Keeping Tabs on Rahm (UPDATE)

Want to vote on Rahm's performance as mayor?

This website here (TabsOnRahm.org) lets you do that. So far he's averaging 2.1 out of five stars.

Any chance we could drive that down to 1.6 by the close of business today? Go there and vote. The lower the vote, the lower the average gets driven down.

UPDATE: Don't forget to click on the "Staff Appointments" button at the bottom of the page (or just click here.) You get to vote on Rahm's cabinet appointments, including McCompStat himself - who at last count is averaging a 1.8, just slightly above the schools chief. There are only 110 votes or so right now.

UPDATE: We did notice that all of Rahm's ratings have dropped through the 2.0 range and are approaching 1.0 with astonishing rapidity as the vote totals tripled since this morning. Keep up the good work!

Speaking of contracts- where the fuck is Pres Shields? Why the hell was the city allowed to cancel all 5b's without a fight? Where is our equipment for NATO? Did you see those pockets calendars with Mike Shields name on them? Check dog 1 in July, the days are wrong!!! Shields you moron!!! Why the hell are they restricting time due after a judge ruled they could not??? This a fucking joke- fuck this job! Funny, our helmets don't have shields and we don't have Shields- everyone can kiss my fuzzy white ass !!!!!!!!!

4/26/2012 07:49:00 AM

Seriously, retard? The 5b Class action furlough grievance is set for 5/7/12, and FOP won't roll over and take it in the dumper like the sergeants did. Why don't you sign your name so FOP can use you as a witness? Oh, cuz you probably never requested a 5th period furlough but just want to get on this blog and bitch about stuff you clearly know nothing about. STFU, loser.

Dear SCC:
Realizing that it's your blog and certainly your prerogative, I'm still curious as to why you let FOP insult its members here. FOP doesn't allow comments on postings on its website, instead they use your forum to anonymously insult and belittle us.
On their website, they announced a negotiating team. How many beat cops on the team? I hope that Detectives and units aren't overlooked. I am surprised they didn't put retirees on the committee! How many retirees on that FOP board of directors?

Maybe FOP is right, Are we "retarded?"

Click on the first star to vote on the first issue. The star at the far left is "5, terrible," of course.

Each time you vote, you will get a pop-up box that says "You are logged in anonymously; sign up for an account if you want to be able to follow your ratings day-to-day." Just close the little box by clicking in the upper right-hand corner and go on to the next vote.

This way, you remain anonymous.

You know you're going to put Rahm in the toilet where he belongs on everything, every day, so you don't need to "review" anything. >grin<

Wow, SCC, thanks for link. I wish there were zeroes, but because there were not, I voted straight one stars. That felt good to say it like it is since I live here in the city. Rahm lied through his teeth while campaigning and somehow, he ended up getting elected. The one that irks me the most is the lack of police protection due to his use of attrition/fudging the numbers. This city is much less safe for cops and citizens thanks to Rahm.

SCC you should look into putting a post together. IPRA only recommends separation on sustained CR #s. review their website on sustained cases. Its scary stuff.
Not only that, North Chicago buckled today fired an officer due to a guy beating up a pregnant women who then attacked on scene police officers. On top of that a Federal judge ruled there needs to be a trial because a white girl wanted to use drugs but instead got raped and chucked out a window, no mention of the guy who did it. Just when you think it can't get worse on this job, it does. And NATO is around the corner. ANd It comes from this new American attitude where no one can be told what to do, the govt solves all your problems, and no one is wrong but the police. It gets to a point, why not disband all police depts, everyone on there own?

Osama Bin Laden Death Anniversary Prompts FBI, DHS To Release Terror Bulletin

---

Feds are] concerned about violence from al-Qaida's affiliate in Yemen because of increased intelligence chatter in the past six months, The Associated Press has learned.

The Yemen group, known as al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula, or AQAP, has been a persistent concern since 2009, when one of its adherents nearly brought down a jetliner over Detroit on Christmas. In the past six months, counterterrorism officials have seen what they consider an increase in intelligence about potential threats from the group, according to an intelligence official speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive information.

Osama bin Laden was killed during a raid in Pakistan by Navy SEALS on May 1st, 2011. When New Yorkers heard the news, they flooded the streets in celebration. Check out photos from the night below.

How's those austerity plans working out for the rest of the world so far?

--------------

Austerity Creating Backlash Across Europe

PARIS — Romania’s government fell Friday in a no-confidence vote just two months after taking office, the latest government in Europe to crumble amid disputes over unpopular austerity measures.

Some 235 lawmakers voted against the center-right government of Prime Minister Mihai Razvan Ungureanu, four more votes than needed, plunging the country into crisis and raising the prospect of months of political and economic uncertainty.

