Don't Identify Offenders
- Officials from BART, the public metro system serving California's San Francisco Bay area, have come under fire for their refusal to release crime surveillance videos, claiming such tapes will promote stereotypes and "stir up racial animosity."
A BART official defended the agency's decision on Monday by saying information about criminal misconduct will be withheld at this time because of the media's "disproportionate elevation" of crimes that "unfairly affect and characterize riders of color," the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The decision, however, has been roundly criticized by at last two BART board members who are calling for greater transparency on how crimes are reported within the system.
Why bother alerting the ridership whom they should be watching out for. It might hurt someones feelings. The Chicago media has been doing this for years now, and crime is completely under control.

Having lived in the Bay area for 20+ years and in Chicago before that, I can tell you the Bay area makes Chicago look honest in comparison as it relates to PCness. It's a bit less criminal to be sure,but SF's delusions are truly remarkable to behold.
Don't show the public footage of asshole committing crimes; but definitely show anything slightly condemning LEOs
We have to be very careful to avoid the appearance of profiling, offending minorities, and flaunting white privilege. Providing the public with information regarding gender and general age group should be ample.

Shit, you should see our cta bulletins they fill my mailbox with. I think the camera systems are racist, because they only see certain groups and label them as offenders. All u have to do is foia the CTA chicagopolice.org email account and u can identify all of these offenders and release the info in the interest of public safety.
I only need one guess to know the race of the offenders shown in this undisclosed video. Because if it was any race other than black, the video would have been released. You know I'm right.

It's unfair to stigmatize the honest, hardworking Amish by showing the crazy out of control teens celebrating Rumspringa. These Crazy Rumspringa kids have been known to even drink, or horror of horrors, drive an automobile!
BART should not further stigmatize these Amish People.

They keep saying it "unfairly characterizes" people, but if a specific demographic continually perpetrates crimes, that's just a fact. A fact cannot be unfair.

Got to protect those criminals! To hell with the safety of the paying customers, the criminals right to vote must be protected at all costs.
If paying customers start defending themselves against the savages, will that video also be kept from public view? No fucking way! It'll be edited to make the customer look like the aggressor and on every TV channel every day for a month or more.

If the cameras are accurate recordings of events, I fail to see the strength of BART's argument.

I am all for racial harmony. Closing your eyes and not allowing the public to see the videos is insane. WTF are the cameras there for if not to help make "ALL" the public safe. As for adding to racial tensions, at what point do you put out a forest fire, when its small and as soon as possible or do you wait for it to be a towering inferno and out of control, well if you are Chicago or San Francisco that answer would be later or never. Democrat control at its finest!

I noticed the Nadig newspapers in 16 and 17, known as the Reporter and Journal, have also recently stopped giving descriptions of suspects. This coincides with additinal space needed to report all the assaults and robberies going on. Nadig is family run, so im disappointed they would support PC bullshit over the safety of their long time readers. Im sure John Arena is proud.
