Hotel Stickup

  • Police are investigating an armed robbery that took place Saturday morning inside Chicago’s Congress Plaza Hotel.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., two male suspects followed one of the victims to his hotel room in the 500 block of South Michigan Avenue and forced their way inside, according to Chicago police.

Three men, each 20-years old, and two women, age 19 and 23, were robbed at gunpoint, according to investigators. The suspects stole the victims’ cell phones, wallets, purses and cash.

The two suspects then fled the room and the victims alerted hotel security who encountered the suspects in the lobby, according to police. After a brief chase, the two suspects escaped through the front entrance of the hotel.
Amazingly, no descriptions in the NBC story, but this can't be good for the tourist trade.

I'm sure they enjoyed the all to common experience of being robbed. When things like this happen they say look to the good side and it could have been worse. So they should be happy that they weren't brutally raped, including the males and that they all weren't killed. Especially this cities homicide rate.

Now that they survived they only have to worry about their credit being ruined and their identity be stolen. Hopefully they had the app to save all their phone data, or they might never see the lovely pictures they had and or some phone numbers are lost forever.

They sure had a wonderful experience in the city that works for the connected.

Every time you turn around people are getting shot, robbed, carjacked.. yet the pathetic excuse for local news reporting goes out of the way to either barely report on it, or when they do, fail to give the details. Except..EXCEPT when one of their own gets taken by crime. Yes,so very sad about the young woman with ABC who was murdered while on vaca in Belize while doing yoga, but does the story really merit so much of our time when we have so much crime and death happening minute by minute in our own backyard? Yes, it's very sad that one of their own was a victim of crime while on vacation in Belize doing yoga. Just horrible. I'm sure she was a decent person. Kind of amusing though that they haven't described the murderer as just someone on their way to turning their life around, or getting ready to go to college or something. They always seem to tilt things in favor of the bad guy, except when the bad guy takes one of them! But why do they feel that this story merits mention non-stop while they go out of their to not report on all the crime happening here or leave out details when they do report on it. German Cop Breaks Ranks: We Are BANNED From Detaining Migrants
http://bit.ly/1mUCxQN

Bernd revealed “95 percent of refugees are single men”.

The officer told the paper the public do not get an accurate idea of what is really happening in the migrant crime wave, because events are mis-reported by police to prevent outrage. He said: “should an asylum seeker cut another’s throat. In the report we would state it was grievous bodily harm rather than attempted murder. It looks better in the statistics”.

Most remarkable in the report of Bernd of conditions on the frontier were the crippling orders he was under duty to follow, even if they made his job near impossible: “If a refugee wants to escape our control, we can’t even detain him. This is dictated from above. To do so would be physical violence”.

Hmm, sound familiar? This is what happens whenever and wherever Leftists are allowed to have power

A horse and a buggy carriage was waiting for them and the two Amish suspects quickly got on and whipped their horses into northwestern Indiana. The Amish community is tight lipped and chances are no one is going to rat them out. Chicago was once a global industrial giant providing middle class opportunities and non-governmental sustenance to so many bungalow belt families. Manufacturing is now a thing of the past as industrial infrastructure was cannibalized by the pound for ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals shopping cart scrappers and leveled for the 10-cent a used brick industry never to return.

Our elected officials touted the new vibrant futuristic economy, one of retail and of hospitality service industries. Michigan Avenue had its share of wildings, drive through burglaries, anarchist protest blocking entrances to businesses while bullying shoppers and occasional shootings. Sales took a dive and everyday Americans did not feel safe in the third largest city on its most affluent business strip.

Next is tourism. Even with wall to wall police in tourist areas, the predatory criminal element infiltrates those places which tourists feel the safest and have an expectation of a crime free experience. Let see in our one party progressive city, manufacturing has been destroyed and soon tourism and the retail industries will follow. If tourism falters and retail takes a dive say bye, bye to the economic health and employment opportunities in this city.