****

Governments have been collapsing across Europe amid calls by Germany and others for tough austerity measures to help restore confidence in the euro zone, even as some critics complain that aggressive cuts are undermining economic growth and spurring European citizens to protest. The sovereign debt crisis, accompanied by visceral frustration with the extent of painful government spending cuts, has helped unseat leaders in countries including Greece, Ireland, Italy, Portugal and Spain.

***

In recent months, tens of thousands in both Romania and the Czech Republic have staged some of the biggest demonstrations since the fall of communism in 1989, railing against painful cuts and widespread graft. In a telling sign, protesters in both countries have held similar banners calling for a stop to thievery.

In Romania, the government cut salaries and raised the sales tax to try to tame the budget deficit, but the economy has fallen into recession. Emil Boc, whose four-year-old government was toppled in February in a backlash against austerity, called the vote to topple the current Romanian government “a victory for opportunism in politics and party swapping.” But he added, “I take responsibility for this failure.”

Taken from the Kass article.

If they understand the "nature of the beast" than why don't they understand and defend us when we have to deal with them?

They (liberal judges, lawyers and nuts) cannot have it both ways.

What nonsense. How many years to retirement?

"Careful readers know I avoid mentioning the race of people in my columns unless it's relevant. And it's only relevant here because the justices cited it as a reason why she would have been vulnerable — in the same way a judge noted during oral arguments that it would have been like dropping off a black man into the middle of a Ku Klux Klan rally."

You chose a poor case as an example of how the job is becoming worse.

The young woman was mentally unstable and taken from Midway Airport to the 2nd District by the CPD. Due care was not exercised and medical attention was not sought for her. Rather, she was released and allowed to wander into the lair of the animal. Why? Because sworn members of the CPD, not the same color as her, did not keep her from harm, even after her parents called 002 nine times from their home in California.

The parents are seeking 100M for her lifelong care due to CPD putting her in harm's way and the mental and physical injuries sustained at the hand of the animal. They should get every penny and a few heads of sworn brothers and sisters should roll. If the races of everyone involved were reversed, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would be here screaming for justice.

And her attacker was mentioned. According to IDOC, he was paroled just yesterday.

really? you have to ask? how about not enough manpower which makes the city less safe for the taxpayers but also makes it more dangerous for us with little to no backup. how about lying when he said he put "1000 new officers on the street." at least 750 of those "new" officers were from tru and msf which already worked the streets in the most dangerous neighborhoods during peak hours. how about speed cameras? his way of reaching his dirty little hands deeper into the taxpayers' pockets. jacking up the price of city vehicle stickers. jacking up the water bills. not to mention one of his sources told the papers that he wants to "stick it in the ear of the police" this coming contract. how about him trying to turn the general public against us by not one time admitting that the workers, whether police, fire, teachers, s&s etc. are not to blame for the pension mess but the politicians are for decades of mismanagement. who brought nato here? nato is gonna be a disaster with many police officers being injured and millions and millions of dollars in property damage just so rahm can have his little party. 100% of people i've talked to both police and non-police do not want the nato summit here. wake up and take your head out of your ass.

Five people were wounded as they were apparently waiting for a CTA bus this afternoon in the South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.

The shooting happened in the 7900 block of South Jeffery Boulevard, said Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.

Preliminary reports stated the victims were standing at the corner when someone approached on foot and opened fire, striking them. The gunman then fled in a minivan, said Police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

One of the victims, a 19-year-old woman, suffered a gunshot wound to her right side and her back and was taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Zala said.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in his chest and taken in critical condition to Stroger Hospital. Two 17-year-old boys were wounded. One suffered a graze wound and was taken to South Shore Hospital where his condition had stabilized. The other boy was shot in his upper thigh and was taken to Stroger.

A 20-year-old man walked to South Shore Hospital. He was shot in his hand, Zala said.

And guess what else?

No one is in custody and detectives are investigating. Famous last words.

I'll bet this would not be acceptable if it were to happen to the NATO dignitaries! Nope, the entire department would be dispatched in a show of force. There would be none of this: "more officers is not the solution -- we need to learn to be more efficient" or the "broken windows" bullshit.

Obviously, the mayor has lost control of the Sanctuary City.

Listen to the cries of the aldermen that represent our communities. The silence speaks volumes.

Off topic, i recently bought a Garmin GPS, it beeps when you are near a red light camera, and beeps if you are by a speed camera. It posts the speed cameras speed limit and before you pass it, and beeps the closer you get to it, and keeps on beeping if you are over the speed limit. I think its a good investment rather than fork over a few hard earned dollars on Rahms speed cameras.

