No One Likes Chicago

  • Among the 19 largest metro areas in the United States, the Chicago region was the only one that did not grow in population between 2015 and 2016, according to new figures released by the U.S. Census Bureau.

In fact, the Chicago region lost 19,570 residents, or .2 percent, more people lost than in any other metro area in the country, according to the data. At the other end of the scale, the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington region saw its population jump up by 143,435 people, or 2 percent, according to the data.

The Chicago region includes Naperville, Elgin and parts of northwest Indiana and southeast Wisconsin. Despite the population decrease, the region remained the nation’s third most heavily populated, behind New York and Los Angeles.
And the reasons people gave for leaving?
  • Taxes, fines and fees
  • Real estate prices
  • 9.5 digit midgets
  • Crime
  • Corruption
Not really surprising.

Many of the comments on this article blame Governor Rauner, completely absolving Mike Madigan & crew of their responsibility in the budget impasse, but the article's message is clear: Illinois is the "Land of Leaving".

"Illinois is already a net exporter of high school graduates with net out migration of nearly 17,000 students in fall 2014, the second highest of any state in the country. These demographic challenges add further pressure to the state’s universities, limiting their ability to grow student related revenues to mitigate the impact of state-level issues."

One guess as to what area Madigan represents and why he gets elected time and time again by a fucking landslide? What area supported Daley over and over and then Rahm without question? So tell me again why black people get the blame for the city's downfalls? Everyone gets the blame for even attempting to think a lying, thieving ass politician can save us. Not a damn one. The only thing Chicago politicians have done is lie and steal, right in our faces and they did it legally. We allowed this to happen. Each election makes it worse. We do not need 50 aldermen, they never accomplish shit. Period. Maybe take the number down to 11. Individuals on disability if qualified should man 911, if qualified. Bring back call center jobs to Chicago. If companies outsource, ensure the jobs are in Chicago. More than enough tech people here. Dorothy Brown wants to pay some Texas company over 100 million for some bullshit. Fuck that. Eliminate pensions for all board seats. All of this is a start but no one will be a leader and do it. Also demand a forensic audit of city departments including CPS.

I got robbed and got pissed because I walked toward the projects waiting on a bus. Tried to get my money back, a white cop pulled up on me, I had a broken bottle in my hand. Told him my situation, he looked at me and said kid are you fucking crazy, he gave me 20 bucks and told me to take my ass home. True story. Thanks for posting my rants.

Taxes, shit real estate values, shittier schools, crime, Emanuel himself, are all here because corruption runs deeper here then even Louisiana or New Jersey.

The corruption tax in Chicago is 33%, as opposed to the national average for municipalities of 8%.

The Democrat party could kinda keep this together before Obama, but now places like Chicago are fucked since the party has gone balls out Social Justice Warrior. They need to keep their base inflamed to stay in power which causes normal people to leave.

Simple explanation: a society can NOT exist where there are more NON-workers than workers.......
The few can NOT continue providing for the many.......

Five generations of welfare, the economic losses of the 2008 recession of the middle class, corporations who will not pay fair wages to its workers, nor provide economic security, politicians who cater to a mayor and his agenda of tax, tax, tax, a state where there has been no budget for nearly 3 years.....how many billions is Illinois in the hole? So..what does one expect?

And add to that the demoralizing of the system of law and order, 600+ murders, 2000+ shootings........surely not a surprise that Illinois is losing its working citizens........

Have to get out while you still have some time left or go back to school! ;)

By Christopher S. RugaberAssociated Press
WASHINGTON — Middle-age white Americans with limited education are increasingly dying younger, on average, than other middle-age U.S. adults, a trend driven by their dwindling economic opportunities, research by two Princeton University economists has found.

The economists, Anne Case and Angus Deaton, argue in a paper released Thursday that the loss of steady middle-income jobs for those with only high school diplomas or less has triggered broad problems for this group.

They are more likely than their college-educated counterparts, for example, to be unemployed, unmarried or afflicted with poor health.

