Another Decline

  • Chicago Police officers made dramatically fewer arrests in 2015 than they did in the previous year, according to figures just released by the department.

Total arrests were down 12 percent, but the drop off was even greater for most major crimes, including murder, robbery, burglary and sexual assault.

The Fraternal Order of Police said morale could be a significant factor.
The year-to-year numbers are a better indicator of a broader trend, but this year will be very closely watched. After all, McCompost was bragging about how "crime was down" so it might logically follow that arrests were down, too. But if crime is up and arrests are down - that'll be the proof that Rahm fears. Fetality.

Hey hey!!! The FOP spoke!!! About damn time!!! I mean where have they been??? They should be out there with a huge mirror espousing facts and numbers and letting people know the police ARENT the problem!!! Have a billboard, offer to organize marches against violence in the hood! Offer plans like training for a volunteer auxiliary police force made up of people from the communities to police their own! Think about that!? Tax payere arent on the hook, relieves a significant manpower issue, makes communities accountable and responsible for their own, and show them this job really is not as easy as verbal
Judo! It would be easy and cheap. Give them a flip phone to call anything in and keep
Tabs on which neighborhoods are doing what. And when they cry about crime point the finger right back!! Hello FOP!!! Even if you don't like this idea PLEASE get out there and say SOMETHING!!! It's almost as if Dean's silence has been bought!

This is supposedly a huge matter of contention between the FBI director and Obama. He's warned him that his war on law enforcement would have this effect.

Of course Obama and his family will be surrounded by the secret service for the rest of his life so why should he care?

Especially with the new law they want to pass.

Meanwhile, some lawmakers are trying to limit the public's encounters with police to try to prevent relatively minor confrontations from escalating.

A proposal from Rep. La Shawn Ford, D-Chicago, would require police to give nonviolent offenders notices to appear in court instead making an arrest.

"This would keep people from entering the system and eating the city taxpayers' money," Ford said. "They can get the help they need on the outside, which is much better than putting them in jail."

There is a potential loophole in the bill's language, as it would allow officers to arrest or detain suspects if they believe "that public safety would be jeopardized by the release of the person."

Chicago Police Officer Allyson Bogdalek was “untruthful” during a 2011 court hearing for Ranceallen Hankerson, who was charged with armed robbery and attempted murder in connection with a violent liquor store stick-up on the South Side a year earlier.

While under oath on the stand, Bogdalek told the courtroom she hadn’t shown the liquor store owner – who was shot in the leg during the 2010 robbery – a photo spread with Hankerson’s picture prior to his arrest.

In reality, she had shown the owner Hankerson’s photo, but the victim initially failed to identify Hankerson as the assailant – a critical piece of information for Hankerson’s defense, according to court records and interviews.

The left wingers and anti-cop crowd are of the firm belief that a police officer should never shoot a fleeing suspect, no matter what the suspect did. If you can't catch them, they go free. No shots fired in the back under any circumstances. Don't laugh, they are serious and attempting to make this policy if not law, and you can be fired for violating policy. Kim Fox, the preckwinkle candidate, is campaigning on prompt prosecution of the police, citing what happened in Baltimore. Now the campaign hinges on who can arrest and prosecute police the fastest.

Crime stats will be down because they are recorded based on reports given to victims and arrest.
As police are taking a step back to look at how they want to deal with the possibility of losing everything
Because of the actions that take a millisecond are played out of minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years. So yes I'm as a police officer I will do what is asked of me which is answering calls and providing reports when necessary and at all cost don't arrest anyone unless they victim has signed the complaint. Because being a proactive police officer is completely gone. Thank you ACLU, city of Chicago and the stupid liberals for allowing the police that protect this city to second guess Everything they do that will make officer do the minimum required.
Hope the citizens of Chicago start looking at conceal and carry since this will be the norm of first response to a crime since the police officer don't want to lose everything they worked so hard for be taken away from a split second decision

The Great Decline continues --

4 hurt in Bronzeville shooting, second in neighborhood in 5 hours

"Four teens were injured when someone shot up their van in the Bronzeville neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, about 10 blocks south of where another person was shot a few hours earlier.

"The most recent shooting happened at 48th Street and King Drive about 3:40 p.m. Two boys, 16 and 17, were SHOT IN THE BACK and taken to Stroger Hospital. A 16-year-old boy suffered a thigh wound and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and a 15-year-old boy suffered cuts from broken glass and was taken to Comer Children's Hospital.

"Their conditions were stabilized, and police said none was cooperating with police."

Really am losing my mind here. Whole vanload gets shot up -- TWO SHOT IN BACK -- which Jesse says "police" aren't supposed to do, like 1 1/2-second tactical situations were like lining up on the range or something -- and now it's "NONE WILL COOPERATE WITH POLICE."

Our new "All LaQuan, All The Time"-format radio stations here are completely ignoring "no snitchin" and instead repeating and repeating the various "calls" for "an end to the police code of silence."

Need me a 175-can, ultra-insulated, Cajun-grade beer chest, clipped to the deck in a low-draft, water-jet surplus aluminum boat with a nice 289 in it, and the most remote bayou you could find, but can't afford it.

Maybe a rubber raft and a paddle? ANYTHING to get away from this noise here.
