Operation Santa Coverage

  • It has been seven months since gunfire took the life of Chicago police Officer Thomas Wortham IV outside his parents' home in the Chatham neighborhood.

Yet a visit to the home Sunday by retired and current police officers — dressed as Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and their elves, or on hand to help out — was a reminder that his sacrifice will never be forgotten.

When the officers arrived with coffee mugs and a poinsettia, Wortham's mother, Carolyn, appeared surprised at the turnout of her son's brothers and sisters in blue.
A great big Thank You to everyone who volunteered, contributed or supported the Police Memorial Foundation efforts this year. The families of The Fallen deserve to know that their loved ones' sacrifice is not forgotten.

What a noble effort for the Wortham family! I'm sure it was greatly appreciated! Moments like this make me proud to be a member of this Dept. I only wish there were more of them during these draining J-Fled years.
In the future, I imagine we'll refer the the J-Fled/3M regime as 'the lost years' of the CPD.

God Bless those CPD.

You made a positive impact on this fallen brothers family.
What a GREAT CHRISTMAS PRESENT!

What, no snide comments about Phil?

Say what you want, but Phil comes through time after time when it comes to the CPMF.

God Bless all of our Gold Star families this time of year.

Great showing by all those involved. No matter what those on the 5th floor try to do to put a wedge between us, we will always stick by each other. God bless those who gave the family's a reason to smile.

Just wanted to mention that I was with my 9yr old son on sunday at 99th and Kedzie when, he said "Mom did you see that?" I said what, he said, "Santa was riding in a police car". (i said front or bacK.) No, really "I said it was probably the Santa that helps cpd offciers in need". He just thought that was the best thing he every heard. So I just want to thank all of you for the kindness you show to all our dear officers and family who really need the pick me up. God Bless you all and have a Merry Christmas. Please also remember if you need help please call one of our many services available and tomorrow is always a new day.
