Suspect in Custody

  • Authorities are interviewing a ‘person of interest’ after a Chicago Police officer was hit in the head with a baseball bat while trying to break up a fight in the West Englewood neighborhood early Saturday police said.

No charges have been filed yet but detectives are interviewing a person of interest, police said.
Updates as we get them.

I hope this suspect is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Wait! I must be dreaming. This is Cook County and even if you fucking take a bat to an officer's head, you will probably get like six years and then half the time off for good behavior and more time off the sentence for other various deeds. All in all, this animal if found guilty will do like 1.2 to 2.2 years.

My only prayers are that ultimately either he gets his real justice in prison or out on the streets. The kind that results in his death. People like him will never be productive members in our society.

God speed officer and may you have a full recovery.

"The person being questioned has an arrest record that includes murder charges in 2004, according to court documents. He was found not guilty and released in 2006. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine."

Nice. Real nice. Typical of Cook county justice. I understand totality of the circumstance, but lets say this guy gets off again. Only a matter of time until he tries to kill another Cop. I hope he rots.

Prayers to the Officer and his family and may he recover fast and well.

The time has come for all Officers to ensure that we back each other up by having at least one car backing the assigned car to a call. Damn it if the calls for service have to wait. Safety first.

To beginwith, it's SCC not SSC.

And to conclude, it's "duty OF care" not duty TO care. Big difference.

Since when is "no snitching" the code of the ghetto? Some of you guys lay it on thick. Quite frequently someone will post that Shortshanks and scores of other IL, Cook County, and Chgo politicians have continued to escape justice for their blatant and widespread corruption and graft. Well boy-o, aint nobody snitchin' on them apparently...I bet if one of your fellow officers violated a GO you'd be the first to drop an anonymous note huh? Yeah right...then quit crying. Why you would expect cooperation from a mob of people who were already in violation of the law, thus potentially against us, is beyond me. This whole everyone gives up the goods besides the ghetto thing is a joke.

good work by the detectives involved for piecing this whole thing together... The guy ended up turning himself in with his attorney at area 2... but the funny thing is, the entire team of fugitive apprehension was waiting to "place him into custody" in the parking lot. While the entire team was processing the guy who turned himself in with his attorney, I heard one of the coppers from fugitive bragging on the phone how they "tracked" down and caught they guy who tried to kill they coppers.... anyways, good work by the detectives. you worked hard on this one, and to fugitive apprehension... ummm, thanks for getting the arrest paperwork together.... boners.

WOW!!! I guess it hurts when the truth comes out. But yeah, the guy did turn himself in and the dics did put this all together.. but that team from fugitive is well known for looking over the dics paperwork to get a headstart of getting a "quick head" so they can go back to doing nothing for the rest of the week. not hatin, not jealous, im sure I would do the same with a gig.. just pointing out the obvious. I love the part about taking credit for the arrest.. if you ask one of them im sure they were out "searching for him all day and night".. yeah, ok. we love watching you guys all day long sitting in the dics office feet up, looking on the internet screwing around till the detectives HAND you guy an alert.

SCC, can you please create a post that addresses why this 007th District copper (with only 3-4 years on the job) was working 10-99 on 1st watch in Englewood on a Saturday night ? And why the 007th District XO and Commander aren't catching any heat over this. I work in 007 and its friggin' amazing how "Bobble Head" (XO) and Leo are completely dodging any sort of blame on this one. I was working and on scene that night, and it is a 100% guarantee that this wouldnt have happened if this copper was working with a partner. Either 1) the bad guy wouldnt have even attempted to swing the bat at the copper or 2) the bad guy swings the bat and hits the copper, and the copper's partner shoots and kills the bad guy.

Just to clarify, Fugitive doesn't get involved in a case UNTIL there is a IA or Warrant, that's what they do. In this case, the whole unit worked on it around the clock, and actually went to several areas of the state following up leads on this piece of shit. One of the Dets in the unit got the offender to turn himself into him at Area Central, he was then taken to Area 2. A great job was also done by the sat and gang teams, gang intel and vri by terrorizing that area and putting the heat on them, it was nice to see.

This was posted on the net, I wonder why I did not hear it from any local news source

A Chicago police officer is hospitalized in serious condition with a fractured skull, a victim of black mob violence.

The as-of-yet unidentified officer was responding to a call early Saturday morning when he found dozens of people in the street, creating mayhem. He immediately called for backup, but instead of waiting for reinforcements, went to the assistance of a woman under attack.

The mob turned on him: He was struck on the head with the bat.

“No one tried to help him or stop the attack,” said one Chicago police officer. “That happens a lot: Mob violence. No assistance. If anything, most of the people are either participating or encouraging the violence. Not trying to help.”

What the stories do not report is more important, say two Chicago police officers: The crowd was black, missing from all the news reports.

“Maybe the paper did not know,” said one of the officers. “Or maybe they did not think it was important to note that fact because it happens all the time. Or maybe, as usual, Chicago media does an awful job of reporting racial violence. Never reporting it because they think that would be racist.”

Get the book that documents what the media won’t tell you: hundreds of episodes in more than 80 American cities since 2010, where groups of blacks are assaulting, intimidating, stalking, threatening, shooting, stabbing and killing victims.

If the police on the beat are restrained from talking about the incident in public, the police blog Second City Cop is not.

The popular website marveled at the naïveté of the Chicago Tribune for reporting: “It’s not clear if the officer was hit on purpose or accidentally while trying to break up the fight.”

Said Second City Cop: “On purpose or accidentally? We’re going to go out on a limb and say if someone is wandering around Englewood with a bat, at one in the morning, they’re not looking for Rahm’s Midnight Softball Leagues. … They’re looking to beat someone, and it doesn’t matter who gets in the way. We charge people who shoot, maim and kill victims, regardless of who the intended target was.”

Also missing from the story is context: “The story does not report that black mob violence against police in black neighborhoods is a regular and intense and dangerous situation,” an officer told WND. “This happens a lot: When we ride through the neighborhood, we are often greeted by black people pointing their index fingers at us as if they were shooting a gun. They shout: CCK. CCK. Chicago Cop Killer. Some have that tattooed on them.”

Some of the violence against police is on video, as were the black mob attacks on police that followed a police shooting last year.

You sound like someone who has only read about the ghetto and has never been hip-deep in their shit. Gang bangers and their complicit extended families are the majority. Good people are the extreme minority. It's not the other way around, as your liberal schooling has taught you. Get a fucking clue.

First dude sounds like a lawyer saying if murder weapons are treated differently then eventually the ghetto will adapt. Let the whole city know, this was not a gun shot to the head and miss. But, intent to murder and 1 or 2 years total is a lot. Remember this thug missed so its shots fired and 19-P.
