Detective Names?

Rumors abound of downtown requesting a list of the "top ten" homicide dicks from every area.

Are we forming a major case squad? Or something along the lines of New York with different grades of detectives?

Top ten shouldnt be hard. Most cant even spell detective. Everyone knows who the go to guys are. And you pray they show up at your shooting.

And the top ten dicks in each area are based on what? The commander's opinion?

Maybe they are trying to prepare for an equalization of intelligent detectives across the 3 new areas.

There's going to be a central homicide unit. Violent crime dicks won't be at the areas anymore.

OT - The commanders office in Area 3 had TEN detectives working inside today! Area 3 SVU has only THREE detectives on the day shift (one on furlo, one rdo and one retiring Friday) There are now MORE SUPERVISORS THAN DETECTIVES working any given day due to RDO's and furlos to handle MISSINGS, CHILD ABUSE HOTLINES, DOMESTICS, JUVENILE PROCESSINGS AND DOMESTIC UPGRADES! Looking at our A&A sheets which are NOT ACCURATE looks like we have more bodies than we actually do!!!!!If we have enough people, why are they LYING ON THE A&A'S??????

10/17/2011 08:21:00 PM
-
They're lying so some people can pursue their own personal business while being paid by the CPD. Some have to tend to their children at home. Some have to tend to closings, divorces and wills, some need to pick up the birthday cake for the DOG out in the suburbs.

And, while THOSE people are covered by their coworkers, or subordinates, the few who are actually at work have to work two or three times a normal caseload to carry the clouted ones who can't be concerned with petty, bothersome police work.

Yes.

And a new TV show, Law and Order Chicago. Each episode will depict a case of corruption by Chicago politicians and the inability of the police to convict anyone because the judges are all controlled by Ed Burke and Mike Madigan!

3 of the 10 must be minorities and 3 of the 10 must be female and do not forget the gay/transgender individual. The list must be politically correct or the City will face another law suit.

TOP DICKS?

FUNNY IF YOU STUDY CLEAR UPS U WILL NOTICE THE CLOUTED DICKS WILL RECEIVE IN CUSTODY HOMICIDES.

MEANING THEY WERE CAUGHT ON THE SCENE WITH THE MURDER WEAPON IN HAND AND BLOOD ALL OVER THE PLACE.

THE REST GET THE BODY FOUND IN THE ALLEY WITH NO WITNESS.

SO SURE THE COMMANDER CAN THINK THEY R THE BEST BUT WHAT DO THEY KNOW. THEY CAN BARELY STAND UP TO COMP-STAT MEETING AND FORM A THOUGHT.

PUT EM ALL IN THE DISTRICTS AND WATCH CLEARANCES DROP. AND IF THE SUPE WANTS TO MAKE DIFFERENT GRADES OF DICKS MORE POWER TO HIM BUT THEN SGT'S WOULD NEED A BUMP IN SALARY AGAIN AND DICK WOULD HAVE TO BE A RANK.

Not a bad idea at all. The same detectives in my Area do all of the heavy lifting. Quite a few get away with doing little real work. Many get away with doing no work.

I'm confident the ass hats that just show up and do nothing will be on the Top 10 list.

Yeah. Another bullshit, divisive idea from McJackass.

How would you begin to figure that out?

OT? A LOT of dumb shit dics make a ton of money.

Clearance Rates? Solving a murder also has a lot do do with luck and whether the 5 to 10 people that usually witness murders will talk to you.

Commanders friends/relatives? That will help morale.

Seniority? See #1 about dumb shit dics.

So you isolate the 10 best dics from each area and have them work by themselves in a separate unit doing murders. So how do the rest of the dics learn from these great detectives if you isolate everyone?

I know the department has been, and is now, full of exempts who would just as soon shit themselves than tell the superintendent that his ideas are bad but, McNewsaffair jocker must have rolled into town with some love potion that gives these awful ideas life.

When does it end?

Here's an idea, how about they hire some more pos and have a Dectectives test instead of playing musical seats. Theres more Interns walking aimlessly around and the cadets were screwed over.

Area 3 isn't the spot feeling the pinch I'm sure. There's a lot of open spots in this department and shuffling people around won't fill void.

And while people are bitching about what's goin on in there units where are they?

Yeah, but this is Chicago. They will more likely give up the best merit dicks that they have. Who in their right mind voluntarily gives up their best for no benefit? they had this years ago, in a different form. The really 'good'' guys put a lot of the killers in prison, only to be freed decades later when DNA acquitted them from the frame-up's, from these 'really good' detectives, now retired and facing gigantic Lawsuits and Civil Rights Violations. But their bosses all said they were really good, at the time.

This is really a dumb move. Closing Areas will only accomplish one thing....pissing off Dicks that are motivated to do their jobs by the almighty dollar that follows.

Saving a few dollars by putting inside Dicks on the street is not nearly worth the gain of about 10 people net. Trust me, the guys that work inside do it for a reason.

The Detective job used to be good, now all you do is type reports and chase witnesses that don't want to coopererate around and then get your case rejected by Cook County ASA's. Just because they needed that witness, that didn't observe anything, so they could lock them in at that. What a waste of time this job has become....

Listen we use to have REAL Detectives on the job, but not anymore. These guys had reputations not only in the Areas but citywide. They were very good at what they did, and the clearance rate was at least 80% if not higher. Thats when the Det. test was actually legit, you got your grade when you left the testing facility and knew if you were gonna make det. Now? Merit....ruined the job and ruined the Det. Division..... I know some so called detectives when they were PO's and they couldnt find their ass with both hands, when they were PO's they couldnt fill out a coherent case report if their life depended on it, now look......... clearance rate at what? 30-45% and they are complaining? Send the bottom 200 to the beat cars where they can at least answer the radio and handle some jobs.... cause with such a low clearance rate they certainly arent doing Detective work.....

Remember..... Some of the "200" may not have been given the same opportunities as other "stellar performers". Sometimes people get stuck in political ruts that are difficult to climb out of and their drive suffers. Yes the D unit has their dogs and workers but it is FILLED with political bullshit that is hard to stomach.