Look to the efforts of those whom traveled your path before you were even born and save yourself a ton of angst. As proven from past efforts, the city holds all the cards and is in a rock solid position. Many others have tried and there was no loophole or wiggle room waiting to be miraculously found. Residency is not going away until the city allows it to go away and that, most likely, will never, ever happen or, at least, not in your lifetime.

As far as your question, "Can we lift the resident(sic) requirement(?)", we, as in you, me and the many others in the employ of the city of Chicago, can't do shit, except make the best out of a bad situation or get hired by another governmental entity that does not require you to live in the city of Chicago.

As long as you are a city of Chicago employee, you are trussed in the residency straight-jacket and it is a straight-jacket that even Harry Houdini would be unable to defeat. Hit Wikipedia if you are unfamiliar with Harry Houdini.

Yeah, well, ask him how much he pays in property tax. It might make you want to stay in Crook Co., believe it or not.

This might change in the near future, though, since Crook taxes are about to go up and up. Still, for now, Crook has relatively low taxes compared to some of the collar counties where the property taxes are out of control.

If anything good can come from the Justice Dept, I hope they expose and erradiate all the horrible leadership we have in the Dept. Break up the club of entitled clout babies who get promoted based on clout. Probably the worst leadership of any Police Dept in the nation. It's no surprise we are eating a shit sandwich. There are some very intelligent people on this job, most are pushing a beat car for someone who is as dumb as a box of rocks. One more thing, pure comedy from certain guys who have always been a dog and coward who are using the current climate as the reason they don't work. To the guys that worked that are slowing down....understandable. To the ones that were always useless...you ain't fooling anyone.

Was that hotel a GUN FREE ZONE?

For the safety of the guests.

It has been known in the past that hotel security comes in with their clipboard and (maybe they are retired or ODPOs) and act real official. They list everything, names addresses, property lost and the out of town victim thinks they have made an official police report. They get back to Podunk Iowa or wherever and file their insurance claim and find out that no such report exists with the Chicago Police Department.

The name of the hotel doesn't get in the news with a robbery and Rahm gets to say "Crime is down."

Want to drive Rahm and Pfleiger absolutely NUTS.

Go to some of these Ghetto stores with some Airsoft pistols and protective gear and stage mock robbery/firearms drills. Coach them on how to score hits and to survive a gunfight .

Rahm and Pfleigher will be absolutely foaming at the mouth.

Trouble is that as we kill off robbers who hit the stores in the Ghetto they will hit in areas on the North and Northwest sides and also people on the streets.

Stay Safe. Be careful where ever you go and with anyone you meet.

She says is on point. Interesting that our media goes out of the way to explain that the suspect is a Guatemalan who plies his trade by crossing the open border into Belize. The immigrant crime problem in the USA is seldom discussed by the media, let alone the offender's race. Let's see if Chuck Gowdie is mugged - Ch. 7 will then mention racial descriptions.

The same problem has occurred with the German media modifying reports of Arab immigrants assaulting & robbing females in Cologne during New Years Eve celebrations. How does any society maintain order if the media refuses to provide all the facts?

At least in Chicago we have SCC.

My take on this is that someone who was already a guest in that room set this whole 'robbery' in motion.
It's not like it hasn't happened before. Why THIS victim? Of all the people staying in the hotel? With the
security in the lobby, clearly the offenders gave off the impression that they were with the victim when he
entered, otherwise security would have challenged them. Something stinks to high heaven with this one.

South/West sides know the hard lesson already. Run the drills on N/NW sides as response to the continuing spread from the jets Daley kicked over as a going-away present to us all.

...but if you want any credibility, regain control of the downtown streets and store entrances and parks and transportation and the very Police Credit Union first.

That place is a dump, just read trip advisor for some good laughs. FYI, seen a victim/offender disembowled there in the hallway and the beautiful carpet coloring made it near impossible to see blood staining. If the sheets/towels used at the scene weren't white, one might have thought it happened somewhere else. But hey, I hear they offer a police discount.

The police chief of Cologne is g-o-n-e over that one -- and every day we get stories like this -- sometimes five and six at a time.