“This is a story of the collapse of the white working class,” Deaton said in an interview. “The labor market has very much turned against them.”

Those dynamics helped fuel the rise of President Donald Trump, who won widespread support among whites with only a high school diploma. Yet Deaton said his policies are unlikely to reverse these trends, particularly the health care legislation that Trump is championing. That House vote was postponed Thursday, but the bill, if passed by Congress, would lead to higher premiums for older Americans, the Congressional Budget Office has found.

“The policies that you see seem almost perfectly designed to hurt the very people who voted for him,” Deaton said.

Case and Deaton's paper, issued by the Brookings Institution, follows up on research released in 2015 that first documented a sharp increase in mortality among middle-aged whites.

Since 1999, white men and women ages 45 through 54 have endured a sharp increase in “deaths of despair,” Case and Deaton found in their earlier work. These include suicides, drug overdoses, and alcohol-related deaths such as liver failure.

In the paper released Thursday, Case and Deaton draw a clearer relationship between rising death rates and changes in the job market since the 1970s. They find that men without college degrees are less likely to receive rising incomes over time, a trend “consistent with men moving to lower and lower skilled jobs.”

Other research has found that Americans with only high school diplomas are less likely to get married or purchase a home and more likely to get divorced if they do marry.

“It's not just their careers that have gone down the tubes, but their marriage prospects, their ability to raise children,” said Deaton, who won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 2015 for his long-standing work on solutions to poverty.

It's not entirely clear why these trends have affected whites much more than they have African-Americans or Hispanics, whose death rates are improving.

Case and Deaton note that many Hispanics are “markedly better off” than parents or grandparents who were born abroad, enabling a greater sense of optimism. African-Americans, they add, may have become more resilient to economic challenges given their long-standing disadvantages in the job market.

The data are clear, though: In 1999, the death rate for high school-educated whites ages 50 through 54 was 30 percent lower than the death rate for all African-Americans in that age group. By 2015, it was 30 percent higher.

The educational split is also growing. Even while the death rate for whites without a college degree is rising, the rate for whites who are college graduates is falling, Case and Deaton found.

The trends cut across diverse regions of the country, the researchers found.

Given the long-running nature of these trends, many of which stem from the 1970s, reversing them could take years, Case and Deaton write.

To 03-24-2017 at 1:09 AM and a few others,

Chicago will become another Detroit, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc. if and/or when city worker residency requirements are lifted.

The flight of Chicago's middle class tax base, its police officers, fire fighters, teachers, park district employees, library people, and about 50,000 other city workers in the various city departments and taxing agencies, will cause the financial collapse of local governments. (Study the above mentioned cities and their eventual downfall into bankruptcy and pension defaults.)

The city will be left with the very rich and the permanently poor. Those on federal government benefits who pay next to nothing by way of taxes of any kind except the occasional sales taxes. Remember, they do not even pay sales taxes on food like the rest of us because the purchase of food with government benefits cannot be taxed.

Once a city finds itself in that situation, there really is no way it can sustain itself. Good-bye great city government jobs with decent benefits compared to the private sector. Good-bye public pension plans. (Albeit we're already in trouble there but they're still around.)

So as you pack your moving vans to leave the city that gave you a job, be sure to pick up the "help wanted" classified section of the newspaper of the town you're moving into. You're going to need it to replace that city job you lost in Chicago because the only people sustaining our city were employed middle-class tax-paying people like yourself. And please, turn the lights out on the way out of the city.

Signed: A hard-working, tax-paying, law-abiding citizen who doesn't like our corrupt little mayor or his flunkies either but still loves the city.

>>><< 'The Chicago region includes Naperville, Elgin and parts of northwest Indiana and southeast Wisconsin.' <<<<<

That's complete bullshit. SE Wisconsin part of the 'Chicago Area'? Utter f--king nonsense. And don't tell real Wisconsinites they're part of the Chicago Area, the cheeseheads HATE Chicago & Illinois. [And I sure don't miss being called a 'FIB' = 'Fucking Illinois Bastard']

Not to mention that from Chicago's Northern Border to Wisconsin's Border it's 33+ Miles. And that SE section of Wisconsin we have a CITY called Kenosha, population 100,000. Not exactly a tiny Two Stoplight burg. From its Southern Border to Illinois, it's only approx 3.5 miles. So I wouldn't tell them they're part of Chicago.

