Right To Carry News

The powers that be are coordinating with the anti-gunners to deny Illinoisans any access to being able to protect themselves. Some of our friends over at IllinoisCarry.com gave us this head's up:
  • I’m hearing from insiders that the anti-gun national and state groups are beginning to gear up to try to stop right-to-carry legislation. Specifically, the Brady Campaign hired Government Navigation Group to lobby for them about two weeks ago and registered Chris Carr. I don’t know much about Carr, but I’ve heard him described by another lobbyist as a “Blago retread.” GNG is owned by Paul Rosenfeld, whose name came up in the Blagojevich investigations, and it seems to specialize in lobbying one unit of government on behalf of another, as Byzantine as that sounds.

Now the rumor is that on Tuesday, there will be a press conference, probably in Chicago, at which Illinois politicians willing to go on the record against RTC will be trotted out. Apparently that means Anita Alvarez, she of the famous “I think there should be a law that nobody can buy a gun” interview.

If any of your readers or contacts get a chance to get to the presser and take photos, I have a use for them down here in Springfield if they’re willing to pass them along; we’d like to do a compare/contrast with IGOLD. Thanks!

    Don Gwinn
As Mr. Gwinn notes, he'd like any photos taken from the press conference forwarded to his organization. The IGOLD (Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day) was a spectacular success, drawing thousands to Springfield for a rally, march, informational meetings and face-to-face lobbying with legislators. It will be interesting to see how few people show up in a metropolis the size of Chicago to support something that 49 states other that Illinois have already decided is a good idea.

Allowing the tax-paying, law-abiding citizen the opportunity to carry a gun to protect himself would make that citizen less dependent on government to protect him by passing more laws that won't work.

He might realize that he doesn't really need governing.

We can't have that, now can we?

It is WAY past time that Illinois join the other 49 states and allow trained, vetted citizens the basic constitutional right of self defense.

Will this be the years Illinois is dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st Century?

Looks like it!

I live in a Southern state. I am a cleric, ordained in the Roman Catholic church, the same church as your neighbor, Father Michael Pfleger. I have a concealed handgun permit and carry two weapons, everywhere, everyday. One is a rather large "boomer", and the other is a smaller backup. This may seem rather odd to you. My decision to carry, and my justification, comes from what I read in the "Catechism of the Catholic Church". In the section that explains the Commandments, it is stated that persons who are responsible for the well being and safety of others (such as heads of families) have the right and RESPONSIBILITY for the safety of those others, and that they should and MUST protect those persons, up to and including taking the life of another, if necessary. Innocent life must be protected and preserved. My closest friend in life, a retired CPD Sgt, Sgt RJO from 006, told me that the reason he chose law enforcement as his life's vocation was that he could not tolerate criminals taking advantage of those weaker than themselves. I believe that this highest calling is heard by those who have stepped up to serve the world by putting on the "Blue". The great thing about the Police is that they willingly fill this need. The sad thing about the Police is that there aren't enough of them, and they are not allowed to perform their mission, and too ofter, suffer because they tried.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank the men and women of Law Enforcement for their hard work and sacrifices that they make to try to make the world a better place. Please know that you are appreciated. May the Lord and St Michael watch over you and those you love, always.

A well armed, and LEGALLY armed society is a polite society.

In memory of Detective Ed Farley, and all those who gave their lives for the innocent.

I also informed his office that illinois politicians trust us enough to vote them in. however they dont trust the voters enough to allow them to be able to protect themselves. Not sure of his position on it. Please call his office if he is your state senator. Let him know how you feel.

Look, I'm a retired CPD PO who took the step and fled Chicago to a place I feel safe. In the south you can carry a weapon (not conceled) in plain view.

Last week there were two illegal aliens held up a jewelry shop with over 100 rounds of ammo. The owner killed one and the other has a bullet in his head. Owner not charged. The sheriff was on TV stating that people have the right to defend their property. Not much robberies occur here. Also, loitering is a sure way of getting your ass locked up. Vehicles with no offical state (not ghetto plates, they don't issue temp plates) license plates is another way to lock your ass up. Offenders think twice about robbing people, places or things.

I personally, while on the job, did not feel safe in Chicago, not even in my own home (with a dog, ADT and burglary bars on every window). This is no way to live. I can only imagine Chicago today. The laws in the south are more strict than in Chicago. The Police here are very pro-active. They are EVERYWHERE, and will stop you in a New York minute (white or black). Oh, there are some who fall between the cracks. No place is absolutely safe, but at least I sleep a whole lot better here than in Chicago.

And another way to curve violence is to publish (Newspaper) who was arrested and why. This way you know if a neighbor or someone you know may be a potential criminal. If this happens, the fools would be running for the hills.

Last but not least, the Police here are well equipped with high tech computers, cameras, caged partition, iron guards on the front of vehicles and shot guns. Can't ask for anything more. I gladly pay taxes here.

I am no gun nut, but feel that we all deserve the right to protect ourselves. Look at Texas and Florida. Crime seems to down as far as personal assault and mugging type crimes.

We do need to elect someone who feels the same way as many right to carry citizens of Illinois. Instead we keep electing liberal tax raising jackasses and what do we get for that except the possibility of getting robbed, raped.

