Gang Art Goes to DC

If there was any doubt in anyone's mind that Luis Gutierrez is a gang supporter, this should put it to rest:
  • A teen's piece of art that was chosen, and then disqualified, to adorn Chicago's vehicle stickers amid concerns of gang imagery is headed to the complex of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
Herbie Pulgar, 15, and his mother will travel to D.C. this week at the request of Rep. Luis Gutierrez. The Chicago Democrat chose Pulgar's design, which the teen said honors police officers, firefighters and paramedics, to represent the district as part of the 2012 Congressional Art Contest.
“Herbie is a great kid who deserves recognition and praise for this wonderful and positive piece of art. I think it’s a credit to Herbie and his family that he chose to honor Chicago’s first responders and I’m very proud to have his artwork represent the Fourth Congressional District in Washington, D.C.," Gutierrez said in a statement.
No mention of Herbie's arrests. Numerous arrests that is. The ones where he admits to being a gang banger. And his gang is going to get national recognition. Gutierrez needs to be shown the door next time he runs for reelection.

for him
i'll bet dollars to doughnuts
it will be gangbangers
his excuse of course will be "it's
for them to have a chance" the politics of chicago was built on the backs of them for years i thought all this "herbie" b/s was finally settled when when some one pointed out to "j-fled" and the city did the job "in-house"
it's grand standing that's all
but the bottom line is where is the $ coming from to do this?

Two things:

1 These gang signs are going to hang in the Capitol ALL YEAR???

2 According to the rules, Gutierrez doesn't have the final say when submitting this "artwork"/"thugwork". It still has to meet suitability standards, etc. after review by a panel.

From the rules: "Artwork will hang in the Capitol for the entire year of the exhibition and cannot be returned to the students earlier.... The final decision regarding the suitability of all artwork for the 2012 Congressional Art Competition exhibition in the Capitol will be made by a panel of qualified persons chaired by the Architect of the Capitol. Artwork must adhere to the policy of the House Office Building Commission. In accordance with this policy, exhibits depicting subjects of contemporary political controversy or a sensationalistic or gruesome nature are not allowed. It is necessary that all artwork be reviewed by the panel chaired by the Architect of the Capitol and any portion not in consonance with the Commission’s policy will be omitted from the exhibit."

Gutierrez is a gangbanger and his district residents don't care. Herbie is symptomatic of our society's loose moral compass that allows people to be celebrated for one narrow aspect of themselves without regard for the broader background of who they really are and what they represent by their actions and behavior. This is much like the rapsters and reality TV stars living large in the public realm - celebrity is more important than leadership values.

Luis already belongs to a gang, The FALN. A vicious terrorist group that set off bombs all over the country in the name of "PR freedom".

Little Louis and gangs go back to his early involvement with the FALN in the 1970's. They were a cadre of terorists who wanted independence for Puerto Rico, which is a great idea since it would take millions of Ricans off of our welfare rolls. However the group was clearly an anti-American terrorist group complete with bombs and Louis was one of their leaders. When the District turned Mexican Louis became the champion of Immigration Rights even though as a PR he is a citizen by birth. But how can you make Illinois blush? We have sent other embarrassments to Congress; Bobby Rush was Minister of Information for the Black Panthers in the 60's and Blago the former Illinois governor in federal prison are all entitled to Congressional Pensions.

Hmmm . . . Little Herbie appears to have multiple arrests for gang-related activity, he identified himself as a gang-banger both to police and on his Facebook page, his daddy is a gang-banger, he joked with his gang friends on Facebook about the artwork showing gang signs, and lo and behold -- the artwork just happens to have gang symbols in it related to the very same gang his daddy is in and that he himself brags about. But I'm sure that's all just one incredible, amazing coincidence, right, Gutierrez?

Look, if there was any evidence that this kid was nothing like his dad and/or that he had turned his life around and had nothing to do with gangs, that's one thing, but EVERYTHING -- including the kid's own words -- says he's a wannabe thug. Awarding this kid is a disgrace.

Shame on the powers that be that those lights were out. Don't know if it's any better now.

They call it decriminalization but it's all about the money.

