Guess Who's Coming to Town?

  • Former President Bill Clinton is coming to Chicago in January to campaign for mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel.

Before serving in President Barack Obama's White House and representing the North Side of Chicago in Congress, Emanuel worked in Clinton's administration as a senior adviser for policy and strategy.

Clinton is scheduled to headline a public event that highlights Emanuel's role in passing a crime bill that put 100,000 more cops on the street nationally.

The ex-president is coming to campaign for a mayoral challenger? What's wrong with this picture? There is just such an undercurrent of sleaziness to Rahm's entire effort and this is just another hint that something is up.

Because one of the current rumors out of 1600 Pennsylvania ave. is that Obama and Emmanuel had a huge "falling out" a few months ago, and this is Emmanuel’s exit strategy vs getting fired. Obama will back him on paper, and do what the democrats want, but personally, the don’t get along so much anymore.

Emanuel is hitting up the Fire Houses now, trying to win support.

Fuck him, just another Chicago Politician, part of “The Machine”.

The bad thing is, a republican will NEVER win here in Chicago. Waaayyyyy too many thinking their free hand-out will run out.

Just another sad reason chicago is in such bad shape and always will be. We have no real businessmen running the city. Texas, Indiana, and SC all have a budget surplus. What do they have in common? A republican leadership. They are not an entitlement state, so the dead beats come to Illinois and the A-Hole politicians here pay them to get high and in return they get their vote. Too bad Bill Brady didn't win. We are are FUCKED under Quinn and Madigin!!!

Log/C.R. No. 1021212
On 24 October 2008, a complaint was registered with the Independent Police Review Authority, regarding an incident occurring in the 1st District on 15 October 2008, involving the Superintendent of Police, while on duty. It was alleged that the Superintendent participated in a partisan political campaign/activity by way of comments made to a television reporter, brought discredit/disrepute to the Department because of said comments, and was inattentive to his duty. Based on the recording of the interview, and witness/accused interviews, IPRA recommended that the allegation that the Superintendent participated in partisan political campaign/activity be “UNFOUNDED”, in that his comments did not speak to his role or participation in the campaign. Further, IPRA recommended to “SUSTAIN” the allegations that the Superintendent impeded the Police Department’s operations and was inattentive to his duty in that while in uniform and on television he made comments that favored a particular political candidate. IPRA recommended that the Superintendent receive a reprimand.

Yup, 100,000 new cops, some of my co-workers had a 3 year "guarantee of employment" when CHA hired them as Police Officers. I was in the first wave of police layoffs along with around 50 or 60 others that had a 3 year guarantee that they reneged on in less than 1 year from their hire date. But they were told that they had 3 years of guaranteed employment from the government. But, they lied and laid them off.

So all these claims of 100,000 new cops was as usual, horse-shit from these government people. The numbers they claim don't add up because it's not the truth.

I know I want to vote for Rahm! Worthless dwarf.

He didn't shepherd the economy during his 8 years and that is why it started to falter at the end of his disgusting term. It takes a long time to come back again and with the DEMOS not wanting to put the clamps on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, like Pres. G.W. Bush requested them to back in 2002, it was bound to happen. Miguel dal Valle AND Gery Chico are BIG supporters of the "Dream Act". I am of the opinion that until we do something to close our borders and stop the giveaway programs, PARTICULARLY to illegal aliens, we will never recover from our economic downward spiral.

Rewarding illegals with citizenship after "punishing" them by giving them a free college education is not my idea of earning your place in our great nation. MAYBE I could see some possibility after 4 or 5 years of military service, but that would be my limit. Any politician advocating the Act as it was proposed in it's current form will NEVER get my vote. PERIOD.

I'd rather write-in a vote for Charles Manson... he'd probably be a better mayor anyway!

I know he wore a lot of hats under the various
Shortshanks administrations, but he'll be the
most fair. Del Valle, while a decent man, won't
be a viable candidate after the February runoff
election, and will likely throw his support behind
Chico after that. Mosley Braun and Davis will cancel each other out, and I would expect one of them will
likely drop out before the February runoff also.
Chico seems to be the only candidate that has
a chance to run against Emanuel and win. I think
Rahm will be an even bigger dictator/Mayor than
Shortshanks if he gets in office, if that is even
possible.

Plus, people feel a bit Independant these days.
I am not sure of how the numbers would work with the primary and that might be the killer for this so-called Repub...remember Bernie Epton---he came within shouting distance.

My wife and two daughters made their own choice independent to mine. I did have to convince them to vote for who they thought was their best choice and not base it on "who was likely to win" and the idiotic logical fallacy of "well if I vote for Hu then he isn't likely to win and thus I wasted my vote". This isn't a horse race, vote for the candidate you think will best serve Chicago. I encourage you to look at his background and ideas. Even now, if an illegal works for your company under a bullshit social security number, hold the company responsible and make them pay whatever taxes are owed. "Y even vote. Hes gonna win . Cant stand the guy but hes the best qualified, and capable of bringing alot od shit to illinois. Its ashamed we cant trust our fop but we should know by now if theyve spoken to him and what he can do 4 the police. He might hate the poice but promised Mark something who in return would make him seem like the right choice. Its ashamed we only have one choice for unions. I think no company should be stuck with only one choice 4 unions.

