And of course, the Sun Times has to publish the most important qualification right up front in the headline:
The story:
- Thirty-nine candidates, many with big-city policing experience, will vie for the right to replace fired Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy.
The furor over the Laquan McDonald shooting video that triggered a federal civil-rights investigation of the Chicago Police Department appears to have slightly dampened the interest in the $260,004-a-year job.
Whoop-de-do. We'll just say for the record that we don't give two shits what color the Superintendent is. Never have, never will.
We would certainly prefer that he be from the Chicago Police Department, seeing as how the last two outsiders have driven the CPD to this point, but we understand that the "merit" system has left the entire Department bereft of anything resembling competent leadership. We can't think of a single boss that hasn't made one or more promotional ranks via the "meri-clout-orious" process, meaning that somewhere along the way, they owe someone.
We also understand that whomever ends up in the top spot is going to be a puppet of Rahm as he fights for his political life. They are going to be, first and foremost, a tool. Hopefully, Rahm has been practicing with the ventriloquist dummy we sent over last year so that when the superintendent's mouth moves, you don't see Rahm's lips moving along with the script.

We certainly hope that the media does it's homework for once and disqualifies the first name on that list. It isn't too difficult. His name is all over any number of lawsuits and has appeared prominently in a number of posts here and elsewhere.

Don't vote out Fred Waller. Calm, quiet confident leadership have been his attributes. True, he's had a merit ride (maybe 2), but he's a good man who's known to be fair to everyone, but won't hesitate to put his administrative foot in someone's ass when they've got it coming. The Department could do far worse.

I'm betting on Fred Waller. He is a young version of Chuck Ramsey. He is young, charismatic, and has spent a substantial portion of his tenure on the police department in leadership ranks. You put Fred Waller in front of whatever audience, Black, White, Hispanic, Asian and he will inspire confidence and exude uber competence. I'll bet a Fat Man to a Blind Monkey on that and put that on my dead homies......

Worked for Eddie Johnson in 015 when he was a Lt. He was one hell of a guy treated us very well and had our backs. I don't know much about the other possible candidates but I definitely would not mind Eddie Johnson getting the spot.
Who would want this job, black or white. Until the ghetto culture stops glorifying gangs, drugs, single-parent households, guns, never- ending government handouts, and uncontrollable impulsive behavior, none of it is going to stop.
Not withstanding that "Frank Reagan" is a TV character there is much to be gleaned.
Surely some where with in the ranks of CPD there is a Frank Reagan and hopefully
that person will come forward and bring us the leader the dept and the city need.
Everything can't be fixed over night but at least we can get headed in the right direction.

If the criteria begins with race, then I would love to see Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke apply. He won't get the position - he is an putspoken critic of Rev. Al and spoke out against the Ferguson rioters - but who better to deal with the black aldercreatures and the ghetto milieu.
From an outsider like me, he would be an ideal candidate. That's probably why he won't get any consideration whatsoever.

I really don't give 2 sh!ts who the new superintendent is going to be, but since s/he will be appointed as the new chosen one--- will s/he also be wearing a body camera everywhere s/he goes? You know, like, meetings with Rham & the rest of the alder-cronies... Technically s/he will be an "honorary" Chicago police officer & per our "special" citizens of this wonderful city - they want ALL Chicago police officers to wear them at all times while on duty. {I know it'll never happen, but just for sh!ts & giggles)
It would also be interesting if Rham and the rest of his cronies carry a body camera all day long to check out what it is that they actually do & SAY (knowing that they are being recorded)... I worked with Fred Waller when he was a patrolman. He was the police and he was always a nice guy.

The next Super will do the mayor's bidding. Period. And the command staff will fall in line,like always. It won't matter what color they are.
The black community should open their eyes and realize that their Reverends,Aldermen,Jesse Jackson,Al Sharpton,et al,are just taking advantage of them and using them for their own personal gain.
The black community obviously can't see that their demands for everyone to be black is the epitome of racism.

Eugene Williams is all about the black agenda, he was promoted through it and will continue to push it. We don't need a guy who only cares about the black side. Eric Washington is 100% a company guy, first gold star he got he was OK, after his demotion and promotion all he cared about was keeping the gold star. As a commander in 011 he denied time to 2 people who wanted to attend the birth of their children. No rumor, fact. You interpret the term ghetto racist? Jews, Italians and Irish were in ghettos long before blacks. Ghetto is as ghetto does and after observing some of the antics which go on with the higher ranking members of the CPD, the term certainly applies, so there is no generalization intended.
And do you want to know the epitome of racist? Williams being the president of a law enforcement "club" whose membership is defined by the color of their skin, to the exclusion of everyone else. Not defined heritage, culture, or national origin, but by color, pure and simple. Those who decry racism are usually its biggest promoters.
