most cases, but the label also protected police officers as well as the general public. Therefore the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few or the one.

I know it's very difficult not to chase these guys but it will save your career and your bank account. Go read the order on pursuits. The city expects us to obey each and every order. When an order is violated and the city is pissed off about it they will use every word of it to hammer you. They don't care if the police were shot at. Also the responsibility for terminating a chase is on the pursuit Officer. Saying a supervisor didn't terminate the chase is not a defense.
I read on another site that this is a move to protect illegal aliens since DHS is using gang affiliation as a criteria to prioritize deportations. Gotta protect those criminal gang members who have no business being here in the first place!
Quick question to the commenter from Oregon: Is there a big meth problem there? I was recently in Coos Bay and it looked like the zombie apocalypse was nigh with the emaciated, tattooed, meth heads I saw ambling around.

What she's doing in effect is this fairly new legal ploy of Nullification (of a Law/ Practice) by something called 'Disparate Impact' (its original purpose was to insure Fair Housing renting/lending). If a law, ANY Law, has a prejudicial effect on Blacks, even if no racial discrimination / prejudice was intended, that Law is Null and Void. Black 'Activist' Lawyers are using this more and more. It was a favorite tool of the Obama Administration.
In the near future you'll see Black 'Activists' / Lawyers / Politicians trying to use 'Disparate Impact' in Criminal Law. Since it's a fact that Blacks are effected more by Criminal Laws than any other Racial Group, the Laws are Discriminatory due to Disparate Impact and are therefore 'illegal'.

Shame on whoever was the highest ranking officer (I'm assuming it was the Lt) in the District for not overruling that termination order. My response in the vehicle pursuit report would be as follows..."The termination of this pursuit as ordered by Sgt ---- was overruled by R/Lt for the simple fact that the occupants of pursued vehicle attempted to MURDER a police officer. Any decision otherwise would only embolden the actors encourage and perpetuate further attacks on law enforcement."
Clearly, Pursuits are filled with peril and it's usually not wise to engage. However, there has to be a limit to the abuse we must tolerate. We better have the balls and willingness to stand up and protect ourselves and one another at the very least and we need leaders that have the guts to do it when necessary. Sadly, this was one instance where leadership failed us and, as a result, the cocksucking savage that shot at the police likely won't hesitate to do it again.

I left Chicago about 6 years ago and moved to Oregon, working for a mid sized suburb outside of Portland. Mostly a pro police town, the protesters do show up in Portland and cause issues for Portland P.D. And Portland P.D with out question has their fair share of issues with policies that are very liberal.
Its a liberal state but so is IL. I'm glad I left, not having to police the ghetto and having a nice sized house and land was worth it for me.

While it's true that anti American, BlackliesMatter mobs, race hustlers have been causing the most trouble, murder and mayhem it's not fair to say that they are the only race doing this.
What about the National Council of Laraza? LaRaza translates as "The Race" - Laraza is a Latino racial/cultural power group that agitates for Latino power and for things like not enforcing our immigration laws. That was done years ago. Inspectors went into every tactical office and removed their gang photo books and gang arrest cards.
I don't remember why but it seemed stupid at the time. The beginning of the decline in case clear ups?
Most of our gang info is wrong anyway. Probably should purge it. How many guys got locked up in an area on sweeps and were made non self admitted gang members, who in all reality prob never were a gang member just wrong place wrong time. Or some copper labeled someone a GD when they a Stone ect... someone was mouthy so they were made a king so they couldn't get I-bonds, you see someone with one reckless conduct arrest and they're labeled a gang member, ect...... our documentation of gang members isn't even remotely correct anyway. Does anyone actually do anything different when they see a gang caution file, should assume everyone could be dangerous already and by the time you see it the most dangerous part is pretty much over. Most true bangers are the most co-operative people to stop they know the routine, they talk shit, but do what you tell them anyway unless they got something.
Maybe they could take some of the dead, voting, White democrats and enroll them in gangs to get the white gang member count up.
