And Then There Were....

  • State Sen. James Meeks has dropped out of the mayoral race.

In an e-mail sent to media Thursday afternoon, Meeks — who also heads Salem Baptist Church on the South Side — said he was ending his campaign.

Meeks met with mayoral challengers U.S. Rep. Danny Davis and former U.S. Senator Carol Moseley Braun Wednesday in a last-ditch effort to unite behind a consensus black candidate, the Sun-Times reported. Davis said after the meeting it was possible one or more candidates would drop out, but a spokesman for Meeks denied he would exit the race.

Good riddance to the so-called "reverend." Now he can go back to extorting money in the name of "education" and "the children" and whatever the grievance of the day happens to be.

There are a few reasons that Meeks dropped out. One is that he is an ignorant racist asshat. His actions and comments prove that, and it was becoming obvious to everyone. Another is that he really lives in South Holland, not Chicago. Unlike Rahm, he can't claim that he was in the service of the president as an excuse for residency. And as you said SCC, he can continue his extortion scemes and hide under the protection of his "church."

What about the strip club out south off the Bishop Ford that is like a second home to Rev. Meeks? How come no one has snapped a cell phone pic of him in there enjoying the talent on the brass pole. I hear he has a piece of that action, no pun intended.

For all of you fools who think Rahm isn't bad for us because he had family on the job or whatever other excuse you come up with.

Here's what he said on Chicago Tonight in November of this year about your pensions:

Pension reform: Emanuel suggested that not only should the city start new police and firefighters with lower benefits, it should re-examine the benefits of current employees.
“It’s not an honest system for the people who are in it, because these benefits are something we’re going to have a difficult time keeping, and it’s not an honest system to the taxpayer, because we’re going to ask them to do something they’re not capable of doing…They’re not on a sustainable course. We have to have an honest discussion about the changes that are going to be necessary.”

The real story should be what scam this guy is running. Get a bunch of phony signatures on a petition, have them notorized illegally and raise a ton of "campaign donations" - then drop out on the last day you can. So what happens with all the money he raised? Shouldn't he have to give it all back? Scam artist! No, he gets to keep it in his "war chest."

I will vote for Carol when she is the last one standing. They are pretty transparent. Bobby Rush? Come on. They may as well have put up Homey the clown.

She will get my vote for two reasons:
-she is not Rahm
-she will be so bad that the whole 'white guilt' thing might have to be re-thought by the idiots that keep charlatans like her from being booted into obscurity where they belong

What if the white people crowned a "consensus" mayoral hopeful? They would be bitchn up a storm. How about everyone vote for who they think is the most qualified. Meeks wants to divide this city.

Wonder what Rev Jamie is getting out of the deal?
Rammer too smart to use cash, Federal Grants?,
zoning for five new churches? Fannie Mae low interest for the Rev's new home in Highland Park? No college tuition downstate for the next two generations of Meeks?
Head of the Federal Housing Administration in the next Bama administration?
Multiple Pigford checks for his whole family?

Just askin

The Meeks, Mosley-Brauns, and Davis' of the world are selling a lot of Black voters short. By that I mean it seems they're of the mind that ALL blacks will vote for either of them, if for no other reason than skin color. They couldn't be wrong. I'm black, and I wouldn't vote for either. Meeks is an out and out racist, as evidenced by his ignorant ass statement regarding what should be the defintion of a minority. Mosley-Braun, quite frankly, is a warmed over politcal has been, who has a lot of skeletons in her closet, as you may recall. Danny Davis'time has long ago passed...if he ever had one to begin with. He's nothing more than a more well spoken Ed Smith...another westside political hack. Despite what the media's hinting, if you ask most Blacks, you will find that Rahm is their 1st choice. The above mentioned candidates know this. Which is why they, more than either of the Hispanic candidates, want Rahm off the ballot.

True enough, as predicted by those in the know -Meeks is out...but why? What did he get from Rahm? A little birdie says Rahm promised him a black educator to fill the CPS CEO spot plus vouchers. Look for Meeks to call on the AA candidates to withdraw and support Rahm for the "good of the THEIR people" blah blah. As a city we are lost - look at the alternatives to Rahm...DeValle (put in to split the Hispanic vote from Chico); Chico - made $2.5M from consulting in 2010 from businesses that intend or want to do businesss with the city; Mosley Braun & Davis are jokes...I'm saddened that the best and brightest sit back and allow this nonsense to happen - SILENT MAJORITY RISE UP AND RECLAIM YOUR VOICE AND RIGHTS!

Meeks & Braun would have to provide city ethics statements, thus exposing more of their unreported income. Expect Braun to concede to Davis, after a couple more fund raisers. But then again Davis may drop
out too, seeing Meeks & Braun walk away with their campaign pockets filled, and the IRS looks the other way. Who out has seen any of their campaign ads? Which one spent over $20 so far? Rahm and Chico the only serious candidates making an effort. Nice little racket.
Once again, this City isn't ready for reform - nor could it afford it.

Amen!! Racist storefront preachers/snake oil salesman have no place in government. If you need a laugh check out his mayoral survey answers on fop site. Apparently like his quote from last week he feels Black people are the only group/neighborhoods that need to be serviced by police. Maybe he'd pick Mary Mitchell for superintendent. Get in your caddy and head back to your church. Try not to get stopped for traffic violations on the way so you wont have to get out of the limo and play the race card. Good riddance rev

now, now, poor baby, no need to be sad, there are still a few options left, besides suicide:

* Tyrone Carter, music producer and author
* Gery Chico, former chairman of the City Colleges of Chicago
* Danny K. Davis, U.S. Representative from Illinois's 7th district
* Wilfredo De Jesús, Assemblies of God congregation leader
* Miguel del Valle, city clerk
* Rahm Emanuel, former White House Chief of Staff and former U.S. Representative from Illinois's 5th district
* John Hu, real estate broker
* Carol Moseley Braun, former U.S. Senator from Illinois
* Fenton C. Patterson
* Howard Ray, Chicago police officer
* Patricia Van Pelt-Watkins, non-profit administrator and activist
* William "Dock" Walls III, community activist and former aide to Mayor Harold Washington
* Fredrick K. White, truck driver, Department of Streets and Sanitation, Bureau of Forestry[4]

the opportunity to have another 'lympics moment is still there.

you just have to find it.

Take a look at Miguel del Valle's questionnaire on the FOP's web site.

http://www.chicagofop.org/mayoral/mayoral_qa.html

del Valle is the only candidate sounding realistic about police issues. The FOP asks him about being 1,000 officers short and del Valle replied that sounds low, he guesses we are ever shorter. Bravo for him.

I am not Hispanic but after reading his questionaire he has my vote.

Go read those things.

"If Daley sometimes abused his power, it didn't offend most Chicagoans. The people who came here in Daley's lifetime were accustomed to somebody wielding power like a club, be it a czar, emperor, king or rural sheriff. The niceties of the democratic process weren't part of the immigrant experience. So if the Machine muscle offended some, it seemed like old times to many more."

"Eventually, Daley made the remarkable transition from political boss to father figure. Maybe he couldn't have been a father figure in Berkeley, Calif., Princeton, N.J., or even Skokie, Ill. But in Chicago there was nothing unusual about a father who worked long hours, meant shut up when he said shut up, and backed it up with a jolt to the head. …"

"He's left behind the ingredients of the best political donnybrook we've had in 50 years."

— Mike Royko, Chicago Daily News,

Dec. 21, 1976.
