More Shootings

It was a nice Sunday for the beginning of the day. And then:
  • A man was shot and killed in the Hermosa neighborhood on the Northwest Side this morning, authorities said.

The man, identified as Julio Cintron, 35, was fatally shot in the 4000 block of West Cortland Street, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. The victim was shot just before 10 a.m. near Cortland Street and Keeler Avenue, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer

And let's not forget the south and west sides:

  • A 22-year-old man was fatally shot at a Far South Side liquor store Saturday evening, police said, and a 46-year-old man was killed about 45 minutes later.

At least six others were shot on the South and West sides overnight.

All is well! All is well!

And another police shooting @ 15th and Kostner. Shit-town has REALLY become home to the killing streets. I wonder when McNut is going to address the regular and consistent violent attacks on the cops he (allegedly) leads?

from the Tribune Monday morning:

One dead following Lawndale police shooting

Police shot and killed a theft suspect in the Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side late Sunday.

Police responded to a call of a theft in progress at a building in the 1500 block of South Kostner Avenue about 11:50 p.m., police said.

Ogden District officers were confronted by the suspect in an unoccupied building, according to a statement released by police News Affairs.

When the officers attempted to perform a protective pat down, the suspect removed a handgun from his waistband. A struggle between the subject and an officer ensued and the officers discharged their weapons, fatally striking the suspect, the statement said.

An unidentified man in his 40s was pronounced dead on the scene at 1:15 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

Funny, at roll call we were told to back each other up and then when we go back up after hearing a vehicle doing a stop or getting a call on the air...certain bosses ask "why are you not in your box(beat)? Go back to your beat, stay in your beat!!!!" Which one is it? be in the box/beat, not back the other officers or go out to neighboring beats to back up when calls come out? because we show up to back up other officers when calls come out and we get chewed out...so now we don't leave the box/beat to avoid drama, it is not worth it. Dammed if you do or dammed if you don't. And quite honestly the box/beat thing is just plain stupid. The box/beat concept it is not stopping the homicides, shootings or crime. Why? because if the box car (beat car) goes down, we might or might not have a rapid car to cope or cover the beat. Therefore, another beat has to cover the beat affected...we just don't have the numbers. All it is causing is hurting morale and the way bosses interpret the beax/box integrity because some can't use common sense.

OFF TOPIC.............

Sadly, this is the mindset of the current U.S. administration...not too tough to figure it all out.

After reading the headlines recently about the US soldier who shot up Afghanistan civilians, I couldn’t help noticing an irony. There is all this clamor to try this guy quickly and execute him, never mind his having suffered a traumatic brain injury. Yet this Major Hasan, who shot up Fort Hood while screaming Allah akbar, still hasn’t stood trial, and they are still debating whether he was insane, even with the clear evidence regarding his motive: slay as many infidels as possible. So we have a guy in a war zone who cracks, and he must be executed immediately. But this Muslim psychiatrist who was stateside in a nice safe office all day murders 13, wounds 29 of our own guys, and they try to argue the poor lad suffered post-traumatic stress syndrome, from listening to real soldiers who had actual battle experience. Two and a half years later, they still haven’t tried the murderous bastard.

Just a matter of time before a "shooting" happens in the area of Belmont Ave. and Clark st. in the early morning hours between 0200 to 0700 hours, especially on the weekends!

The 24 hour businesses like the "Starbucks, Clarkes, Subway and Dunkin Donuts in that area are of no help by staying open all night where the jagoff, drunken, "He/She's" like to "hangout" while waiting for their next victims to jump and rob!

Time for these businesses to close their doors at 3 a.m and NOT open until 7 a.m. just like the local bars do, to help clear the streets! If NOT, charge them a special premium license of $10,000 to stay open!

Besides the only people out in the middle of the night are the drunks and assholes!

Why would you want their problems in your business is beyond comprehension!

Remember, "it's for the children"!

Dont sweat it. Rahm and the greatest genius to ever run a police department(McGoof) have "COMPREHENSIVE" gang and gun strategies that are working. Really, they are, just ask em. Just do not call 911 with an emergency during busy times unless you are prepared to wait a few minutes for an answer.

March homicides are already up 50% vs March of last year. We are on a roll, breaking seven year old records too. We might just get a double before the month is over

------------------

By Tracy Swartz posted March 21, 2012 at 12:00 a.m.

Chicago on Wednesday reached 100 homicides for the year—the fastest the city has hit this mark in at least seven years, RedEye and police data show.

Seventeen homicides have been recorded in the last week—including four each on Saturday and Sunday, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police information found.

Chicago has not reached 100 homicides in March since 2004, when the city logged 106 homicides before April 1, according to police data. The city reached 100 homicides last year on April 26, RedEye data shows.

.....

Thirty-three homicides have been recorded so far in March. Police logged 22 homicides in March last year, RedEye found.
