No Retro for Anyone!

Well, except the sergeants it seems. Rahm is yanking everyone's chain
  • Rank-and-file Chicago Police officers are not the only ones at risk of losing their retroactive pay raise. Mayor Rahm Emanuel is trying to deny nearly two years’ worth of back pay to 3,000 civilian city employees, their union charged Tuesday.

The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Council 31 disclosed that portion of the city’s offer in an attempt to turn up the heat on Emanuel to negotiate a fair replacement for a contract that expired more than a year ago and last gave AFSMCE members a pay raise on Jan. 1, 2012.
Remember, it's evil republicans threatening to destroy union representation among government workers - except where it's the democrats in power actually doing it. Oh politics, you slay us.

We wont get retro! Unless Illinois Labor Board rules in favor of mikey. Sgt got 2% for last 6 months of 2012. And 2% for all 2013. With mikey not sending letter our contract goes to July 2013. Which means a lose of 3% retro.costing every po thousands. Thanks Mikey.

The sole reason Citizen's United was created, was to eliminate unions.

Once BOTH sides could pander to unlimited money from the private sector union money never stood a chance.

Democrats pushed Citizens United. It was sold as "you wanna get rid of unions, then we need more of YOUR money to fight them".

They were obliged, unions can't pay what the rich will pay, so Dems no longer give a fuck about union money.

And they know union members don't vote, and if they did they still wouldn't overtake the rest of the state or country.

So, there you go. You no longer have a choice as to who to vote for. They're all gonna porchfuck the unions, and public service employees.

I heard that current CPD will be put into the Obamacare Exchanges starting next year.

Health care

Pay more, get less: Introducing ObamaCare in Illinois
Published September 25, 2013
watchdog.org

At best, folks in Illinois looking for insurance on the Obamacare exchanges will pay a little bit more than they currently do for health insurance.

But while they'll be paying a little bit more, they'll be getting an awful lot less.

The state released the price for insurance premiums to be offered through the Obamacare exchanges starting Oct 1 and the numbers aren't pretty.

But that's not the message pushed by the Illinois chief executive.

"Illinois residents will be able to select a plan that is affordable and meets the healthcare needs of their families. The number and quality of affordable health plans that will be offered through the Illinois Marketplace is impressive," Gov. Pat Quinn crows in a statement.

Quinn goes on to brag that "Illinois' rates are lower than was predicted by HHS and lower than many other states."

Lower than expected does not mean low cost.

Just be happy you got a job. Forget a new contract, leave it as it is. Any raise will just get goobled up with new medical increases and other costs.

Dems throw some bones to poor blacks and hispanics to get them to the polls. Republicans throw the same bones to poor, rural whites to get them to the polls. Each makes a big deal of a few social issues that really don't mean shit in the larger scheme of things. They're no longer competing parties but rival mobs fighting over the spoils of office.

At the end of the day, both are bought, paid for and controlled by the big banks, corporations and China lobby. And both will continue to screw over everyday Americans until some political force rises to counter them.

So Ade got 2% for the 1st year but he opens the door at 2% for retiree health care costs? Anyone want to bet that is a lot higher than 2% in a couple of years?

And Ade still promises to lobby downstate on his own time against our cola's?

I vote for who I think is the best candidate. Every time. For every office. And, once in awhile, that candidate's a Democrat. Not often, but sometimes.
Why is it you think 'everyone' - except YOU, of course - votes Democrat?
Your post would make more sense if it was a rant about the Chicago Democrats STEALING election after election.

Rahm is a bigger union buster than any Republican around. Yet the unions, (maybe not so much us or the fire fighters) but the trade unions and Chicago Teachers Union, will still encourage their members to keep voting Democratic.

Yes you did. But I don't see how current sgts can vote away current retirees benefits. The pension cannot be diminished under state law

NO.. not Ade.

The arbitrator made it 2%.

Emanual wants ALL city workers and retirees (not covered by this deal) to be on Obama Care by 2017 with the rest of the slugs.
