Where Did It All Go?

  • Two years after Mayor Rahm Emanuel closed a record 50 schools over low enrollment, officials say they don’t know where many of the computers, desks, books and other items from those buildings ended up.

After being pressed for more than six months on what happened to the classroom equipment, Chicago Public Schools officials now say they don’t have an answer.

They blame bad record-keeping under Barbara Byrd-Bennett, Emanuel’s disgraced former schools chief, who awaits sentencing after pleading guilty in October to steering millions of dollars in CPS contracts to her former employer in exchange for what prosecutors said were promises of kickbacks.
Hahahaha.....blame the woman already going to prison. Rahm can't take another scandal hit it seems, so have Triple-B take the weight, as if she was responsible for the day-to-day security of fifty shuttered buildings.

We remember dozens of comments about scrappers and metal thieves gutting entire school buildings, some of which ended up so damaged that the cheapest thing right now is to bulldoze them and start over. But that was probably part of the plan anyway to enrich some connected companies.

At the end of the day, the answer wil be the stuff ended up being recycled at the green recycling facility on Sacramento near humbolte park. The northside liberals will give him praise

Simple, it is the Chicago Way. Did anyone expect those schools to be closed down, and the contents to just sit there waiting? Not without a 24/7 armed guard on each and every school building.

You know, I am SO tired of hearing all this.

I just might start marching with all the people wanting Rahm to resign.

We may not be on the same page on why, and on polar opposites when it comes to politics, but Rahm has to go.

He is incompetent and so is Anita, and while we are talking about it, so is Dart and Preckwinkle.

Hmmm.. too many Democrats can really spoil a city.

I know - Thank you Captain Obvious.

Well, forget Chiraq, we should have filmed Death Wish 2020 here.

Oh. I bust in somewhere, stash the proceeds, go back to making pizzas, and keep my mouth shut.

So now I got a viable defense, right?

"Don't have an answer."

News is reporting that Rauner and some state republicans have a plan to have CPS declare bankruptcy and then take it out of Rahm's (and the city's) hands and have the state take over. Poor Rahm. Ha.

The second hand furniture business isn't real profitable, but even a buck per piece times fifty schools times twenty rooms times twenty desks plus shelves and chairs and miscellaneous furniture would really add up quickly. And if it was free, ten dollars per is probably a low estimate.

Makes sense, after all, Barbara was the only person running the entire CPS System.
There was no one else in any position in the entire bureaucracy that could possibly be responsible. No One Else!

Besides, everyone already spent all the bribes.

Books that could be used by the few students that really want to learn.

Bankruptcy is in the future of the Chicago public schools and there is no stopping it. Pensions and union contracts become null and void. A mess but they are half a billion in the whole and no amount of tax money from the city will fix it. What does Karen Lewis want to do in light of this mess? Why, she is proposing raises in pay and benefits or a strike.

This property is what is called booty and it belongs to City Hall and the connected pirates. I would challenge anybody at CPS to provide an inventory of what was at each school, what was taken from which school and where it is now. And to all you Medillos, this is the kind of story that used to be headline news with both the public and the US Attorney. But when you all became lap dogs for politicians to the point you were even endorsing the likes of Mr. "I have something golden", people stopped buying your worthless newspapers and now you cannot even give them away.

It all went to the teachers. They bitch and moan like the free loaders of cook county they are. They will cry and cry until they get more and more. But remember... It's all for the kids. Their track record and ability are undeniably the nation's biggest jokes.

1. Highest illiteracy level in the country.
2. Lowest standardized test scores.
3. Amongest the highest money spent per child.
4. Students can graduate without attending class.
5. CTU = Anti Police Union.

Yet they want more more more. Why not just higher new graduates who are bleeding liberals, pay them far less to do the same job? At the end of the day the children are the victims.

It's worse than you think, SCC. As it stated, the contract for GWS went from $7 million to $25 in the matter of months. So who is GWS and who hired them? Who did GWS hire to pack up and move all of the equipment? Where is GWS at right now? $25 million for less than a year of work? Certainly there were more things that got left behind for the "scrappers."

And why was Aramark awarded a $225 mil no bid contract with CPS? Why are parents and teachers cleaning their own schools? Why aren't there any supplies? Why do the schools look like crap?

Why is Magic Johnson suddenly a player in Chicago politics? Why was he suddenly endorsing candidates for Mayor? Why does Magic Johnson have these little Bridgescape offices in neighborhoods? What are they for? Who are they helping? Are these little not for profits set up so that Magic can have a not for profit arm(for the appearances of goodwill, even though they're to serve as a tax write-off), all the while getting contracts under his minority owned portion of Sodexo(Magic)?