If we are going to live in the wild, wild west here in Chicago, I want the same ability to defend myself as the law breaking jackasses who carry with no regard to the law.

I used to be more liberal in my thinking, but living here in Chicago certainly has changed that.

If there was more jobs someplace else I would take my family out of this city where you can protect yourself, but unfortunately, there are not a lot of options right now.

Bless the CPD for a thankless job they do day and night. Thank you men and women in blue.

I am a retired CPD and I support the right to conceal carry. I really think, and statistics have shown me correct, that this would reduce the crime rate. I would love to see more of these scum gangbangers who attempt to rob or assault peopls get their ass lit up by a citizen who is armed. For starters, refuse any body guards for daley and his family when he is out of office. The same goes for Burke and any other politician or connected person. Pfleger even had bodyguards at one time. Make it against the law for these elected officials to claim that they are " peacekeepers" and can carry concealed ( our lovely aldermen). Once their asses are out there maybe they will change their mind. All of the horror stories that the liberals claim will happen with concealed carry have never been shown to be true in the states that allow concealed carry. Just scare tactics.

The information on the time and location was only released today:

We have a confirmed location for the Press Conference against HB 148 which would
allow the concealed carrying of handguns. The Violence Policy Center will be
releasing National data regarding crimes committed by Concealed Carry Permit
holders and we will be calling for lawmakers to oppose this legislation.

The press conference is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28th at 10:00 AM at the
Blue Room of the James R. Thomspon Center, 100 W. Randolph.

Interesting that they're holding their presser in the same building where the ISRA and Illinois Carry hold the Second Amendment Freedom Rally outdoors every summer. Anyway, if anyone can attend, I would really appreciate photos or, if possible, video. No need to speak up or interact, I'd just like to have clear photos and/or video. Thanks!

Here's 3 real life scenarios:

1. You find yourself enjoying a weekend getaway in Michigan and you're invited over to the Daley compound in Grand Beach. You go to the get together and all of a sudden all hell breaks loose. Young sons and daughters of privilege are throwing punches and swinging Louisville sluggers.

2. You're downtown with a group of friends enjoying an evening of revelry. You decide to stop off in the Rush street area to finish off the night. A great time was had by all. Now the only thing you have on your mind is getting laid or enjoying a burrito. You step outside and have the bad fortune of running into any of the Vanecko clan and some of there politically connected buddies.

3. You're out with your wife and kids maybe showing the kids some of the sights downtown. You find yourself in front of the watertower and start to explain the historical significance of the structure. As you move south on Michigan Avenue to show the kids some of the other sights our beautiful city has to offer You notice a pack of young men in white tee shirts. This pack of CPS honor students aren't on a fieldtrip. They are running amok like a pack of wild hyenas.

All three of these situations are life threatening. When other people have encountered these situations people end up brained, raped and even dead. Please don't let yourself be a victim to these savages. Call your politicians and beg them to allow us to protect ourselves. The life you save could be your own or that of a loved one.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/breaking/chibrknews-man-attacked-beaten-in-grant-park-20110326,0,2337040.story

Parolee charged in Grant Park beating

A 45-year-old man on parole for armed robbery was charged today with robbing, beating and sexually assaulting a man in Grant Park last weekend.

Cortez Foster was arrested Sunday in the Saturday morning assault near the park's General Logan monument in the 800 block of South Michigan Avenue, according to the Cook County state's attorney's office.

Police said the victim, a 65-year-old Northwest suburban man, was assaulted with a tree branch.

[...]

Foster, who was released on parole in May, has previous convictions for armed robbery and robbery. In 2000, he was sentenced to 20 years in prison for armed robbery.

-=-

What do you want to bet Foster was paroled by Gov. "I LOVE CRIMINALS" Quinn?

How would this story been different if there was the right to CCW in Illinois.?

Thanks for the support from law enforcement to finally allow qualified citizens to protect themselves and their families in Illinois.

I would rather have concealed carry and castle doctrine, than the death penalty.

The death penalty means that the victim is dead because they were denied their rights to protect themselves, the police show up after the fact and the murderer sits in prison for years awaiting execution.

I would rather be able to defend myself and stay alive, than be allowed to be killed just so the State has someone to execute.

I'm a retired PO from Chicago. Just got off the phone with gun registration. Seems they changed the law and new we need the equivalent of a city FOID card, for the right to have a gun in my home. Don't have to pay the annual fee to register my guns, except for "non duty" weapons (at $15 apiece now). They keep pushing don't they?

I'm an old-style downstater who takes everything a Chicago denizen has to say with deep distrust. Downstate, the carry laws are a joke, as I suspect they are in Chicago for people who obey the law. Many times, especially on I57, there are lawbreakers with guns who are dealt with by locals with guns. That never happens to show up in the official record.

Those from Chicago who try to offend in downstate Illinois seen to fall prey to their own firearms for some reason. That seems to fuel the "have a gun, get killed bgy it" fever, but we all know what is really happening.

Those of you who follow I57 south on Friday and north on Sunday, reflect that your lives are fragile, and that those you offend are likely not to be asked any questions at all. Have a nice day.
