Off-Duty Attacked
- An off-duty female Chicago Police officer was the victim of an attempted criminal sexual assault Thursday afternoon on the Northwest Side, authorities said.
The officer fought off her attacker, who was described as a male Hispanic riding a bicycle, said police spokesman Adam Collins.
The officer, who was jogging between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. near Peterson and Pulaski, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Officers are searching for the attacker....

There was an attempted CSA on a jogger near there a few years ago, also reported in the SunTimes. I believe he was locked up.
And there was a robbery Sat morning on the corner by Rahms house. Report done but hush hush. No notification to CPIC or news affairs. Didnt want the bad press. Rahms wheels are falling off. And a half block from his house.

I wonder how many there are now. It is truly a shame that beats 1711 and and 1712 are roughly the size of the 15th district and pay probably in the area of 1000 times the property taxes and can't even get proper police coverage.

Because crime like this in white neighborhoods is extremely rare. Maybe white people should start treating criminals in their neighborhoods like the black people do in their neighborhoods.... Whites can say "that's ok criminal, we are very tolerant and understanding of your actions. I'm sure your criminal ways can be blamed on someone else or society in general."
Then, once whites become more tolerant and understanding of criminals, all neighborhoods can become equally screwed up. Equality is most important after all.
Thank God the officer fought off her attacker and is safe. If you are an officer who lives in 16/17 arm yourself at all times, plan on handlling business on your own.

I no longer feel safe taking my kids out for groceries, to the beach, to the park, or on public transportation. I no longer feel safe taking my youngest (a baby) out for a walk after dark when he's fussy and could use a little walk in the fresh air to hit the reset button. Assholes are everywhere now, in every neighborhood, at all hours of the day and night.
I used to defend this city to the suburban relatives who kept asking when we were getting out and moving to the suburbs. There's so little that's defensible anymore. I planned on raising a family here. Looks like now, we're getting out as soon as we can afford to. Here's hoping we can get out before bad luck strikes too close to home. Waiting a year for those CCW permits is too long. It's ridiculous and sad.

o17th District has three beat cars in the ten sector, from Lawrence north to Devon and only one or two rapids working each night. Then there are not enough cars for mids so they end up waiting on cars or afternoons go in. How does this help the taxpayers in this area? IT DOESN'T. They get less police service than one box on VRI.
OT-There was a shooting at a south side school earlier. I thought all schools were in safe passage zones. I guess the gangbangers didn't see the signs posted. What a joke of a mayor we have!

One officer who lives in the area said at least it wasn't in 016, as if there is some mysterious "Border" that keeps criminals out of the White 016th District. Coppers who reside on the Northwest Side live in a fantasy, thinking they are safe. Carry your piece all the time and everywhere, or face the consequences.

The people who live in that area take pride in their neighborhood, obey the law, and expect others to do the same. They don't look the other way, blame the police, and spout bullshit about no snitching- if anyone knew who it was, they would not only tell the police, they would help find the person. That is why neighborhoods like that tend to be safer. So this is, in fact, shocking. Also, since the NW side is known for being an area heavily populated by police, it is rather brazen to go out at midday and try to rape someone at a busy intersection.
If you'd like me to explain why the ground gets wet when it rains, I can do that, too.

While they were working on it someone called a burglary in progress and 16 was there in about 3 minutes into them working on it. Wanted to thank 016 for a quick response. Nice to know the few soldiers there are on Operation Homefront are doing a good job. Now only if we could get more.

I'm not going to insult you by calling you names, but you are incorrect. If the victim is a woman, she has quite a bit of latitude for self defense. If the assailant is a man, she can definitely shoot him. He is stronger than she is. She is fighting for her life. You can't shoot a burglar in the back but even I can shoot an assailant and I'm a big guy. You have to be able to articulate why you were in fear for your life and your actions have to be reasonable.

I've been in 017 for over 10 years now and have eaten at Charcoal Delights and Wolfys exactly one time in those years. Very rarely are there any rapids on 3rd Watch and midnights has down cars damn near every day each week. When I first got there, we had over 300 po's. Now the district is down under 200. There aren't that many "inside spots". If they tossed out the extra po's, I really doubt you could man 1 beat with them. And I mean 1 beat, once per day. Not all 3 watches.

The NW side is slowly but steadily crumbling. But Drinky McStreetlights will read another script from the Mayor's office this week telling the public there are no problems because crime is actually down compared to 3:30 to 9:30 on August 29th of last year.

This is what happens when Democrat strategy fails..."Oh, you're poor, here's money, you have un-fathered kids, here's money, you need a bigger place to live, here's money". Soon liquor stores, bars, Dollar Trees, fast food, and convenience stores realize that anyone with a LINC is habitual and never declined. The beast has been more noticeable this summer. I'm a pretty tough girl, but have given up jogging/biking/hiking solo in the woods. Women on the CPD may be the few women confident enough to go solo on the trail because of their self defense skills.
