Bears on the Road

Sunday night, no major injuries, against a Pittsburgh team that hasn't won yet, favored by 2.  And they have yet to cover a spread.

This is it - the season relies on THIS GAME!

Well, no, not really. But we got nothing else to fill the spaces today, so here's a post.

Hi! It's me, Superintendent Garry McTwitter! If you want my Compstat Lock of the Week, the Pittsburg Steelers cover against the Chicago Bears. Take the under, too!

Since the Steelers lost SB45, they have been sliding downward. Too many pieces, like O-line, defensive secondary, got old together. Receiving corp mediocre.

Polamalu is over-rated. Gambles and makes big plays...also get scorched big time. A lot of his hits are borderline late.

Big Ben can be a beast, extending plays with his size and bulk. But there is not much on the other end.

If Cutler doesn't play boneheaded (usually doesn't) Bears should be OK in this one.

Hope they don't take Pitt for granted. And I hope Cutler watches for polomalu (sp?) to time the snap count and jump the line. He's done it the last two weeks.

Rumor is the Hawk is on suicide watch after the dreadful White Sox blew a 6 run 9th inning lead.

We should win by 10, but this is the Bears.

Tough game for Bears. Steelers looking at 0-3 if they lose, so it's a must win for them. Look for lots and lots of points tonight. Get it? Somewhere OVER the rainbow... footballs fly.

This will be a difficult game for the Bears. It is a night game on the road and traditionally the Bears do not play well at night on the road. Pittsburg also needs this game, and their fans are every bit as loud and crazy as any one in the league. With an improved Offensive line and a new competent coach the Bears are better than last year, but they also could very easily be 0&2 rather than 2&0. It will be a close hard fought game. My prediction: Steelers 17 Bears 10.

The Bears will once again be one of the best of the worst teams. They can beat all the bad teams but will not compete with the really good teams. Its just what they do.

Whatcha think?
Did we get lucky on this one or does Pitts stink that bad.
It was nice to see a better "O" line these last few games.
Time will tell.

A weak 3-0 team for sure. Play calling was weak and they won't get turnovers like that every week. Peanut is a mediocre cover man now and Melton will be out whole season for sure....Seattle vs. Denver in Superbowl...nothing else matters

The Bears looked good Sunday. What's all this talk about how weak they are? Some of you sound like biased East Coast TV commentators.

Give them a couple more weeks to solidify their game plan. They will be tough to beat.

The Steelers looked confused.

I say the Bears will at least make the playoffs. The best thing they did was put those new tackles on the offensive line.

The Bears are a stronger team than what some of you "experts" think. Most of you lost money on Sunday night.

Hardy harh-har.

First, Denver can very easily wind up 10-6 or 11-5. They don't play all pushovers in their remaining games. Not to mention they have a huge advantage playing in that oxygen thin Mile High air and seven upcoming games are away games. (poor poor Peyton)

Secondly, Seattle...whoop-dee-doo. Every year it's the same thing; Seattle, Seattle, Seattle, but then...they're gone. Of their 3 games, one was @ Panthers (1-2) and they barely won that with 12 whopping points. The fact is they're only strong at home, one huge Echo Dome, and its not a 12th man, but a 12th thru 15th man. Seven of Seattle's remaining games are away -- oh-oh -- and they can easily lose 6 to 7 games, that's 10-6 or 9-7 for the year (mommy-mommy help).

Last but not least: Da Bears 'A weak team', uh-huh only in your mind Cheese-Head. Or are you Garry McCarthy pining away about your NY teams.

1) Name the last time Da Bears were able to overcome being behind in the 2nd half, then put it together and win games in the 4th Quarter? Answer --> Not since Never.
2) Name the last time Da Bears were able to overcome from being behind TWO strong winning teams in consecutive weeks like Cincy & Minn and win? Answer --> Oh..like when George Halas played.
3) Name the last time Da bears were able to literally have their way with a 3-4 Defense? See --> NEVER.
4) Name the last time Da Bears didn't look like complete fools playing on National Television? See ---> Never, basically. (They've won a couple in recent history but they were gifts)

As to Play Calling...
First, I don't know what game you watched but Da Bears owned the Steelers in the first half. Cutler was getting his passes off in under 2 Seconds, the O-Line was top notch, and Forte racked up yard after yard. A 3rd Qtr lull is commonplace for all teams after a 1st half, and points, Da Bears had. But when it counted in the 4th Q -- snap-bang-pow -- Da Bears were back on a roll.

Secondly, Peanut Tillman was injured and not 100%, Sat his status questionable. And in case you don't know, No Defense will stop every play -- the other guys are Pros too -- so yeah, they won't get turnovers like that every game. But the bottom-line idea is to win and that takes every player that takes the field.

Da Bears 12-4. Division & NFC Champs. Super Bowl vs Kansas City or Miami. Bears WIN!!
