Stats and More Stats

  • Trouble in Boystown is prompting new tactics by Chicago police to combat crime in that section of Lakeview.
Some residents complain that social service agencies are attracting people who come to the North Side neighborhood to cause problems.

Boystown is known for its tolerance. But many residents say they will not tolerate being No. 1 when it comes to robberies in Chicago.
Yeah, well, the nearby neighborhood voted for Helen Schiller for years while she moved more halfway houses into the area than any other ward in the city, so you know where that blame lies - with the police (partly):
  • Residents are also complaining about slow response times and say there are not enough officers to respond to all of the calls.

Nolden says he called 911 twice in recent months and says both times waited 15 minutes for police to arrive.

"They were very apologetic for showing up late, that due to staffing issues this kind of fell low on the priority list," Nolden said.
Don't let Rahm hear this. Or McJersey. We're policing smarter now. Manpower is fine. Don't you know murders are down 80% in Roger's Park?
  • The murder rate in Chicago remains two-and-a-half times higher than the national average, but, compared to a quarter-century ago, the total number of killings has actually dropped by more than 50%.
While violence is a major problem in Chicago, one neighborhood has made real progress against it. A new study reported that, since 1990, the biggest drop in homicide anywhere in Chicago has been in Rogers Park's 24th Police District. The study found 80% fewer killings.
All crime looks better when compared to a quarter-century ago - that was near the peak of the "crack wars" if we recall.  This is just more of the ":statistically, things could be worse" type stories that McRahm'sPuppet and Rahm love to run with.  They are applying CompStat to the past.

Why aren't there VRI "boxes" at Central & Irving Pk (portage park), Rodgers park, Boystown? Aren't there taxpayers in these districts? Why isn't their aldermen speaking up for their constituents? We can protect the ghetto dwellers and their constant gang-banging and shooting each other, but we can't protect the other citizens in this city? Demand VRI protection in these areas, too.

How is the consolidation of 019/023 going?

Not too long ago, both districts had nearly 700 Officers between the two of them...

Now they're running about 250 officers in a "super-district" huh?

Consolidation is bullshit!

Just a glorified way to hide the manpower shortage.

Before consolidation of 019/023, 012/013 and 002/021, all 25 original districts were down from their mid 90's manpower peak some 150 to 200 officers per district...

Look around you... It ain't rocket science, it's an intentional reduction of Police staffing by over one third.

Where are the rapids that used to go up on all watches?

The extra wagons?

10-4 units on every watch?

Where did all the people go?

IT DIDN'T USED TO BE SO HARD TO GET TIME OFF BECAUSE WE HAD EXTRA HELP!

So... Where did nearly 5000 Policemen vanish to over the last decade and a half?

1000 to 1200 pairs of new boots on the ground in that time and nearly ALL of them sent to points West and South?

Years of intentionally not posting openings in districts in Area 3 even though they're short-handed because they want to keep coppers from escaping places like Englewood and Harrison when they get burned out?

Just where the fuck did all the Police disappear to?

This is what diversity looks like! You (meaning rich gay white men) built The Center on Halsted. You wanted to help the disenfranchised LGBTQ community. And now you are upset with the ghetto gays because they aren't civilized or adding anything to the community. Me, I'd take civility over diversity any day of the week.

95% of robberies in 019 involve ghetto gays.

In regards to the shootings/homicides. Couple of reasons why numbers aint like they use to be. First offenders don't know how to shoot. Most of time offenders hit there target in ass leg arm. Second medical technology is far more advanced then years past. Therefore Doctors can save more shit heads

