CompStat Casualty

Looks like Indianapolis finally saw the light:
  • After months of turmoil, money going to east coast cronies, annual budget almost spent in the first quarter, bringing in east coast cronies and trying to stick them in a police chain of command at various levels, CompStat downgrading of reported crimes, and a few inquiries into that from NY reporter......well, NY Former Commissioner Frank Straub announced he is resigning.....

    FOP 86 is rejoicing!

Now if only Rahm would see the light about McJersey's bullshit. Or is he waiting for a NATO "incident" to pull the trigger on this "reinventing" of the wheel?

Of course, things could always get worse. thePoliPit.com has a rumor up that Staub might be coming to Chicago.

COMPSTAT is bullshit. My company has been using it because as even the Vice President stated ... "our clients are extremely upset because we're not meeting numbers. We're not meeting those numbers because we're understaffed."

My co-worker was commuting via public transit from Homewood... and due to that and the extreme stress from this Compstat shit, she died on her bathroom floor from the stress causing a severe asthma attack. W actually have a few employees with asthma and you can hear them having severe coughs, etc from the stress. One of them is on FMLA.

I have 10 tens years of business management and can tell you Compstat is definitely a way to exaggerate and inflate numbers however the biggest problem is that if you're even using this that in itself is admitting that your organization is severely understaffed. Your organization is also utilizing Compstat as a method of forcing your employees to do the work of 2+ people.

This may be a right to work state but rest assured, the day is coming very soon will a lawsuit is going to hit very hard.

The FOP should be all over this matter because we have been all under severe stress i can't imagine what a police department would be experiencing in addition to the stress: injuries, etc.

It seems like Chicago political cronies always try to adopt ideas from other areas only once they have been proven failures.

Leomemorial: The stress is relieved when the numbers fit their goals....you just downgrade the crime classifications and no more crime.

EXAMPLE: We can have no murders in the city at all this year, just a few extra "death investigations."

Um, several NY reporters and unnamed other media types have been asking a lot of questions in Chicago too. Hopefully McJerihead is next to go. Chased out of town with his skinny little forked tail between his legs!

And why, oh why, does the media keep asking jfled his opinion on things????? Seriously, he was a failure and a one-term supe.

Will someone please buy his condo and pack up his cats and send him back to any other state???

What the F are ou talking about?
You make no sense comparing Compstat to some private company to something the vice president of the United States said or is it the vice president of your company?

You then ramble onto your sick co-worker and your years of business experience.

For your information: Illinois is NOT a right to work state.

You want the FOP to be all over your perceived compstat matter or the CPD's?

Have another drink, then go to bed. When you wake, perhaps your head will be straight.

Go look at the Indy Star newspaper online. Then look at time line of this Indy Comish.

It reads like Chicago history with Weiss and now MacJersey. All to make the numbers disappear or clean up the rouge police Department.

Keep looking outside of the Departments for these super leaders and they keep failing.

My God, you guys would eat this guy alive. He is the most abrasive guy I've ever seen in a position like that.

His first move upon showing up was to demand that we stand when he walked in the room.

Yea.... that went over well.

It was all down hill from there.

Not to mention the money problems and Straub running the department with a lapdog chief.

Hope you don't get hm but would enjoy watching you guys handle him.

stay safe up there.

Do what I did. Quit. 25 and out. I'm in a much better situation now.My pension and salary from the new gig are more than what I was making on the job. With less headaches, and the same benefits.
I loved the job, but enough is enough.

FWIW...

Is there ANYONE who can illuminate as to what exactly it is that makes all of these misbegotten psuedo-law enforcement children of Bill Bratton such shining examples of law enforcement management?

From what has been seen and demonstrated over the last several years, every last one of these self serving former NYPD management mouth-breathers are the equivalent of drunken, stinking, mental shit bums lolling about on the back of the municipal buses driven by the mayors who allowed these fuckers to ride because they're "experts from NYPD."

Just like bus drivers who hear the paying passengers complaining loudly about the obnoxious, stinking, drunk-ass, crispy critter ridden moony who is making the ride uncomfortable for everyone, the mayors driving the municipal busses don't care because the stink isn't in THEIR nostrils... Yet...

Until they hear the famous and well known urban cry of "EEEYAAAHH! OMG! STOP! LET US OFF! THIS FUNKY MUDDAFUCKAH JUST SHITTED (took a Compstat) ON THE BUS AND NOW HE'S PLAYING WITH IT!"

Bus Driver/Mayor: Nope! No can do... We have a schedule to keep. Nobody on or off until I say so.

Now you got a municipal entity rolling down the damn street with people jumping out the damn windows trying to escape the laughing Compstat-er flinging shit.

One such bus is labelled NYPD... Another, CPD... Indianapolis P.D. and LAPD as well.

Compstat is a daisy-chain of high order political fuckery and unmerited misery & aggravation in furtherance for Policemen.

It's designed to cloak a few idiots with the mantle of "L.E. Executive, Expert & Smartest Muthafuckah In the Police Room So Pay HIM and Fuck The People Who Actually Do The Call Answering, Policing, Bleeding & Dying Because Compstat Is Inherently An Unequal Partnership Predicated On The Policeman As a Peed On Peon."

Too many invested in the fuckery that is Compstat because "doing the RIGHT thing" Policing-wise is politically unpalatable and requires the actual spending of funds allocated for Police resources instead of diversion of same to everything but for the sake of pure political fuckery.

Hmmm... That should cover it.

Whistle-blower blasts VA mental health policies

By Patricia Kime - Staff writer
Posted : Wednesday Apr 25, 2012 15:19:50 EDT

Testimony from a former employee at a New Hampshire Veterans Affairs hospital confirmed what the VA’s inspector general noted in a scathing report released Monday — that VA embellishes its success rates of helping veterans with their mental health care needs.

Taking it further, Nicholas Tolentino, a former mental health administrator at the Manchester VA Medical Center, said VA culture encourages administrators to game performance metrics, lie on VA-wide surveys and emphasize quantity over quality.

For example, at Manchester, the hospital was able to say it was providing therapy to numerous veterans in a timely manner by placing those who needed intense individual psychotherapy into group sessions.

If veterans refused to attend group, they were labeled as “non-compliant” for treatment.

Worse, Tolentino added, this strategy spread to other regional VA hospitals, ensuring that administrations met their performance metrics by failing needy veterans.

“The system is too open to putting numerical performance goals ahead of veterans’ mental health care needs — too susceptible to gaming practices to make facilities ‘look good’ — and too little focused on overseeing the effectiveness of the mental health care,” said Tolentino, a former Navy corpsman and combat veteran.

***

Among the findings in the IG report:

• In 2011, just 49 percent of new patients received a full mental health evaluation within the department’s required window of 14 days, but VA’s 2011 Performance and Accountability Report said 95 percent had been seen within that time frame;

• 64 percent of patients began treatment within 14 days of their desired start date, but VA had reported 95 percent were able to do so. (Although the IG office also called its own reporting into question, noting that often, VA schedulers established the “desired start date” based on appointment availability — sometimes two to three months after the initial mental health screening.)

Nice way to stand by the troops.

Is this the culture and the systems that we want to preserve and protect?

Is there ANY government agency that doesn't have this type of thing going on?

It needs to stop!

We need to get off our azzes and get to the voting booths. We need term limits. We need to be able to do recalls. Four year election cycles are too long. These politicians jobs need to be made "at will employment" like almost everyone else.

Look, elections come around every four years. That means you only get 12 maybe thirteen shots at making a change during your lifetime. How many chances did you blow off already? Time is running out. People need to get involved.