"I don't know about a Repub not winning...

12/26/2010 01:27:00 PM"

1. there are no republicans running.

2. the election is an open one, as in, whoever filed their petitions by the deadline, since passed, and managed to not get knocked off by the election board, and doesn't drop out before the election is held, are the only candidates on the ballot.

3. this is how the democratic machine solved their past problem, (eliminating party primaries), said past party primaries which resulted in Jane Byrne getting elected once and Harold Washington getting elected twice. no more only 3 candidate democratic party primary elections, with the top vote getter winning the democratic party primary, with less than 50%
+ 1 votes, and, thus, going one on one with the typically pathetic offering of the spayed and neutered city and county republicans. now it's the general election and, if no single candidate gets 50% + 1 of the votes cast, the top 2 vote getters go mano a mano in a runoff election. for there to be a republican making it to the run off, there would have to be a republican running in the open general election.

there isn't, is there?

Emmanuel made a few comments on the Channel 11 talkshow that he would have to change things in the city pensions, not only for new hires, but for present employees and retirees. Think FOP and po and firemen should question him about this when he hits the firehouses and stations. He was talki9ng about higher contributions and lowering benefit. Would be nice to hear is plans for the pensions and get it out in the open

The Admiral Theatre is going to be busy. Very good. Actually as a citizen troller my bet is he hooks up with some bag from Winnetka or Wilmete. You know, someone who is involved in supporting Rahm from the safety of the suburbs. And who also has always had a thing for Bill since she read about the giz dress.

in most elections, folks vote for the best, or who they think are the best (or maybe the least worst); in Chicago/Cook County, home of one party......
Bill: I'm going to stump for Rahm..
staffer: but the media is reporting that integrity and morality is a key to the elections.....
Bill: who said that? fire that guy! and, where's my cigar?...

Why would Bill Clinton come to Chicago to help out Rahm when so many elected officials supporting Rahmbo threw Hillary under the bus?

Rahm was an advisor to Clinton during his presidency

It well appears that so many of you see shadows following you.
So f'ing what if the former President is going to help the so to be mayor.
Rahm will not play anyones game. He will have heads rolling and it will be so fine to see the old Irish guard steam.

ey genius, where does Federal money come from? Do the feds operate some kind of buisness that produces income? Clinton had a windfall of money due to taxes from start up internet buisness's which are now mostly defunked. So we should rob the rest of the country for the benefit of the shit hole that is Chicago and Crook county. You are a true patriot. Idiot

Well actually they do its called taxes that's the governments source of income idiot. And as far as your internet theory. Internet business pays more taxes now than any other time since its invention. You mustve got your economics degree from university of phoenix. And since I live in Chicago, yes we should rob the rest of the country to give money to the city.

Rahm is a nice guy and pro police.
He can probaly shake the federal money tree and bring some money to Chicago. We have abetter shot at saving the pension with Rahm than the other candidates. When deciding whonto vote for, think about the future of our pension fund. Not much else matters. Rahm has said that he is going to drive Jodie to the airport on his first day in office.

YEAH AND WHO IS DRIVING RAHM, YOU??

The politicians crying about pensions is bs. They are using the real estate down turn and any excuse not to fund the pensions. If Daley kept funding the pension over the yrs. we wouldn't be where we are at today. Not our problem, fund it now!!
The government can pay my social security to those that don't work. Link cards and free rides to those that don't work. Flood victim money doled out on the south and west side, how they were flooded im stilling trying to figure that out.
Not one news station did a story on the long lines waiting for fed. money on the west side while trying to figure out where the fraud was. Fraud in wall street, fraud in the housing market, fraud in government and all the politicians getting their war chests and pensions, not one of them going to jail.
Our pensions will be there and funded!! No excuses

The Crystal Ball Unit has predicted that there will also be a meeting between Downtown Ernie Brown and Slick Willie. DTEB was heard in the halls of Headquarters saying that his "chick magnet hero" was cumming into town and he wanted some of dat magick to rub off on him. DTEB can share a few stories about the playboy mansion and his days as an assistant manager at McDonald's. And Slick can talk about the oval office and fine azz cigars.

Will we see DTEB smoking cigars and dating women in blue dresses next??? HO HO HO

Lock up your women and children, no one is safe.

The perfect hat trick, errrrr storm would be if R Kelly was intown at the sametime. There would be alot of hibbity jibbity going on!

On a serious note, I do agree, in the Clinton years, he got funding to put many Officer's on the streets around the country and in CPD. To this day I believe that is the ONLY good thing he did in his tenure as President and First Pimp!

You are dreaming. Rahm is anti police pension, anti police salary, he has said he will work to reduce the pensions of existing employees.

Rahm Emmanuel is NOT pro police.

Wrong, He benefited from Reagans trickle down economics. Follow your politics and history and become a educated voter

12/26/2010 12:20:00 PM

@ 12:20 --Thank you, I'm so sick of hearing this myth of Clinton getting credit for the economic boom of the '90s. He comletely inherited it after GHW Bush got roasted when the Reagan policies took a while to reach fruition.

It will be a shame to see the same old Democrat machine continue to run this city into the ground.