I will vote in this little charade just because as police officers we don't feel that we can do anything else. We get shut down for even thinking about things let alone doing something about them. And this mayor- he doesn't care about what anyone thinks or wants. He won't answer questions when asked, how many times has he shut down reporters when they ask the questions he doesn't like? I will take a minute out of my day. To click just because he is trying to bust the unions and if anyone thinks he's not, I got a bridge to nowhere I would like to sell you. He's told the teachers union president to go fuck herself, and would probably tell me the same thing if I gave him the chance. Wait till contract time comes up for all the unions, you will see. He doesn't care about his consitutents because he doesn't have too, he doesn't need a job he has way too much money to be concerned with that and how did he go about making so much money? We know its not going to make a difference to him, he will have the quiz shut down. He is also going to try to limit our freedoms in this city, you wait and see, its coming. I click because I want to and not because the insignificant person who runs the insignificant bog tells me to.

someone call a carpenter. This man Rahm's cabinets are falling apart. Now why is that?

---

Chicago Public School’s chief education officer, the second highest position within the school district, plans to resign, according to a source close to the district.

After days of speculation sparked by Noemi Donoso’s absence at the monthly Board of Education meeting Wednesday, and CPS’ denials that the district’s main instructional leader was on her way out, sources confirmed that she was indeed leaving at the end of May. This will be the third cabinet-level position to see a change in a little over two months.

Of all Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s picks for cabinet-level positions at the district, Chicago educators knew the least about Donoso

really? you have to ask? how about not enough manpower which makes the city less safe for the taxpayers but also makes it more dangerous for us with little to no backup. how about lying when he said he put "1000 new officers on the street." at least 750 of those "new" officers were from tru and msf which already worked the streets in the most dangerous neighborhoods during peak hours. how about speed cameras? his way of reaching his dirty little hands deeper into the taxpayers' pockets. jacking up the price of city vehicle stickers. jacking up the water bills. not to mention one of his sources told the papers that he wants to "stick it in the ear of the police" this coming contract. how about him trying to turn the general public against us by not one time admitting that the workers, whether police, fire, teachers, s&s etc. are not to blame for the pension mess but the politicians are for decades of mismanagement. who brought nato here? nato is gonna be a disaster with many police officers being injured and millions and millions of dollars in property damage just so rahm can have his little party. 100% of people i've talked to both police and non-police do not want the nato summit here. wake up and take your head out of your ass.

Ok, I admit those points are compelling.

XO T.L. public transportation blew a gasket when a certain LT J.G. left a used chili cheese hotdog wrapper on his desk. these two guys spend their entire tour feuding. it's like being at home watching my children fight. we could really use an Avenger to save the day!

-----------------------

That certainly is the way to make your voice heard. Post anonymous shit on the blog, lot's of people will surely take you seriously all right.

Whatever you do, do NOT got to FOP General Meetings and Board Meetings and do NOT get involved and make your views known and give your name and star.

Even the goofball Brock Merck goes to the meetings and makes his views known. So does Kevin Jans.

Better to blog anonymously I guess, people might want to quote your anonymous blog posting. Yeah right, about as much as people quote the blabberings scribbled on shithouse walls.

God have mercy on the soul of the moron who posted @ 4/27/2012 03:22: PM that "On top of that a Federal judge ruled there needs to be a trial because a white girl wanted to use drugs but instead got raped and chucked out a window".
This soulless and clueless moron who obviously has no knowledge of that case what so ever, and I'm guessing is a cop, ...I'm at a loss for words here...is a disgrace to our proud calling and the human race in general. Not an informed ounce of brains and a heart of steel. What a great combo. And he still somehow got on the job. Am I ever glad to be retired. He brings shame to all of us who wore the badge proudly. What a piece of shit!

--------------------------------

My reply--the victim-being Bi-Polor-its a myth or misconception that you are insane or unstable, it means who have a lot of energy or are depressed then act in episodes of mania (hense her trip to chicago). It does not mean your pychotic, schizo, or delusional. You don't need a hospital. Maybe visits to a srink and some medication. She seems to be compentant as a med student at UCLA and then flew to Chicago.

This is what really pisses me off, no one is mad at the human being that made a decision to rape and throw her out a stories high window. We don't even know his name. He is not being sued for one penny. His crime was a death penalty type crime. There is no outrage. Hell the person convicted of this crime is already a free person. The family wants millions and these officers fired, but the person that did this won't be sued, deposed or take the stand at this federal trial. What a joke. The fact is from news reports I've read he used drugs with her, then after she refused sex with him, he raped her and tried to kill her. No comment on this guy, huh.

