Half Story = Half-Assed Protests

  • People are outraged over the latest officer-involved shooting where the ACLU and the media are reporting that the officers shot 16-year-old Jayson Negron “who was driving a car.” What the ACLU fails to mention is that Negron was driving a stolen car, and he was driving it over a police officer at the time he was shot.

According to NBC Connecticut, police attempted to stop at stolen vehicle at 5 PM on Tuesday. Jayson Negron sped off, hitting several vehicles and driving in the wrong direction before stopping. The driver then stopped and the officers approached. That’s when Negron accelerated in reverse, hitting an officer, pinning him under the vehicle.

The other officer responded by firing one shot into the car. The bullet fatally struck Jayson Negron, and injured the passenger, Julian Fyffe...
The Chief is standing behind his officers in the face of ACLU lies and planned protests. Rest assured, if this had happened in Chicago though, the Officer would be facing charges as the vehicle was the only force being used against the officer, hence a violation of the General Order 03-02-03 Section III-E:
  • Use of firearms in the following ways is prohibited - Firing at or into a moving vehicle when the vehicle is the only force used against the sworn member or another person.
Everyone knows a car can't kill anyone.

I always wondered about that general order. So basicially they have to be shooting at you AND trying to run you over with the car so you can shoot at them? Talk about using hands free devices while driving.

"You mean and racist Warrior Cops just want to
be free to kill members of the community for
no good reason. You need to be trained not
to be so quick to resort to your fists

Yep SCC every one knows a car can't be used as a weapon........ um wait.. see above story.

This would be the perfect opportunity for the department to revert back to logic and common sense and change that order.
Don't hold your breath. Rahm and the department never will admit to being wrong.

A couple of thousand pounds of stolen metal and plastic, being recklessly projected at a high rate of speed, is a Very Real threat to the general public. Yet, we have reached a point where a police officer using deadly force to stop said threat, is him/herself considered the threat! So we have reached a point, where it is probably better for police officers to Let the Stolen Auto Go! Just like we have virtually legalized Weed in Illinois, we are rapidly approaching the legalization of Property Crimes! Baby "G"

Special ED is called "Special" for a reason, and in this case special is not a good thing. Kinda like you don't want to attend a school for "exceptional children". Ps.

So, I am interested, IF a civilian with a CCW volunteers to go on a ride-a-long with officers, and a vehicle is used as a weapon against others in the manner described in the article, then would it the civilian CCW holder be able to engage to save self or others from death or harm?
OR
Would it be an idea that CCW holders traveling the city, when they see Officers working a situation as described, stand "over watch" in case of danger?

I figure that not only would the officers have another witness to the justification of their actions but a back up that can help save their lives.

This General Order is just meant to hang you with. You know the minds that thought up this General Order will never have to face what the Officer on the street may face. This is leadership from behind. Do as I say, not as I do. No, the Officer on the street can't stay holed up inside a brick building all day long.
That General Order is just wrong!

is this the only wording? There's no "when you can safely retreat without getting hit by the car" wording?

Then obama era crime wave has yet to slowdown.
And with idiots like Rahm, DeBlasio, FoxWinkle and Mooos'by running things, criminals have no intention on letting up.
USAG Sessions needs to draft Federal laws to prosecute every aspect of attacks on police officers by keeping these crimes from the biased and liberal lenient local courts.

Since it wasn't Rahm's Sanctuary, there will be no Entitled Settlement Money doled out either.

If you violate a general order the department can fire you even if your actions are in compliance with state law. Chicago better hope that no ISIS terrorist uses a truck to run down citizens, something that has happened in many parts of the civilized world.

To the unpublished:

The phrase "Sworn members will not unreasonably endanger themselves or another person to conform" merely means you will not step into or remain in the path of a moving vehicle in order to justify shooting at the vehicle.

This was explained by a Department lawyer when the order came out - you still cannot fire at a moving vehicle if the vehicle is the only force being used against you or another. Period.

It's a poorly written order, written to justify hanging a copper out to dry for a politically unpalatable shooting. Or haven't you been paying attention to the cases That Foxxx and IPRA have been re-opening?

5/14 @8:30am - Some interesting reading in the latest American Police Beat runs similar to your question. They list 5 recent incidents where good citizens saw a peace officer attempting to arrest/fighting with/struggling for their life, etc. The good citizen either pulled their CCW and shot the offender or in one case a 56 yoa woman jumped in and got physical. The officers credited the citizens with either aiding their arrest or actually saving their life (as in a Michigan incident where the offender was dispatched to hell.) They weren't on a ride along, just in the right place at the right time. APB has a digital version if you want to read the whole story.

OT: exhibiting biased reporting this past Friday was Ch. 5 Ash-hur Quereshi who while covering the Garfield Park OIS stated that CPD "emptied their clip" while engaging the female offender. Hey Ash-hur, did the Kimesha Foxx shooting team allow you to examine the officer's weapon? Did a video tape show the slide lock in place indicating that the last round was fired? Are you trying to follow Carol Marin's lead with award winning false news? NBC5 = Nothing But Crap!

Why do we carry any weapons at all?

With stupid department guidelines that are only written to hamstring police.
We should turn our weapons in and ask for new ipad so we can. Write or video tape
the incidents. Just so we can collect our IOD or death benifits.
