Visit Your Pension Home

  • There are no hoops or basketballs inside Wintrust Arena yet, but the finishing touches will be added this summer during the final phases of the $173 million project.

After 36 years at Allstate Arena, the Blue Demons are ready for a facelift.
Allstate Arena (The Rosemont Horizon) is a medium-sized stadium that DePaul hasn't filled since the 1980's. And the way things are looking, they aren't going to sell out the new place with anything approaching regularity.

Good thing Rahm had a spare $60 million lying around while first responder pensions remain funded at well under 30%.

Use it for public housing. They never should have torn down the projects...

Couldn't we just sue for possession of it, since the City owes our pension fund the money?

The De Paul basketball program has poor ever since the retirement of Ray Meyer.

That being said, the Allstate Arena (formerly the Rosemont Horizon) has to be one of the worst stadiums ever to operate in Illinois. It was constructed on the cheap and it has some of the most uncomfortable seats imaginable. Most adults cannot fit their legs comfortably in the tight rows without bumping into the seats in front of them.

The fact the Rahm Emanuel burned through city funds to build De Paul a new arena is a complete scandal.

Rahm doesn't have a money problem.... he's got a priority problem.
Rahm's priorities are ass backwards.

Rahm despises us and resents our current pension system so he refuses to properly fund it.... instead finding bullshit projects like this to piss away money that should go towards our pension.

The term "Lawless" comes to mind, when Chicago Politicians do what they wish, with public funds. Historically, Left Wing Democrats have been the first to whine about separation of Church and State. Remember when Rahm first took Office and wanted to charge churches and church run shelters for water? Now Rahm gets Religion and enters into this money losing deal to construct a stadium for a Catholic University with a second rate team. I have a feeling this stadium is going to end up like the abandoned stadiums in Rio following their Olympics. But here is a positive suggestion, to turn a turd into fertilizer!Let the City Demand that at least 25% of the work force be city residents, working as apprentices! This Working Apprenticeship Program would create job opportunities and the opportunity for these young city workers to acquire a trade. In years to come, when we come to our senses, we will realize that most College Educations, are worth a lot less than a Trade on today's and tomorrow's job market. Too many young people are slowly starting to realize that their college education has put them in major debt, and not given them a job to get them out of that debt. Tradesmen and women who took 18 month courses and served apprenticeships, are doing a lot better than the average graduate of Chicago State. The rebuilding of America's infrastructure can provide good paying jobs for the next generation of skilled labor. But the key word there is "skilled" and CPS is not providing that education. As an alumni, I just received the schools information on purchasing season tickets. 15 home games and if you want to sit court side, $175 per game. I have not gone to a DePaul game for 20 years and I doubt I will go now that they have moved into the city.

Left-wing, anti- Christian, anti-western civilization shithole.

When they rebuilt Soldiers Field, I don't think a single dime was paid to the Pension Funds. None of the trustees said anything. I sure hope that trend changes now.

Rahm has no intention of ever funding any pensions while he's in office. He has made that abundantly clear. Rahm is there to help his friends build a new stadium or start a charter school.

Wonder who got the payoffs! Looks like Trump has totally left this city and state on its own to crumble, the forgotten men and women here are sinking, looks like even national media has stopped covering the carnage here, Trump goes everywhere around here every state but will not set foot in this corrupt anti-law and order swamp! Another waste of taxpayers money to a team that will be lucky to draw 1/4 of a crowd bet the "friends n family" backdoor program to rahm and the 50 was in full manila envelope mode!

The real thief is the White sux owner who got a stadium plus renovation, plus an after the game venue and he pays little or nothing for it all while employing players who shouldn't be in this country especially after one admits to eating a fake passport while enroute here to his $68 million dollar contract.

The legislature under Quinn mandated the City fund the pensions or the money would have been held back from income taxes returned to the City but this a-hole mayor danced his way around that with his mouthpiece legislative friends until he could defer defer defer it meanwhile giving in to their whims.

50 alder-spenders for a city of 3 million; 100 Senators for a nation of 325 million, who is over represented to do nothing part time @ $100k a year.