While I lean towards legalization of pot this maneuver by going half way will reward the drug cartel members that are chopping off heads in Mexico.

The mayor has lost the city. The gangs run it. Maybe the gangs have their own secrete lobby group that is buying the politicians JUST LIKE THE CORPORATIONS IDK.

Study: Pension shortfalls plague 34 states; Illinois farthest behind

Hey, you know what's worse than the pension funding shortfall?

The healthcare shortfall!

The social contracts are being broken.

People that though that their state constitution meant something and provided them with protection are finding out otherwise.

Kind of like people thought that they had freedom of speech, that mortgage contracts meant something, that a signature on a robo-signed foreclosure notice meant fraud, and all the other banking frauds that got a pass. The illegal immigration laws where the city just looks the other way on -- as they pick and choose who to enforce their laws on.

It worked on all that stuff so why not shaft the people with the public pensions too.

Ready for the Rahm's reach-a-round strategy? He's gonna reach out like an apple picker snatching an Iphone...

"According to the Pew Center on the States, 34 states failed to maintain safe levels of money in the pension funds, which most experts agree is about 80 percent of long-term obligations. Four states - Connecticut, Illinois, Kentucky and Rhode Island - didn't even have 55 percent of the money they'll need in the long run."

And when it comes to healthcare it's worse. The state only has five cents for every dollar that is committed to healthcare.

Think that's bad enough?

Well it's gonna get worse. Healthcare expenses are rising at about 9% a year 2~3 times the rate of inflation and they want to cut cost of living increases on top of it all.

Retirement in poverty as the wealth is transferred to Sears, CME Group, Motorola, and to all the corporations and businesses that have clouted contracts with the city and state. The politicians will get a kick back via a campaign donation when those people get paid. What are they going to get from the unions? Zip! So why should they fund the pensions?

They'll play that victim man-in-the-middle game telling us all on how it's about the taxpayers. However it's really about skipping pension plan contributions and giving the money save there to their corporate campaign donating friends as they divy up the proceeds.

Gutierrez is a gang banger, who represents gang bangers. He is old-time FALN. He does not care about police officers, that's for sure. He wants more hispanics allowed into the country to increase his power base.

Naw, Guiterrez isn't gonna bring that fat broad that parked in the handicap space to DC until her baby, little Taseretta, is born.

That chief clown, Ed Burke, must be dying to write the fat ignorant beyatch a check - and then she can rent a party bus after she wins the ghetto lottery.

The trip was 6/19. Note that Gutierrez didn't issue a press release untl 6/18. Note that there was no mention of a contest for selecting the art from 4th District.

Write to ask that "art" is not hung or is taken down, explaining w/ specificity what is inappropriate and disrespectful to hang in any part of the Capitol (w/ an ol) campus:

Hon. Stephen T. Ayers
Architect of the Capitol
U.S. Capitol Building
Washington, DC 20515

Hon. Hansen Clarke
U.S. House of Representatives
1319 Longworth HOB
Washington, DC 20515

Hon. Tim Griffin
U.S. House of Representatives
1232 Longworth HOB
Washington, DC 20515

Write to tell him how inappropriate his selection was/how unfair to not have a contest and not share that this honor was available to his constituents/what a waste of taxpayer dollars sending the wrong message:

Hon. Luis Gutierrez
U.S. House of Representatives
2266 Rayburn HOB
Washington, DC 20515

Louie lives in 16 near Portage Park and gerrymandered the 4th Cong District to include his 2 flat he shares with a daughter and her kids.

Louie might be surprised in the next election, because his new district includes a lot of the NW Side where even the Latinos don't like him.

Around 1988, the Art Institute featured the "controversial Luis in a Dress" painting.

Instead of Herbie's "artwork", choose "Luis in a Dress". :D

Remember how Harold Washington flipped his lid and ordered police to physically remove a painting of himself in bra and panties from the Art Institute?

Whatta town.

Harold was dead. The Black aldermen, Farrakhan, Jackson, et. al. issued the order.

Yeah, now that I think back that sounds right. Harold Washington had a sense of humor, probably would have said "They forgot to paint in the bucket of ribs" or something.

The whole thing was as legal as tearing up Meigs Field in the middle of the night...