We have the same thing in Illinois. These 'urban planner' pinheads claiming CITIES like Naperville, Elgin, Joliet, Aurora, etc -- CITIES with populations over 100,000 as 'part of Chicago' and even 'suburbs'. The problem with that is that Old Timers from those places probably never set foot in Chicago in their entire lives because they didn't need to.

Nonsense like that, designation of these cities as -- the 'Chicago Area', or the 'Chicago Metro Area' -- is relatively new, going back to the 1970s as I recall.

But one thing is constant with that practice: As the population of Chicago, Cook County, and the real 'suburbs' dwindle, the 'Chicago Area' -- 'Chicago Metro Area' grows per these assholes. It's statistical juggling of population stats to make 'Chicago' look good.

Or not as bad as the stats really are; The People & Businesses FLEEING 'Chicago' in droves.

Don't worry about real estate prices. They will fall with the population decline. Chicago has lost 1,000,000 people since the early 70's (U.S. census data). So when you look at those homicide stats form the early 70s and 90s, remember that we lost a quarter million people in each of the past four decades of census results. Thank you Democrats for destroying what should be a jewel of a city. Maybe they can tax, regulate and pander their way to success.

(OT) you have to love the ghetto language alderthieved Wally Burnett the stick up armed robber calling another alderman a"chump":
Then typically Burnett lies about it real punk move Walter!
Morning Spin: Chicago City Council member calls colleague 'chump alderman,' takes it back

Things got a bit testy Thursday when a City Council member said his colleague is “a chump alderman” if he lets Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s administration dictate where red light cameras are installed in his ward.

Freshman Ald. Christopher Taliaferro, 29th, was asking city Chief Financial Officer Carole Brown a series of pointed questions during a council committee meeting about the Emanuel administration’s possible expansion of the “surge pricing” program that will double the cost of street parking around Wrigley Field this year to $4 during Cubs games and concerts.

Brown said the administration would work with local aldermen on any metered parking increases in their wards. But Taliaferro noted the city had moved some controversial red light cameras to new intersections, “and I don’t think they’ve asked any aldermen for their support, they’re just doing it.”

Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Committee Chairman Ald. Walter Burnett Jr., an Emanuel ally who perhaps didn’t want to see his meeting go off the rails, interjected. “Generally, alderman, I know my experience, if they’re talking about putting a red light camera up in my ward they talk to me,” Burnett said.

“They’re going to talk to you,” Taliaferro replied. “But if they want it there, they’re going to get it there.”

“That says you’re a chump alderman if they just do it if you don’t want it,” Burnett said, as a murmur went through the room.

“I’m 350 pounds, there’s no chump here,” said Taliaferro, a former Chicago police sergeant. “I don’t want to get off-subject, but I ain’t no chump. Anybody that knows me would tell you that.”

“Alright then, it won’t happen then,” Burnett said.

Burnett then spent the next several minutes intermittently making the case to the assembled spectators and reporters that “on the record, I did not call the alderman a chump.” (John Byrne)

Another "study" revealed immigrants of both illegal and legal are flocking to Democrat Sanctuaries.
Then there's Nebraska, providing their arriving refugees with Welcome Baskets - complete with DNC chartered Voter Registration Applications, even though they are not citizens. Go figure.
Don't be fooled, Democrats may say Censored Residents are leaving, but the reality is the uncounted population is growing, way more than they care to tell us about. No illegal voter fraud either.

The good intentioned people, the tax-smart people are leaving. The destitute, uneducated, dependent and lawless are backfilling.
There's no room for anyone who questions where the sanctuary money goes.

Thinking that Illinois will on day recover is as likely as CPD getting Residency lifted.
The City should not be getting anything more from you than your workday attendance.
Stick it to Rahm who's willing to bankrupt the City for votes.

