Anyone ever heard of this outfit? Because we haven't, and we can't find much about them anywhere in a google search. But they certainly have an interesting co-founder listed at "LinkedIn.com":

I just checked on the State of Illinois license look-up site and neither Michael Masters, nor “Shield Point” have a Private Detective Agency or Security Contractor Agency license.
Holding oneself out being either without a license is a crime.
The Secretary of State has no record of Shield Point being an LLC or corp in Illinois.
Neither the company nor Masters is currently licensed by the state for either detective or security.

There is an illegal Mexican Alien running a "security company" on 26 street as armed gaurds for area taverns. He calls him self a "captain" and carries a gun. He was arrested for UUW but the case was ruled no probable cause. Perhaps Masters has taken a page out of the "Captain's" play book?

You do not need to have either a private detective license or a security contractor's license in ordr to open just such a business. It is a common practice in this town and is OK with the state to have a " license holder" listed as a corporate/company officer. There are two former CPD captains who rent their licenses out for a flat monthly fee to others. One worked in 009 and one worked in 022. Figure it out !!

I was in Boston in the mid 90's. Nice town, clean, like Chicago in the 50's. No low down shitheads looking for shit to steal all over the place.
Of course there are shit sections, also South Boston, Irish white punks, and the shithead sections.
But overall, the downtown and near downtown and residential parts seemed real nice. Police were great to me. Big hockey fans.
We have all mostly been here so long we don't notice how shitty it has become here. Two years and I will be retired and I won't be staying here. There are so many nicer places and cheaper places.
Maybe Masters & Rayray will procure a contract for some security work from the City, and provide J-Fled with some much-needed employment. I'm sure Weis
could handle security duties in the parking lot of
Headquarters during 1st watch hours, but he'll have to
bring his own car to sit in now.

People who are in the know register and incorprate either in Nevada or in Deleware. Lower taxes and fees and harder to pierce the corporate veil. And, as I commented earlier, I know people who rent their security contractor and detective liceses out for a monthly fee to companies from out of state and in at least one case to a company in chicago so they can do business. These are connected companies, by the way and have govt. contracts and contracts for major venues.

You DO need an agency license however, as you say, the board of that agency needs a person with an indivdual license....or it can not be in business.

Why? Are you worried ALL the laundry might get aired, not just the laundry south of the Area?
If you had nothing to hide, you wouldn't have anything to worry about.
Hope someone files a complaint with IDFPR-DPR, it's a violation to even advertise services albeit not performing same without a license.
However due to manpower constraints it might take a year before they initiate an investigtion.

Yes, you are correct. You do need an agency license, but there is no test for that license, just another fat fee. And, no, the state agency never checks or investigates anyone ( absent a few complaints) who applies for or holds a state professionallicense. I do know of more then one person who lied there ass off in the application. There is even an attorney out there who runs study groups and claims a 95% pass rate for security and detective exams. Of course, he used to be the state director so I guess he knows what to study?? The exams are not easy so you might need his help!!!
