Speed Cameras Guaranteed

This couldn't have been timed any worse. Expect Rahm and company to trot out this example as support for their push for speed cameras city wide shortly:
  • A 6-year-old is dead, and a teenage girl was injured when a car hit them in an Englewood street Saturday night.

The 6-year-old girl -- identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office as Diamond Robinson -- and a 16-year-old girl were crossing the street in the 7000 block of South Loomis Boulevard when a car hit them around 8:20 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Vantaysia Chism, the 16-year-old who was with Diamond, said the driver was speeding, and hit them even though they were in a crosswalk.

Any child's death is a tragedy and our sympathies are extended to the family. But this death is almost certainly going to be exploited by politicians as an excuse to impose fines and create a revenue stream where none existed before.

How many of these speed cameras are going to be in poorer areas of the city where there is a high percentage of folks on the dole?

The problem is that they will install these cameras on every northside block, sticking it to the honest working citizens because they know the tickets will be paid. Let's see the tiny dancer install these on the south and west sides to see how many of these tickets get paid.

Wasn't the driver that hit them on PCP? Yeah, I think so. If a camera was there he would of thought twice about speeding in front of a camera in that state of mind huh?

I hope they got some white shirts out their to teach the parents a lesson on "Broken Windows" and respect for the laws.

Sitting in Starbux (off duty) reading paper yesterday and 3 Slavic M/2's in their 20's discussing all the cameras of the City and then motherfucking the police that sit in the Dunkin Donuts (not the Starbux though). They then discussed why they need Police at all with all this new technology.

My 11 yr old son over heard them and looked at me puzzled. The kid asked me, "Dad did you hear them?" I said, "Yeah I do all the time and I don't let it bother me and it shouldn't bother you". He says "Why?" I said "Because Robots and cameras can not replace many of the functions of what police do, writing tickets is just one thing".

Later on they left and one returned a bit after only to ask the barrister loudly and frantically "do you have cameras on the outside wall?" The girl says "No"! He claimed his car was stolen and there was broken glass all over and he then started alerting everyone inside to check out where they parked to see if their cars were ok.

He then says to her again loudly, "Can you call the police?" He also states in a loud tone" Where is the police when you need one?"

My kid yells out " Probably at the Dunkin Donuts like you say they are". I said, "or being replaced by them cameras" !

The guy stormed out of there all pissed!

High fives were exchanged

Loved it.....smart ass kid!!!

Speed cameras are simply a tax on driving.

There are too many stop signs & other impediments to traffic (speed bumps, circle jerks, etc.). Little wonder people try to make up time by moving faster.

My iPhone has an app that shows locations of stop sign & speed cameras. Many radar detectors also show this info. It's also on the internet.

I've got covers on my plates that distort the number when seen from the sides. You can always use mud, etc.

Many Illinois plates are defective and have started to become unreadable. Secretary of State sent out a notice to change the plates. I advised my friends & relatives not to for this very reason.

Breaking the cameras is illegal, but covering them up or dirtying the lenses with something that will wash off? Good luck prosecuting that.

Speed cameras? So what? We're ready.

Vote with your foot!

Why don't they just install crossing guard cameras?

Cameras for everything!

This way if a kid get's run over while crossing the street it will be on the video and we can automatically send out a citation for a $500 fine. It's not about making the city safer. Some wish that these violations go up and not down as it generates cash flow for the clouted businesses.

OK, I always wanted to see how fast I could throw a baseball.

Nolan Ryan could throw one at blistering 106.07 MPH. WOW

I think I will just hang around where Rahm puts up one of those cameras. Stand just out of sight or behind cover and when some unsuspecting soul comes chugging send the heat to my catcher.

Maybe I'll wrap the ball in aluminum foil.

Some blue-haired old lady is going to get a ticket saying she was doing 88 MPH in a school zone in her Ford Focus.

Maybe I'll try some other techniques. Like a bow and arrow, slingshot or a tuning fork which is how they check radar guns.

Putting them on the main drag is one thing, people don't mess with them generally. Now put them in front of someones house and they will be vandalized to death. This whole movement will collapse when the innocent victims of Rahms revenue bullshit will BB gun, paint gun, any gun and vandalize the shit out of these things, just watch. They put out the street lights in the ghetto all the time , what do you think they will do to the stupid cameras. Coppers wont give a shit either. Maybe a few dumb hairgells. Rahm never believed that protesters would be at his office door either... the masses are getting wise.

Plus, it is easier to collect off of the working stiff Taxpayer than the give - a - shit Welfare Recipient, already living in debt, and unable to be collected from. Welcome to communism, Comrades, the re-distribution of your hard - earned money is just only beginning, thanks to the Communist president of the United States, Barrack Obama, and his Socialist tools everywhere in the Democommunist party, USA. If you think this is bad, just wait and see what will happen if the communist-in-Chief gets re-elected. This is NOTHING yet, compared to what they have secretly planned for you.

Just another scam to get your money people, from the Democommunist Party of Crookago, Crook County, Felon-ois.

The best story of the day. Maybe the week!

My uncle, now dead, used to wax poetic about how you can always find a cop at Dunkin Donuts.

One day, I reminded him that DD might be the only clean place a cop can get warm for ten minutes on a winter night, working 3rd w, or mids. Maybe the only place open with a clean bathroom. And why begrudge a cop a warm cup of coffe while you're home asleep, warm in your bed, you and yours being protected by those of us who aren't warm, safe or dry all night long?

I never darkened his door again. Felt no need to attend his funeral, either. And I find an odd sense of amusement that two of his sons ended up on the fire department.

I don't even know you or your kid, but YOU'RE my real family. (And a very cool one, at that.)

Uhh, you DO live in Chicago, don't you?

I keep trying the voting-thing, but even you can see how successful that's been.

Criminal? Serious accusation. As a P.O., you must also know that traffic violations are only quasi-criminal offenses, and only because you have to post a bond.

The tickets written as a result of speed or stop light cameras aren't ANY kind of criminal offense.

Don't take yourself so seriously.

It takes me one hour to drive the 18 miles to my workplace.
