Slow News Day

Not much going on in the big city. Aside from the regular mayhem we mean:
  • Police are looking for suspects after a man was beaten to death on Chicago's South Side.

The victim was found unresponsive at about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 7900-block of South Greenwood Ave.

    He died shortly thereafter.

Chicago police say a group of four to five men attacked the man.

  • A 19-year-old man has been charged with a shooting in Bronzeville and pointing his gun at police as they responded to the scene on Friday, according to police.

Anthony Robinson faces one count of aggravated assault on a police officer and one count of unlawful use of a weapon, both felonies, Chicago Police News Affairs
  • A man burst into two different Wicker Park apartments to demand beer about 4 a.m. Saturday morning, and he tussled with a man in the second apartment before stabbing him with a corkscrew and sending him to the hospital for 22 stitches, prosecutors said.

Timothy Snyder, 36, spat on a police officer after he was arrested, and he was charged with two counts of home invasion, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated battery to a police officer. Cook County Judge James Brown set his bond at $250,000 Sunday morning.

If we didn't know better, we'd imagine crime was rising.

And since there's no crime, consider this an open post for now.

Read the Hitler German weapons act of 1938. The wording is very similar to the Chicago gun ordinance.

It's a good thing crime is down and Rahm and McNutty have done such a good job maximizing our efficiency so that we're no longer understaffed.
Soon we'll have a few dozen lockup keepers back on the street when the TMA's take over the lockups. This Rahm is fucking brilliant!

This is bizarre ...

Online hackers threaten to expose cartel's secrets
Group called Anonymous demands release of one of their own who was kidnapped
By DANE SCHILLER, HOUSTON CHRONICLE

An international group of online hackers is warning a Mexican drug cartel to release one of its members, kidnapped from a street protest, or it will publish the identities and addresses of the syndicate's associates, from corrupt police to taxi drivers, as well as reveal the syndicates' businesses.

The vow is a bizarre cyber twist to Mexico's ongoing drug war, as a group that has no guns is squaring off against the Zetas, a cartel blamed for thousands of deaths as well as introducing beheadings and other frightening brutality.

"You made a huge mistake by taking one of us. Release him," says a masked man in a video posted online on behalf of the group, Anonymous.

"We cannot defend ourselves with a weapon … but we can do this with their cars, homes, bars, brothels and everything else in their possession," says the man, who is wearing a suit and tie.

"It won't be difficult; we all know who they are and where they are located," says the man, who underlines the group's international ties by speaking Spanish with the accent of a Spaniard while using Mexican slang.

He also implies that the group will expose mainstream journalists who are somehow in cahoots with the Zetas by writing negative articles about....

Crime in places like Wicker Park, Ukrainan Village, UIC, south Loop, west Loop and any other yuppy/gentrified neighborhood that is very close to the ghetto/shitty areas is up. Those neighborhoods make for prime pickings because the criminals live about .5 to 1.5 miles away and thus can come in to the nice neighborhood, steal or rob someone and then quickly go back to their hood.

Crime has skyrocketed in the Bridgeport neighborhood and as a result of a couple of murders and numerous robberies and burglaries, the 009th Distrcit Commander (DJ) has been forced to address these issues tomorrow (01 NOV) in the 009th District station with the citizens of Bridgeport. The Supe may also be in attendance to explain this spike in crime on his watch. I find it humorous that I knew this would happen along with numerous other coppers and you yourself ,SCC said the same thing. If all the police resources are in one part of the city the criminals will move to where the police aren't. Its a no brainer. I wonder what super cop from the Big Apple will say to these people, because he sure as hell can't tell them that their neighborhood along with other communities have been striped of police service. The taxpayers are getting fucked and the ghetto fabulous non taxpayers are getting the tax payers police resorces. This city sucks!!!!

Are we just over reacting? I believe a Ticket and a stern warning would be more than enough punishment for these deranged jagoffs. Putting these creeps in jail does not generate revenue. If the offenders pay the tickets then we have even more money to piss away.

The G8 summit is just around the corner. Do you feel we are prepared as a dept. as well as a city? Not a chance. These fools-upper management-are treating this as if it may not happen or as if things may be OK. History doesn't lie. Ignoring that history can almost guarentee failure.

We are under staffed, unprepared, and in for a gigantic shit storm. Lives are at stake and the city doesn't seem to care one bit.

This is no joke. Major miltary and government aganecies have been sniffing around the city in preparation for something large scale in the very near future.

City official suggests the homeless take cabs

The head of the city’s Department of Family and Support Services had a Marie Antoinette moment on Monday — when she suggested that homeless Chicagoans who need overnight transport this winter “take a cab” to emergency shelters.

After testifying at City Council budget hearings, Commissioner Evelyn Diaz was discussing the $2.4 million, mid-year cut in state funding that forced Mayor Rahm Emanuel to lay off 24 city employees who worked the overnight shift picking up homeless residents and transporting them to shelters.

Diaz was asked what would happen this winter without the overnight shift. How were homeless Chicagoans — many of them suffering from alcohol, substance abuse and mental health problems — supposed to get to emergency shelters overnight? Were they supposed to just hang tough until 8 a.m?

=============================

You know what taxi service they are going to take don't you? The new CPD taxi!

Hell we need that $2.4 million to pay for services to a mayor that doesn't even work for this city any longer. We need that $2.4 million cut to the aldermen and keep their errand boys and security services. What else we gonna cut so that the other 49 alderman can get theirs too or else the city becomes faced with discrimination law suits. I'll bet Jesse Jackson Jr would like some bodyguards and drivers on the taxpayers dime since he's surrounded by contrasty. How about more security for the alderman in that ward where the protestors are. Englewood is pretty dangerous and so is the West side. Betting designate some security over there too.

Oh and write more parkers please. Their must of been a few too many empty seats at the last $32,000 a plate corporate campaign fundraiser.

"Take a cab" ?

You are a joke and a disgrace to humanity city hall.

Protect yourself.

Just don't get caught up in any of the summit shit. A suspension without pay is like a mandatory furlough that saves the city money -- like a layoff or a pay or benefit cut. This self-created crisis that's brewing is perfect to save the city money while playing the victim throwing some officers under the bus in the process.

Do your job -- but protect yourself.
