Stop Whining George

What kind of dirt does George Ryan have on Thompson that he can get Big Jim to keep running to court, for free no less, to plead his case?
  • Former Gov. Jim Thompson, a longtime friend and lawyer of George Ryan, said Monday "as a matter of humanity" the convicted governor's suffering in prison should be put to an end.

"In my view, George Ryan has been punished enough. He has lost everything," Thompson said. "The only thing that George and Lura Lynn have left is their lives . . . their love for each other, their family and their friends. Everything else has been taken from them.

"I think as a matter of humanity that sentence is long enough."

But as a matter in "truth in sentencing," Ryan has a few more years to go. Sorry Mrs. Ryan has to bear the fallout of George's bad choices, but that's the risk you take when you hang out with thieves.

Thompson was a bigger crook in office than ryan ever thought of being. If Ryan ever told what he knows about Big Jim, that mutt would be in the next cell.

The difference between Ryan and Thompson is that one was a corrupt politician and the other is in prison. One got caught, the other one makes big bucks as rainmaker for a large law firm after his years as a "that's how we do it in Illinois" style governor.

I feel bad for Lura, next time take an active interest in the family finances by asking George "how are we taking all these trips and not a dime is leaving our bank account"

try telling that to the family who lost six children in a fiery expressway crash caused by a driver who should not have been licensed to drive a commercial vehicle--- while george ryan did not kill these children, his office allowed individuals to obtain licenses for the right sum of money---- if george ryans kids were killed by this same person under the same circumstances would big jim be calling for an early release from prison......

It would be an absolute travesty of justice to release him early... not because such cases might have merit on occasion, but because for every George Ryan in prison, there's Joe Blow in prison who sold dope, beat someone up or whatever, and he lost everything too but wouldn't stand a snowballs chance in hell of ever receiving such 'early release' considerations for those reasons.

In order for justice to be fair, it must be blind. Yeah, George. Everyone in your cel block 'lost everything' too. Shitty life decisions tend to have that effect.

Where are Big Jim’s words for Ryan’s victims ? Ryan still has more then they do, he is alive.

Fuck him! He should have to finish his sentence. I'm so sick of crooks getting pardoned. Do the crime, do the time. If you don't like the consequences - DON'T DO ILLEGAL SHIT in the first place, morons!

I don't care if George has an ivitation to the second comming. He needs to do his time just like dude in Pontiac would. Maybe the mrs. can arrange a conjugal visit.

Did Lura Lynn ever once question the big wads of hard cash her tanned husband carried around? Did the family ever wonder how they got to live large on a public servant's salary?

Did George Ryan ever once take responsibility or express true remorse for the death of the Willis children?

We all know the answers.

Rot in prison George. You will see your pal Big Jim Thompson soon enough. "Big Jim" has enough scratch to take you to Gibsons for a great big t-bone with the trimmings, like the old days.

THANK YOU, SCC, I've said that from the very beginning. Winston & Strawn a super high profile law firm with offices all over including Chicago, NY, CA and Paris with one of the highest rates to match, defended Ryan at his original trial for gratis.
They merely waved those tens of MILLIONS of dollars in fees out of the goodness of their lawyer hearts... yeah sure.
George Ryan has knowledge of what's in that proverbial closet and I'm not talking about Huberman either.

Yep Gov. Grumpy has lost everything
except the conviction that he
has'nt done anything wrong and
therefore feels no remorse.

In Big Jim's opinion Ryan has suffered enough? Who cares about Big Jim's opinion? Thompson didn't get caught and almost ruined Winston & Straun trying to keep his name out of the trial.

Ryan is where he belongs and it would be a travesty of justice to let him out. I can't think of a more horrifying way to die than to be burned alive with my siblings.

Do you think Big Jim Thompson and his bucktoothed buddy would go to federal court and tell a judge that Bill Cozzi has suffered enough? I highly doubt it because Bill was only a good cop not career criminal/politician.

Big Jim took his graft in antiques not cash.

Thompson wasn't this sympathetic when he was US Attorney and sending old timers and family men to the joint for obscure interpretations of federal laws that were enacted to fight organized crime. Let Ryan rot.

please...like Mrs Ryan didnt know what ws going on??? I seem to remember during the trial the prosecution showing that the Ryans did not withdraw money from their checking or savings accounts for damn near a decade! The proved he took bribes, there are no grounds to reverse his sentence, rot in jail George, and Mrs Ryan either knew about the bribes or just turned a blind eye...either way the Ryans made their bed, time to lay in it!

Mrs Ryan benefited from her hubbie's criminality.

Wah, wah, wah.

I have no problem releasing plenty of people from prison. All kinds of people there for stupid shit for too long. George Ryan is NOT included in that 'plenty'.

I can think of another political wife who is worse that Mrs Ryan.

Maggie Daley has not only benefited from her husband's mayoralty, but many of her friends got contracts at O'Hare.

As far as I know Mrs Ryan never played an active role in hubby's BS.

Let him rot, FUCK his wife. For years they both enjoyed the good life even at the expense of a reverends 6 kids that Ryan was NEVER sorry for. He must be still held to a HIGHER STANDARD just like the POLICE. If he gets to go free then free BILL COZZI!!

Keep in mind Mrs Ryan also benefited from the Gov's pilfery. If I remember correctly, the evidence came out that the Ryans never cashed a check over a 3 year period and took out ATM withdrawls totaling $900 over that same time period.

Lots of cash stashed in the mattress.

CROOKS!!!

That whole driver's license payoffs was not invented by George Ryan.
On my 16th birthday, Dad took me for my license, the guy wanted money or wouldn't pass me. My Dad said no and I didn't pass.
That was 1968. I got the license the next day from an honest state worker.

Hey Former Gov. Thompson how about when u sucessfully indicted an innocent man, threatened his family, his friends, his career, his future with threats of jail time all so you could push yourself up the political ladder, yeah he stood up to you & your cronies he stood trial and was aquitted:declared not guilty of the specific offense, charges or crimes; legally blameless; "he stands acquitted on all charges"; "the jury found him not guilty. In the common law tradition, an acquittal formally certifies the innocence of the man you accused, you threatened. You overgrown weak, yes so very weak piece of garbage. He finished his career proudly and is living a healthy life in retirement. IYet now you plea for the release of RYAN.......You P.O.S.
Dyla Hata......
You suck, he completed his career with honor, retired and living a healthy life.

This is the big con. Why do you think Thompson's Law Firm gave Ryan a million dollar defense team. Ryan was Secretary of State under Thompson, and knows where all the skeletons and coffee cans are buried. A few sentences out of Ryan's mouth and Thompson et al will join him. Why do you think Ryan let all the convicted murderers out of prison while he was being investigated. He wanted to known as "George the Just," win the Noble Prize with the help of Northwestern's Protess, (wrongful conviction farce) and screw the CPD. To hell with Ryan, Thompson, Webb, Daley, and all the rest. We are hurting, and these bums are out antique hunting.

To be more precise, it was a $20 million dollar defense. And each partner had to pony up at least a quarter million to pay for it. Many grumbled but "Big Jim" reminded them who makes the most rain and told them to shut up.

Shouldn't that liver lip mother fucker have to pay taxes on his free defense? Did the law firm that defended Lonesome George get a tax write-off for defending him? Just asking. I don't want to see George in prison. I want to see him under the prison.

Ryan, Thompson and Webb. I refer to them as the Unholy Trinity. I suspect if we ever knew the real truth, regarding these men, it would peel the paint from the walls.