'It's practically impossible to integrate Muslims into Western Europe,' says Czech president as he blames Islamic culture for Cologne sex attacks

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3403603/It-s-impossible-integrate-Muslim-community-Western-Europe-says-president-Czech-Republic.html

Keep reading. Look for videos of the action. Every country in Europe that has admitted "refugees" is having this problem. Gun sales in restrictive Austria up 350%, can't find a shotgun anywhere, no pepper spray left on the shelves. Germany-Sweden-Denmark-Finland, all the same.

You otj patrol guys are warriors to deal everyday with hate and shit thrown at you all.

You guys and girls are in my prayers, I am amazed half of you people are not on the medical everyday. Solo cars on 1st and 3 rd watch ? That is totally like driving in hell. Be safe all.

Tell that to an officer who was fired in our district a few years back for living out of the city. Tell us your name and address and prove your point to us and go public. Lets see what happens. You're full of it.

I retired a few years ago and moved out of state. Not far away but far enough. I paid just over 200K for a three bedroom,2 bath home with two fireplaces and an office on an acre of land. My taxes (3,500) are the same as what I paid in Chicago for a small three bedroom home on a typical sized city lot. I receive no water or sewer bill,no city sticker or "wheel tax" nonsense, my energy bill averages around 170 a month for both gas and electric and I have yet to see anyone walking around with their trousers around their ankles or hear any loud rap "music". I never hear any gun shots except when I go out to my back yard for a little target practice. I may move however because I have my eye on a home with FIVE acres of land and the taxes are just a little higher than what I pay now.
I really didn't want to retire as I loved the job and most of the guys. Still do. But the democrats have absolutely ruined Chicago. I never thought I would say this but I can now see Chicago becoming another Detroit. When you have a political system that caters to the underclass and the criminal element, when the newsmedia along with the mayor paint the Police Department as being corrupt, brutal and out of control, when you allow thugs to block the entrance to stores or other businesses by telling the Police to stand down all for political gain you are starting and accelerating the downfall of that city and that is exactly what is happening in Chicago. I really do wish and hope I'm wrong. But I don't think so.
See you at St. Judes.

How about we start doing police reports like the media does their reporting? I actually wrote an email to Carol Marin from NBC/Sun Times asking why they don't mention race except when it comes to cops as the shooters and the "victims of police" being black and much to my surprise I got a response back. She essentially said they only mention race when they feel there is relevance of race to a story. Meaning something basically motivated by race.

I appreciated the fact that she (or someone on her staff) took the time to reply to little old me. But I still laugh. What is the point on putting out a news story especially if you are titling it "Police need your help in apprehending...." then you don't give an accurate description. What is the point? I mean it is what it is at the end of the day. If the offender(s) are black then so be it. They made their bed so to speak. Why not let them (and their race) lie in it. If blacks are so worried about giving themselves a bad image collectively then don't commit crimes. Then it doesn't matter what the media says. I am not saying to draw unnecessary attention to the fact that the perp is black but if you are giving a description to apprehend someone then give it.

I used to laugh when I was in Englewood. Coppers would give out the description of an offender they were chasing and sometimes neglect to give out the race. I'd often ask over the air who they were chasing (race) and a supervisor told me I needed to stop doing that, LOL. Silly me for asking. I guess it was implied.

Cook County suburbs have high property taxes ( 7-10 thousand) plus you pay for garbage collection and high water and sewer ( 150 a month). But, Will and DuPage are even higher in taxes and fees with most of it going to the schools. The teachers and police and fire are paid way more out here then in Chicago. It is not unheard of to hear about firefighters making 150 grand a year with overtime.

Unless things have changed, the city can tell you where you can live, but they can't tell your family where they can live. I was in IAD before I retired and I saw these cases go by the wayside. As long as the employee maintains a residence in the city and on his/her working days sleeps in the city, he can go to the burbs on his off time and live with his family. The sticky point is it gets expensive to maintain two residences and you don't see your family a few days a week. I was hoping that these rules would be again challenged in court.