Its horrible this happened, but it could of been prevented. If the person who raped her decided not to. That simple, its on the criminal, why is he getting a pass on this? THE ARREST AND BOND is MUTUALY EXCLUSIVE to the CRIME that waa COMMITED upon her. Is this world filled with mindless automitons that must rape women? Is that the police officers' fault?

Now to your ma'm or sir you are not the police, we never say badge, its button, pin, or star. A police officer as yourself posting the word badge. Some criminals say "whats your badge number" whatever, you might be a friend or part of the lawyer team on behalf of family involved in this case.

Finally, god bless your retirment if true.

Don't lose your words, fill us all in the case, that you have such insight on. Don't forget the person convicted of this crime (who is out & not being sued) that should have been given life in prison for it. But your more mad at me for siding with innocent officers then the guy that did it. Its about money not justice.

I have a Garmin a couple of years, don't know if it will do that. Could you tell me if you have to program it to do that or if it does it automatically? Also, could you please list the model number and what it costs? I'd rather invest a couple hundred bucks than give ANY money to the city.

Also, what are they going to do with all the squad car tickets?

Thanks. I appreciate it.

B. Good riddance, and take Emanuel, Axelrod, and everyone else with you.

Here's my insight. After reading your flawed logic rebuttal, you are still a heartless moron who didn't grasp my post or the other more tempered one that took you to task. And I spent many years working in the Robert Taylor homes and saw the inhumanity there close up. The tragic part is that even after they were all torn down but that last remaining one that stayed too long, it still took one last and final victim that need not have happened. And for what it's worth, I've never heard our badge referred to as "pin" or "button" except by a few youngsters still trying to be hip.In my day it was always star or badge. We didn't have a "pin" party during the academy. Go back down to your computer in your mother's basement and keep dreaming about being the real police.

Got it, your that useless lazy detective, who worked Robert Taylor, and Im the bad guy for asking for judgement or a harsh sentence upon the person who committed this crime, so Im heatless for not blaming the police? I'll be outright, go fuck yourself asshole, what flawed logic? an asshole raped and almost killed a women and its the police officers fault over the person who committed the crime. Yeah Im a youngster, but your are an fuck head that allows this to continue with excuses and bitter remarks, Final victim, ok fuck head, who are the fuck are you? So I get this, you did not arrest the victim, but you blame the police, right. Post your name and I'll post mine. (even if you are retired) Because your a fucking piece of shit, and not the police.

Great! Now we've got a hysterical woman posting hypothetical and totally out of context rants that have strayed so far from the original topic that they are impossible to keep up with and too much trouble to counter one at a time.

SCC, I told that you shouldn't publish my last post because it would escalate and turn into the argument with the wino, rather than just rousting him from the corner and getting on with the day. I guess you're getting a kick out of this.

Kid, I retired with a star and two bars. I'm blue through and through. I'm as disgusted as you are that the justice system fails us so often. It's a crime the way the press treats us and the unfair treatment we receive when we make mistakes. We are also maligned for mistakes we don't make. But we do make mistakes. That girl was put in harms way that night and it was a case of the CPD failing her. It should not have happened. Like that other reader posted, "you chose a poor case as an example of how the job is getting worse".

The Judge made a decision with regards to the forwarding of a civil suit. It had nothing to do with the criminal case. And as far as the offender in that case goes, I'd put my service revolver against his head and pull the trigger in a heart beat if I had the lawful authority to do so.

Standing up for the CPD is absolutely right when they are in the right. Unfortunately, in this case, we were not. I've felt this way from the day the story broke and did not need a Judge to confirm my beliefs. But blindly defending the CPD actually gives us a black eye. And it can make you look foolish.

You mixed apples with oranges in your original post and talked about that case clearly demonstrating that you were not qualified to do so by your lack of understanding the specifics. That's why I called you a moron. Sorry. My bad.

The fact that you were more interested in defending the CPD, rather than examining all of the issues in that case and as a human, being unable to see the complete tragedy that occurred, is why I called you heartless. You probably are not. Just young and uninformed. Again, my bad. I could have tried to enlighten you, rather than just take a potshot at your character.

There! That's it. I'm done with this topic with you. If you post a response, it will be for other peoples eyes, not mine. So give me your best shot if you want. You can have the last word.

A word of advice. If you really want to put the bad guys away, you should brush up on your writing and spelling skills. A well written case report is the first step to getting what otherwise might be a difficult conviction. If your posts were case reports, I would have given them back to you for revision.

Good luck, keep safe, be a good cop, but be a better man.

You are a true jack-off. I worked Housing on my days off. They are animals. 28 years ago we had "pin parties", and the STAR was always known as "The Button".
Keep dreaming if you think that you are the real Police.
