Stress On The Job
If you are experiencing some stress on this job then take it easy. Take a few days off. Instead of checking the money box, check the time due box. In a typical year, just by working holidays and r.d.o.'s on holidays and court I accumulate 180 hours of comp time. Intermittently I take two or three days off along with my two r.d.o.'s for a little mini break. It feels great! Too many of us don't take care of ourselves.

This is how we ended up with an end around on the US constitution. You create a crisis and evoke fear so that you can create laws, fines, fees that would not normally be tolerated.
It's how the health care benefits and pensions will be stolen. Create a large enough crisis with the related fear to back it up so that getting only ten cents on the dollar of your pension money sounds like a good deal.

OT: Quinn signed a bill requiring gun owners to check for FOID card of buyer. Wow- this should stop illegal guns! Here's the problem, though. It seems that law abiding citizens already do this, and the law requiring owners to report stolen firearms within 72 hours will do nothing to locate the stolen weapon, while giving the State another loophole to blame and victimize the victim, again!

Big changes coming
To Stress On The Job at 1.19pm,,,,,easier said then done.
I wasn't allowed to extend my furlo because of manpower, I haven't been able to take time off any other time (5 requests so far this year) at any other time I've requested because of manpower.
Officers in my unit have been denied personal days put in months in advance to attend their kid's graduations and (in one case) their daughter's wedding. It was only other officers volunteering to work in their stead that allowed them to go to these important events.
So, yes, it it easier said then done in many unit.
The city has deemed it is more important to put in flower boxes, wrought iron fencing and other BS feel good-make work projects than to keep the CPD up to even minimum manpower requirements

To the folks at CPD TestPrep Study Group thank you so much for offering the free Mock Sergeant Exam. It is so nice that someone does something like that and no strings. I for one was impressed. I am still deciding to sign up but it was a professionally run event from start to finish.

Thank god they just passed another gun law against people who can own weapons legally. These tax paying law abiding citizens are out of control.

Right now McCarthy and the other two stooges are working with Rahm on an exit strategy. Perhaps the three will be heading to the Obama administration as the national gun violence czar, or some other absurd spot. We've certainly picked up our share of Obama staffers in the CPD.
I'm thinking that the next Supe will be from the outside again, maybe the chief from DC or Atlanta.
And to the watches, keep calling for fill-in sergeants, there'll be no sergeant promotions until after 1 January per the budget office.

This guy is dangerous. Last year, some bank robbery suspects ran past his house. 022 tried to talk to him because he has video cameras mounted on his house, they were trying to get some footage of the bad guys. This dentist was full of hate and contempt for the police, made statements about how much he hates the police, acted like a real nut job. Don't bring yourself or your family anywhere near this guy's practice.

Wgn tried to interview some coppers working VRI this morning while holding a box of donuts. The cop with the baseball hat and the sleeve tattoos came off as a real stroke.

There ya go. Typical off duty, armchair quarterback. Someone tries to wire up the police a out a psycho and make sure our brothers and sisters are informed, and you start criticizing what was done or not done.
You weren't there. Neither was I. But I do know the copper that was, and if a meaningful arrest could have been made, it would have. I made a phone call, And this case is alive and well, still being followed up on by the police and the state agency that can actually do something about it long term. This case involved a third party witness, who needed to be interviewed, and the police made the right call to run things down first.
But you want him to take a misdemenor aggravated assault pinch? And then you indict the whole 022nd District? You should learn how to check into something like a veteran copper, if you actually are one, or leave your know-it-all ignorant comments to yourself.
Is someone able to verify that this case with Dr J Covington is still active?
This guy is extremely dangerous and I'd like to know how to move forward with offering more info.
