"Save 013" Rally

Community groups are having a rally and meeting with McCan'tShutUp about closing Wood Street at 2247 W. Chicago Avenue tomorrow.

The rally starts at 1730 and the meeting is at 1830. We understand officers have been told not to show up with any identifiable police clothing and to not identify themselves as the police during the Q&A session.

This is pretty much a foregone conclusion in our opinions, but you never know. Rahm could suddenly change his mind and let a crisis go to waste for the first time in history.

Interesting interactive map of staffing vs. crime rates by district from the Chicago News Cooperative. This should have been page 1 of the Trib and Scum Times but it ran in the New York Times instead

Yet not so much as a peep out of the yuppie Lincoln Park/Lakeview crowd about the closing of their 019th District.

I guess they must be content with 'sharing the pain' and becoming victimized and ignored more often by the politicians and provided much less police service than they are paying for!

yep it's true, the rally, the dog and pony show afterwards. the community has actually signed petitions( just like in the past ) but it's ineveitable. A certain Lt stated that he was told at the Lt's association meeting that at the earliest ,013 would start moving when the new 012th dist. is completed which by his comments appears to be a june opening ( scheduled) but in reality probably Oct of next year. stay tuned boys and girls for Wed's episode of . ' SAVE 013 RALLY'

OT - Speaking of Saving 013, it appears there may be a crisis brewing that will require the expertise of the 019th District that is also set to close...

LAKE FOREST RESIDENTS REPORT SIGNS OF A 'LARGE CAT' IN THE AREA

"Lake Forest residents recently told police about incidents possibly involving a “large cat” that may have been a bobcat or mountain lion on the west side of town".

I work in 013 and have NEVER,EVER been told by ANYONE not to wear anything with a CPD logo on it. Now, having more than an ounce of common sense, I will be at that rally because I want to ask the Superintendent some pointed questions utilizing information that only a Police Officer would have knowlege of. My occupation however is none of the Superintendents, the newsmedia or anyone elses business.

Its only matter of time before ghetto shit realizes where the policecarent! Here's an idea for mccarthy and rahm . Eliminate 13 Commander now , reassign all house cats to street duty . Review officer from 12 could handle both districts .Keep 13 open as a satellite station with Sgt & 1 officer per watch. Get rid of all house cats.
Let Desk Sgt . handle roll calls until officers can be reassigned to new 12th district in june 2012.

I can't believe the University of Chicago, and the people who live in 021 gave up so easily.

What did 9.5 give or promise the University to get them to go along with closing 021?!

Wait til net contract , cops are now afraid to wear anything with cpd logo to a rally . Rahm is going to chew you up and spit you out . Not one ticket or arrest near the alderman ' s office that wants to take away duty availability , uniform allowance and other benefits .
Every car within 2 blocks of ald. house and office should receive a ticket for any violation . Send a message or you will lose plenty .

Maybe your sgt won't give you permission to write the tickets.

You can't possibly be a cop. You have no idea not a clue of a working station and what the desk officers do.Any station.
As for 013 ? Come in anytime....waiting line for report on any watch might be just as long as in DMV

13 & 12 will be consolidated along with 19 & 23 the beats will be redrawn and the excess officer sent south. They will not leave a district with 18 beats look for 12 beats per consolidated districted
Now if the buildings are not closed (19, 13 and 21) then no saving will result.

Why are we saving the 13th Dist? Is it so the Sons of Garribaldi will have somewhere to meet.

Saw McGruff on tv trying to bullshit the residents of the 013th dist. I don't think they bought his ideas. Anytime you close a district station it does affect police service. The money they save on these closings will just be pissed away on more nonsense. If politicians can't put their name on something or brag about it at election time they don't want it.

Was told 013 will be covered like before. Officers will be deployed from 012. But, the city wants to cut down the total number of officers total. So its a good guess officers from both districts will be sent elsewhere.

so the 12th district will cover 13, well the new 12th district will be located at 15th and Blue Island, so when you live at chicago and Leaqvitt you travel halfway across the city to get to your police district, great planning
