Rumors Rumors Everywhere

Two with some real meat on them.
  • From the buzz at 35th Street FOX has gotten their hands on list of Exempts that can not get a Top Security clearance due to their off duty personal behavior ie. E.B , etc. How can people lead the second biggest police department and not have a Top Security clearance for debriefings from the Feds.
How indeed? We all know the answer, though Daley has managed to keep the tame media types from publishing it for two decades now.
  • Hey scc ,
I'm bored and sitting in the pod watching room that is open to the public. I see that there is a sign in sheet, I'm bored so just for shits and giggles I put the peoples names in to clear that signed in to watch the pods. And [guess] what 7 out of 10 of them have an average of 17 arrests and 6 of them are on parole. What a joke this shit is, how can henny penny let this shit go on.
This one would be hilarious if true. People with criminal records being sent into the POD rooms to conduct surveillance? Seeing which PODS are down, seeing the field of vision provided by the cameras, finding new and better spots to hide from view rendering millions of dollars worth of equipment completely and utterly useless, because someone wants to play footsie with the "reverends?" Pardon our laughter.

That is one hell of a way to reduce crime. Imagine someone who just got robbed and of course the bad guys take the victim's cell phone too. The victim borrows a good citizen's cell phone or calls from a gas station. You go on scene look for the victim and you can't find anyone. You ask "squad, I need a call back". Squad responds "we can't do any call backs". It's a plus for the city, no call back = no victim and no victim = no crime.

------The above comment is very believable. The gangbangers do want to know information on how the pods work, how far they can see, what capabilities they have, can they hear sound, can they detect gunshots, etc. The gangs have these intelligence gathering guys in their gang in order to do business. And if you don't believe this then you are not worth your salt. A few years back, we had an informant who we found out later on, whose sole purpose was to give us information but also to scope the police station out, the covert vehicles, etc... That is why we laugh when the two year wonders are quick to bring these informants into the station to identify photos thinking they are gonna get the big fish. Remember they have a hidden agenda and would send grandma to jail quicker then you can say IHAVEBEENSUCKERED.

the bad guys definatly do not think that pod cameras are a threat at all. In fact, the bad guys use the pod cameras to their advantage. you will see groups of dudes standing directly underneath a pod camera for hours and hours. You know they are dirty and they know they are dirty. the hide the work around the corner in the alley and take the customers back there. they know if they are under a camera the police wont jump out on them... if you do jump out on them under a pod, you need to get your head examined.

Citizen Pod Watchers in 011 - Fact vs. Fiction

FACT: 011 has dedicated real estate and equipment resources for watching Pod cameras.

FACT: The "Pod Camera room" is to be staffed by police personnel 24/7.

FACT: Authorized, trusted community members will be able to volunteer time as a "citizen Pod watcher."

FICTION: Any citizen can just come in and watch Pod cameras whenever they feel like it.

FACT: Volunteer citizen Pod watchers must first successfully complete a CPD background check.

FACT: Volunteer citizen Pod watchers must first be trained by CPD on Pod camera viewing equipment.

FACT: Volunteer citizen Pod watchers must pre-schedule their participation time through the Community Policing Sergeant.

FACT: Watch Commanders will be notified in advance of authorized, scheduled participants.

FACT: Authorized citizen Pod watchers must present photo identification upon arrival.

FACT: Citizen Pod watchers will always be under the direct supervision of a sworn member.

FACT: Citizens Pod watchers will not be permitted to monitor Pod cameras unsupervised.

FICTION: Citizens are already participating as authorized Pod watchers in 011.

FACT: The first authorized citizen Pods watchers will not be coming out until early December.

FACT: Background checks and training of citizen Pod watchers in 011 are still "in-progress."

FACT: The CPD background check of citizen volunteers is nothing new. CPD has been pre-screening citizen volunteers for various programs since the 1970's.

FACT: History - 014 had a "citizen volunteer CB radio patrol" back in the late 1970's, which I participated in as a citizen volunteer. I had to submit to a background check prior to my participation.

FACT: History - 008 had similar citizen volunteer CB radio patrols when I served as a sergeant there in the 1990's. I was responsible for coordinating the citizen volunteer background checks back then. Some volunteers did not pass the required background checks. They were not authorized or permitted to participate.

FACT: Local law enforcement agencies have historically solicited community participation in crime prevention strategies, to be "the eyes and ears" in their neighborhoods, reporting suspicious activity to police.

FACT: Technology is presenting additional opportunities for trusted citizens to continue assisting their police - by being those additional "eyes and ears."

FACT: Authorized, trusted citizens, assisting police as volunteer Pod watchers are no different than those authorized, trusted citizens of the past who participated in neighborhood watch programs, organized block clubs, citizen radio patrols, beat facilitators, district advisory committee members.

FACT: Authorized, trusted citizens, who are pre-screened and trained by CPD to be volunteer Pod watchers are most likely people who actually give a damn about their neighborhoods.

Work safe!

To ADD to the Lt. Andrews theme:

Fact: The first person or Jamoke(sp) or any(POD watcher)Officer that CLICKS on the scene or POD that is closest to the crime scene, FIRST is the user that will be controlling the whole thing. Until they let go of the control.

In other words these idiots could hamper any "surveillance" or view of MANY that want to scan the scene at the time of a MAJOR INCIDENT.

It is a "glitch" that has not been ironed out yet in the software ...I figure City funds are low I guess to fix this issue.

In lay terms the first person who clicks on the scene via computer gains ultimate control until he/she realeases the MOUSE.

If they do not release the mouse they retain control and possibly hamper the viewing of many.

There needs to be a "spot" that can take "ULTIMATE CONTROL" at any given time or there is a chance of CHAOS at any given time!

The "secret camera watchers" that are assigened at 35th st. to do what those on the 3rd flr. are assigned to do at the OEMC have to BATTLE already with each other if you all did not know as any incident occurs.

BUT....

Camera control BATTLES can ensue with anyone using the computer any supervisor, officer, desk worker, detective, 011th Dist.POD JAMOKE (sp) or anyone with access to control the camera that could help out in an investigation or surveillance of whatever is being monitored.

Glitches everywhere...maybe the City hasn't paid their bills to the ones putting in the software yet...

Go figure

I hope you are not serious about a majority of this post. Actually, I'm hoping this is not the actual Lt Andrews posting...

First off, who is doing these backgroud checks? Is it the same people that checked P.O. GA formerly of 011, you know, the guy who was "robbed" of his unauthorized weapon and failed to report it to YOU until 12 hours later? The same guy who got pinched in MI with a quantity of cannabis, then got pinched on the southside after calling in a bogus robbery after getting shorted on a bag of weed he sold, and was subsequently charged with filing a false report and possession of Cannabis? The same guy who had a UUW arrest as a juvenile, has UVL tatoos, and has been known to frequent known dope spots all over the west side? Or is it a different guy running the background check? I would go on with more and more examples, but if you are the real deal, you don't need them; you know. Those who conduct background checks and pass these clowns should be brought up on charges of inattention to duty and bringing discredit upon the department. If they allow even a few of these fools to wear a star and carry a gun, I'd hate to see what civillian they will deem authorized to watch a frigging camera.

Her liver failure was caused by Hepatitis C. The majority of Hep C patients got it from IV drug use. She also was an alcoholic which no doubt hastened the failure of her liver. In addition to murderer, add drug addict/abuser and alcoholic.

What the hell was so attractive about her life? A few years of fast living, some years in prison and a lousy miserable death at 52. No thanks.
