RWOC? Really?

Someone posted this rumor in the barricade post from yesterday:
  • RWOC for his efforts: wasting countless department resources, endangering the lives of all involved, threatening officers with an AK-47 and being here illegally-not from Mexico. Glad to see our system really works.
Sooooo, he was RWOC? Was he psyched? Without any type of charge at all? Is there an INS hold or notification pending? Because someone nutty enough to tie up most of a District and SWAT team for ten hours certainly deserves a little bit of scrutiny.

It's 024/Area 3. It's like a completely different department up here. You are rewarded for doing less. Expect anything different?

Easy enought to verify. Depending on your level of access, you can check out the MINS on CLEAR or go the arrest que for the 024th District, which is also in CLEAR.

We are ICE now, lol, INS died in 2003. Unfortunately due to the fact your mayor dislikes us, and Chicago is a sanctuary city you can not notify us. Wait for the republican to sit in the office.

I got news for you, SCC. A lot of these 'barricaded incidents' in which the barricaded subject only placed HIM or HERSELF in danger are adjudicated in much that fashion.
a) They are obviously disturbed, addicted, or both
b) The last thing this Dept. would want is for one of these disturbed people to hit one of our lockups and commit the unthinkable. Does the crazy bipolar stripper incident from the 002nd Dist. lockup ring any bells here? Litigation that, we assume, is still ongoing, involving the actions of officers/supervisors of 008 and 002?
c) Any questions? Refer to answer b. Litigation concerns are the top priority in these kinds of incidents now, not much concern about the 'pound of flesh' for tying up SWAT and Detectives/negotiators. That's what they're there for, and when these things go long, they're all well paid for their services.

Proper protocol for every hostage barricade incident:

If the police are not hostages, leave.

The situation will take care of itself each and every time. It is also more likely the situation will resolve peacefully if the police are not there.

I can see it happening if the hospital admits the asshole. Can't sit on a prisoner in the psych ward. Just have ICE pick him up when released.

If it was an HBT, that happens a lot... especially if there was some mental disability with regard to the "offender" RWOC, sent to psych ward...

Fuck the bad guy. Hey good guys, GREAT job. Outstanding. If I'm ever in it, I just pray to Jesus (who's birthday is today) that every one of you is with me. Chicago is lucky to have you and so is the rest of the CPD! Let Freedom Ring.

Remember a few years ago a young Polish guy pulled one of these with a kitchen knife or something, never take me alive &c., far west side of 016. Shot and killed by police. Don't think he had a hostage.