Proposed budget cuts at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development could leave thousands of low-income Chicago-area residents without the vouchers they need to stay in their apartments and halt construction of affordable housing, advocates warn. Chicago and Illinois housing groups are already lobbying Congress to reinstate the funding.

Relevant to previous post on "Problem Funerals", as well as why the bloated State-City agencies claim it is broke...they can't sustain the handouts with the tax base fleeing;

• The program pays for the funeral and burial expenses when a person's resources and all other sources of payment are less than the DHS standard payment rates.

• The Department pays funeral and burial expenses on two types of claims:
IL444-0029 - Funeral or Burial Claim (pdf) (submitted by a funeral home or cemetery)

• Illinois Department of Human Services - Funeral and Burial Unit

Another pat on the back for Rahm's buddy, Rauner the Reformer.
Just 2 of the many elected idiot liars that we don't need promising and not delivering.

I think the electeds beat you to it. It was fun while it lasted. The food was fabulous and the music was rockin', but this party is over.
Everybody is rushing to the exit to avoid getting stuck with the check.

All the areas losing population have certain characteristics in common. High taxes, lots and lots and lots of licensing, registration and usage fees, high crime, and the engine driving it all, solidly entrenched political corruption.

Just like the feral criminals they spend so much time, money and effort to coddle, the politicians have become ever more brazen because they haven't faced any consequences for their actions, political or otherwise.

Chicago Lodge 7 President invited to Washington, DC
for a meeting with the Trump Administration

Earlier this week, President Angelo received a formal invitation from the National FOP Executive Board to travel to our Nation's Capital to participate in a meeting with key members of the Trump Administration. Although the specifics of the date and the meeting itself cannot be shared at present, this opportunity will certainly allow President Angelo to further establish Lodge 7 on the National level.

It comes as no surprise that the violence which continues to tear through our neighborhoods has the attention of every media outlet from New York to Los Angeles. On more than one occasion, President Trump referenced the bloodshed and shootings that seems to have Chicago in a death grip. We could only assume that the topic of Chicago crime might find its way on the agenda.

To that point, President Angelo will carry the message of the 'Working Police' to the White House in an attempt to ensure that your voices are not only heard, but that our input towards any future federally-supported solutions are seriously considered.

Be Safe & God Bless the Police.

Houston, Texas will likely displace Chicago as the 3rd largest city in the 2020 census. Houston was rated the 4th fastest growing metro in the country. Austin was number one, San Antonio 6th and Dallas 8th. And people continue to exit Illinois.

To the realtor cop and his wife above who claim the city is booming. If the city were booming it would not have a junk bond rating. Your pensions would be well financed and the population would not be shrinking. The schools would be working and the streets would not be populated by homeless beggars and crime. But most of all my friend, people would not be bitching as they are; everywhere here. So I call bullshit. You may be making a little money but the health of the city is not measured by construction cranes which by the way I challenge your count.

Leave as soon as you possibly can. To coin a phrase, "the writings on the wall!" I left in 2011 and have never regretted it. Crime, aggressive panhandling, incredible open corruption and tax increases with no end in sight are just a few of the reasons. Constant low level threat of violence is everywhere. It cannot be escaped. Going out anywhere your guard is up and you have to be alert. Everyday exposure to this leads to a profound change in one's view of the city and other people and the view is not healthy. Take a look around! Everyone has their "battle face" on when out in the city going to work, shopping or just out to a restaurant. Happy smiling people are probably first time tourists.

I will not shop inside the city now, if bags are involved. My grocer of choice is one block outside of Chicago and, since I pass it daily anyway, it's no inconvenience to stop there.
Home Depot still gets a little business, if I need paint, or something that doesn't require bags. Otherwise, it's a quick trip to an adjacent suburb to load up on the thousands of dollars worth of stuff I buy there every year.

I spend a lot of money on construction-related items. It's more palatable to hand my money to a municipality that doesn't tax me into oblivion.