And just what is Safe Haven? They have contracts with the schools. They are a not for profit. They are supposed to go to do landscaping and cleanup of the schools. They are a second chance program. They pay people in few dollars, but collect money for bigger salaries for management. But who is behind them, and other similar programs? Hint: it might be governor. Hint: it might be the governor who was once known to pal around with a certain Mayor.

And who signed off on these contracts? Where is he now. Why did he leave in the Fall? What was his relationship to the Mayor?

It's almost as though the powers that be were involved in some sort of collusion. Set it all up to get wiped out. Fail. Slide down the tubes. So the Governor can't make sweeping reforms, one of which is takeover of the schools and a well-deserved bankruptcy. FBI, where are you? This whole thing stinks! Emanuel and all of his friends deserve to be behind bars for pillaging and ruining this once great city. (There is plenty more to this story, and I am sure some of my fellow cops who showed me pictures could send them to SCC).

That shit pisses me off! Here CPS asks parents to pay a recommended fee per student for incidentals($180.00 for elementary/ $560.00 H.S.). It's a public school and I work two jobs and pay taxes. One is for CPS for the past 14 yrs. and one for CPD for the past 18yrs. WTF! I get penalized for working my ass off, paying my taxes, holding 2 jobs, watching my tax money float to so called "under privileged neighborhoods" where they tear the shit up. Meanwhile, I'm paying for my kid's so called "suggested fee" in both elementary and high school. How about more accountability! How about the food purveyors, milk purveyors and exterminators needed for the mandatory breakfast that is served in the rooms during the morning. Their contracts are lucrative. It's okay, don't hold the parents accountable for feeding their kids, transporting their kids to school or taking an ACTIVE PART IN THEIR LIFE. This shit kills me....

The property was probably ordered, invoiced, approved and paid for twice, just never delivered...by the connected third party minority contractor.
Remember those 30 cappuccino machines costing $67,000 CPS bought in 2008, waaaaay before the ByrdBrainBennett days?
I had a burglary at while back at a CPS grade school, during a search of the boiler room area, there in a back room were 6 brand new never used huge snow blowers, smaller snow blowers too, assorted salt spreaders, shovels, etc collecting dust.
Either that was a "spend it or lose it" deal or waiting to be glommed by some thieving employee with a truck.

Bankrupt the CPS and send the Board to prison. Simple fix.

in today's sun-times on cover rahm is attending a DC panel on police trust, as the CPS is going completely bankrupt! obama from Chicago is president and rahm cannot get cash needed to prop up police pensions, and CPS? Is there a huge rift between the former "friends" or is president so weak that he cannot help his hometown? many talk about Bush, but he is from Crawford Texas and that town is well funded guess real presidents know how to take care of their towns.

On another note dick turbin wants more taxpayers money thrown away at illegal "dreamers" to give them free college educations paid for by taxpayers you know the people who pay put their legally born USA children though college! Another liberal dick must go, another reason trump is Trumping all competition. Did you watch debates where Trump spoke out in favor of police everywhere, that's a real man ready to back this country and make it what it should be, he also said he would sign an executive order "If you kill a police officer you will get the federal death penalty" finally speaking out about us being killed thank you Trump!

Now with the state taking over cps, will rahm wear another failure on his lapel? Rahm we know your friend daley started all of this but now your wearing the jacket for it! Come on rahm speak out against king daley! rahm your in washington another seminar on police? come on stop attacking police how many Chicago police officers protect you and your entire family using city owned vehicles everyday sir?

HEY ----- TOLD YOU SO.

New state plan announced = Bankrupt the CPS and takeover the school system. ALL CTU and other school (union) contracts becomes NULL and VOID. Negotiations start at square one.

That's how you break the deadlock and all the power that the CTU thought they had - it just goes right down the drain.

Now all those at the public trough who thought their contract and FAT pensions were iron-clad, just got thrown down the drain.

No negotiations. No tough strikes. No big, radical Union speeches. Now, they go to federal bankruptcy court with their tails between their legs and settle for ten cents on the dollar.

That's what happens when you get too big to negotiate with.

Wake up and see the writing on the wall. The state and all these failing agencies have to pull the plug. Billions $$ don't grow on trees.

That won't happen with FOP. They'll give in to a nickel on the dollar as long as they get their merit promotions.

I know, I know. "Bread and water." Funny until you get your a_s locked up for doing your job.

There simply is not enought money to solve their problems. TEACHERS: you all need to have plan B ready. Retirees will not make it on pensions $.20 on the dollar but this is going to be the reality folks.

Was it City of Chicago or Cook County that got caught with the whole warehouse of expired medications and medical supplies some time back? Material was purchased with our tax money and then not rotated properly through the system and used while it was still good, was just piled in and left to spoil.

Don't recall that anything ever happened to anyone over it, someone was probably just quietly "reassigned" to an even higher-paying job...
