Still the Sentencing

  • In June 2014, Roger Lakes and two other men beat and robbed a man in the 900 block of West Belmont, prosecutors said. He probably wouldn’t have been caught if he hadn’t returned to the scene of the crime two days later while observant police looked on.

Lakes was sentenced to five years in prison for the robbery and four years for severely battering his victim.

Now, sit down for this part: Lakes was released on parole last November and he’s been arrested again for robbing yet another victim in the 900 block of West Belmont—this time outside of Alderman Tom Tunney’s flagship Ann Sather Restaurant.
We suppose if he's only robbing and beating Tunney's constituents, no one will pay much attention. It isn't like they are active politically or contribute millions to mayoral, aldermanic or statewide campaigns.

So this POS gets sentenced for 20yrs? now. He will be out in less than half that time. Of course on the bright side robberies and batteries will be down while he is in jail.

Meh, just park a squad or have a ppo on foot about a stones throw from the crime scene a day or two after--- he will be moping around the area. Case solved--- hopefully he won't have a top notch civil rights lawyer to turn over a conviction and award him 25 million like they did that one bozo who shot that future alderman in the leg with a 22. Who does that? A 22? Do you have any balls

Victims can't sue the judges that pass down these lite sentences but surely the parole board isn't immune. I would bet a few complaints with parole board members names on the defendants line would change things dramaticly.

IDOC said the prospect of one for one days is the only way they can control inmates behavior. Inmates have to have hope of release and behave for it. When they said this twenty years ago in defense of 50/50 parole after the Pontiac riot, they cut the effectiveness of the criminal justice likely in half too. So who runs the prison you ask? To some extent IDOC admitted that the inmates do to an extent. Bullshit.

So it is not surprising this asshole is arrested again for the same thing. We seem to be very comfortable letting government take care of our individual safety and security in Chicago. Gee, how the hell is that working in the city? In the rest of the country, we think personal security is our own responsibility and we take it very seriously. Or you just roll the dice and hope for the best as a plan.

Policemen in FL and AZ learned recently when under attack by thugs how important it is that some of us do in fact take responsibility for our security. Citizens walked up on the assault of said policemen and put the attacking thugs down after more than sufficient warning.

If that is what the aldercreature wants and his constituents go along with it then it is or should be a non event. Why should outsiders insist on civil order if the locals don't want the enforcement. Really, why? Let go, that's all.

to paraphrase an old movie, "Forget it, Jake, it's Crook County." The big money big donating liberals deserve what they get when they vote for politicians and judges who let criminals like this serve no time for crimes and get released early.

Maybe, just maybe, one day they will want police protection again instead of activism and social justice. Until then, this will be the norm.

Carry on.

So how did this guy get out so quickly? WTF is wrong with the judges and the parole board(S)? It's one thing to release "NON VIOLENT OFFENDERS" early, but this guy committed a robbery and then brutally beat the victim! These asswipes need hope so they give them day for day time off and they get out and commit the same crime or worse. WTF when are the judges on the bench, the A/S/A's, the parole boards and our illustrious governmental representatives going to get serious about the "VIOLENCE" in Illinois? WHEN????? Oh next election for about 20 minutes and then back to the same old BS as usual in this ridiculous laughing stock state!

First, yes it is a 'truth in sentencing" aspect, but just as important and far less talked about is the time itself served actually served.
Criminals are thrown a party rather than punished! It's kick it time, it is not prison. Inmates should be put in their cells, alone, and left there all day every day. You know, LOCKED UP. No candy bars, no chips, no radios or televisions, no NOTHING. Time, three hot PLAIN meals of basic sustenance and TIME.

It is said that this "drives them crazy". Well if forcing them to think about what they did makes them crazy, tough! Personally, I think we should imprison people for far shorter sentences and for far more minor offenses but make the time ROUGH, as in ALONE and locked up. As for the more serious crimes of violence, well at a certain level of violence there ought be no second chance third chance fifteenth chance. Capital punishment imposed is the humane AND just punishment for a great many crimes. It is "life in prison" that is so unjust, indeed TORTURE. Hey, assign life in prison all ya want, just make it two years maximum for appeals and then carry out their last supper. End them. Armed Robbery? 5 years- 5 full years, alone in a cell, never getting out. I bet they don't do it again! (and if they dare, so be it, second time in is that life sentence that is only half that(day for day like in a sense) it is just that at that two years they are ended.

Make prison a place people actually do not want to be and it would be amazing to some how effective it would be...and with far shorter sentences actually served 100%.

(OT) Not that coppers would eat any of this unhealthy garbage food, but now McDonalds going after Trump and then lying:

McDonald's tweets to Trump: 'You are actually a disgusting excuse of a President'

They said they did not do it but looking at who the boss is proves it would be correct:
Former Obama press secretary Robert Gibbs is the executive vice president and global chief communications officer at McDonald's.

If you don't boycott this unhealthy fast-food garbage now would be the time!

maybe that is why the crime rate plummeted all buried in various snow drifts? Will the dead increase in the warming months?

Chicago Values: Tolerance
The threat of a beating or robbery is not a violent crime until the rude insensitive victim tries to prevent it.
It's the victims fault for not rolling over on his back and exposing his tender underside.
It's what Tunney and his constituents signed up for when they overwhelmingly voted to re-elect Rahm Emanuel and tried their best to elect HiLIARy.
Not accountable KookKountyKimmWrinkle has no intention of demanding any increase to any sentencing.
The Chicago street robbery is nothing more than a nuisance.
And to add insult to the injury, there's was a good chance his obamaCare deductible was higher than the robbery proceeds.
(Sorry bub, no Victim Asistance available for you)

Reminded me of a recent NYPost story where the tolerant snowflake offers to pay the bill for a few of DeBlasio's feral urban predators:

The U.S. prison system should be modeled after Chinas, but I know that will never happen. The U.S. has a recidivism rate of, what is it now, 85 to 90%? In China, a few years back, it was 3 or 4%.
Don't have to do everything they do, but no personal items allowed, no tv, no magazines, computers, newspapers, no visitation period! Almost like home arrest here!
Our system doesn't work. Look elsewhere to see what is working.