Before anyone in 024 gets a big head, lets get something straight. I work there. Due to years of bosses without spines who feel leadership is nagging workers for petty shit (cough, Schloss, cough, Kujawa) the predominant officer in Rogers park is pathetic. Sure you have some good people, though they are a VERY few. The old area three mentality of not making waves, preached by bosses like Boggs, Rottner, and Wick, while taking care of those in a social minority group simply because they are in said group, has absolutely destroyed any work ethic. I have worked in a few districts throughout the south, west, and north sides. The drop in crime is due to two things. Our shitheads are some of the biggest pussies you will ever run into. Truly. It takes them years to retaliate for anything. Coupled with the fact there is no "open air" drug market anymore and you have the reasons for your drop. Not because of any brilliant anti-crime strategies the bosses have implemented and certainly not because of the aggressive blue shirts. I'm sure every district has similar gripes. And just to head off the fuckos who are gonna say "quit complaining and do something about it", I say, welcome to Chicago, it's systemic. A person in my position can only vent and a thank you to SCC for giving a bunch of us a place to do so.

It is a bit ridiculous to compare the murder rate of today to 25 years ago. The advancement in EMS and trauma care in Chicago has advanced in leaps and bounds. A lethal wound of 25 years ago can be a survivable wound with today's EMS and trauma care.

If Eli busted half of them back to a beat car, he'd have more than enough bodies to quell the violence! The teams are comprised of mostly young hair gels looking to avoid midnights...so the solution is actually quite simple...take what you have, Eli, and force them to work! Boystown invited all these gay ghetto thugs into the neighborhood with their liberalism and strength in numbers attitude.

The previous writer is right, the vast majority of crime in the past several years is from these pieces of shit they wanted to help.

At the end of the day, they are all grown men and regardless of their chaps or dress size are capable of going one on one with these shitbirds.

If a few of you boys stand up to the problem rather than cry to the alderman your problem might not go away but it will decrease.

The only time I put the blue lights on in 019 is when there is a 10-1!

Other calls that get response times under 15-20 minutes is a good response time to me, because If I were to get into an accident in this highly congested district, with people walking everywhere while driving to an in progress call, I'm sure no boss will have my back!

Don't like my attitude then get more Police in 019 to help out on all watches!

Other that that, let these mutts kill each other!

They are doing us a favor every time a mutt dies!

No more wasting taxpayers money supporting these scumbags!

Then more cats appear and WANT milk also.

When you STOP putting out more and more milk the cats start roaming the area of where the milk was and look for more idiots to GIVE them milk.

When no milk is GIVEN they find ways to TAKE the milk by any means necessary.

To KEEP your milk,

Don't GIVE any to cats.

The tactical teams are useless in Lakeview area. I live and work in Lakeview area and I never see the unmarked units patrolling on Belmont, Broadway, or Halsted Street. The LT. of Tact. only wants them in Uptown, which can't be denied, considering the most recent shooting. A way to resolve this... Place them all in uniform every day. Get rid of the tact team plain clothes assignments. No need for them, besides you can see them look like the Police a mile away. If you are going to be undercover, play the role and use your undercover skills. Otherwise, wear the uniform. Or do you think your too good for that?

To the stroke unhappy with the tact teams in 019

To remain on tact in any district, all you have to do is outperform the watch.

Nobody in 019 has put any heat on the tact guys by coming in with a lot of activity.

All the times that 019 has been chewed up at COMSTAT, tact has always survived the beatings.

You would prefer they all be in beat cars so you might be able to handle one or two less calls a day. Fast districts handle more calls before they get their coffee than you do in a tour.

So, STFU and quit acting like the blue jean police have to do all the work while you hand in your case report, your two parkers and your slew of 19pauls. It says Chicago Police on the side of your car and on your star. Your cuffs work too, probably just need a good oiling.

Top problem in 019 is the robberies near or after the bars are closing.. ALL tact members cry and bitch is they have to work on the robbery issues and work mids once in a while... And when they do, they come in with pimpy weed arrest far away from where the robberies are happening. And they take 2 to 3 hours inside trying yo figure out which hair-gel is going to be in box one.. All the while, west side mutts causing mayhem.. But they are taught "quantity over quality" arrests just so they can keep that "spot".. Morons