What. A. Fucking. Joke. No copper here, but I feel for you on the pension issue; this is literally a kick in the pants to all police in the city. DePaul alumni here. DePaul men's basketball sucks, has since the early 1990's. Not even fun to watch. All the alumni are in the burbs...No one goes to Rosemont (they can't even fill the first fucking section of seating, ever), so what makes these jack-offs think alumni will travel all the way down-fucking-town (in traffic because the fucking highways are all under construction, you know, the politicians needs their cronies getting paid for bogus construction projects), pay exorbitant parking fees, pay for overpriced and shitty food/drink - all to see a shitty team play shitty basketball? Not to mention all the fuckin' players are straight thugs, never go to class and have NO chance in the NBA. They know no one will come. They are obviously going to siphon off all the cash [or already have] for this project so they can continue driving luxury cars, eating filet mignon everyday and entertaining their mistresses. Meanwhile the new stadium WILL be shit, constructed on the cheap. Bet it won't be any better than the Horizon, just further away from most of the alumni. Fuck Chicago, fuck Illinois. Wish I wasn't stuck here.

Excellent points. I attended CPS, back then we had shop class. Print, Plumbing, Electrical or Carpentry. It was required. CPS had those cut out along with the arts for more testing. Bad idea. Then the revruns and the 50 alderthieves failed to capitalize on the gravy train construction projects to at least implement training. Too concerned about getting their taste. But I am sure Walsh, Pepper and Kenny construction do not mind. More money for their mansions or out of state workers. AFter this stupid idea was passed I contacted several politicians about local residents and the jobs. So the feedback was yes there would be jobs. Cleaning up the hotel rooms. WTF

It's long overdue to have some sort of recall ability for every politician in this crooked state. Funding the pension should be a high priority. A freaking basketball stadium? Not so much. Anyone involved in this who holds public office should be thrown out of office.

Now that I've run out of money and already under water with multiple debts, where can I get a loan to build a second floor on my overcrowbed single story overtaxed bungalow?
Rahm as no shortage of bankers and investors making deep commissions and he's paying big interest payments first before principals.Enough debt to keep them in green all the way into 2050 (so far).
You would think someone (esp. City Council) would say "stay out of the cookie jar", or stop spending until the bills are paid in full.

It Rahm's Feral City to financially destroy.
After that it becomes some other Democrats to pilfer.
The DOJ can't get involved unless there's reason to believe that a crime was committed.
And if City Hall keeps their stoolies rolling in hush high paying money appointments, a whistleblower will never come forward.

Stay Fetal - No Arrests, No Traffic, No Revenue for Rahm.

How SICK! What a huge waste! Also Depauls enrollment is down to. City hall has their priorities messed up. Money for every wastfull project but nothing for the pension that was promised on the date of hire. Hopefully someone has a list of every wasteful project city hall has suddenly found money for.

07:22am - Valid point. Another gift from the 19th Ward hacks. Bad enough working local police & Deputy Sheriffs have to deal with Dart the Fart's policies. Then retirees saw the loss of healthcare while public funds build an unnecessary stadium for a religious institution. Don't forget the AlderCreature who was more concerned for the #blm crowd than his constituents dealing with gun toting thugs returning from a funeral. Let's hope qualified candidates step up to oppose O'Shea and Dart.

I will bet that the attendance (paid) will actually go down in a new stadium in the city. The hassle of getting there, added parking fees, added ticket prices for things like security and city taxes, will work against attendance.

Also Rahm and his buddies do not make money paying required money to fund the
pension(s). You have to commission projects of low priority and necessity so that you can inflate costs and have add ons so the chosen few get theirs. This scenario happens across the nation, the problem is that dumbocrats know no limitations when it comes to padding the bills!!!! city of shitcago, county of crooks, state of illandannoy = ALL BROKE AND NOTHING BEING PAID FOR = $$HIGHER TAXES$$ = business and people fleeing = repeat cycle into bankruptcy.....soon, very soon
