Peters Arrangements?

We've been looking around, but can't seem to find anything for Stephen Peters, the other victim in the Flisk murder. Anyone seen anything?

"Free on parole"...

Makes me sick, if this animal was still in his cage, where it belongs, tow decent citicens of this City would still be with us.

Unfortunately nothing on arrangements, SCC, but here's a good story giving some additional background on the crime and on Steven Peters.

Widow of murdered ex-cop: 'Right now my heart is torn'

November 28, 2010

BY MAUREEN O¹DONNELL AND MARY WISNIEWSKI Staff Reporters

Minutes before Stephen Peters and Chicago Police Officer Michael Flisk were gunned down at the garage where Peters’ prized Mustang was broken into, Peters had found parts from the car in a garbage can nearby.

“He said, ‘They’ve got parts in the garbage can, so I know [the thieves] are going to come back later’ ’’ to retrieve them, said his mother, Laura Peters.

After hearing the shots that killed Peters, 44 and Flisk, 46 — the decorated officer who responded to the burglary call alone — Laura Peters looked out her back window toward the garage where her son stored his car.

“I heard the shots,” she said. “I saw the guy running in the alley with the garbage can,” she said, miming how he swung it to move it.

She expressed disbelief at the boldness of the murders. Flisk “was in uniform. They just don’t care no more.”

Her son’s widow, Djana “DJ” Peters, remained in shock Saturday.

Laura Peters said her son originally called police after discovering someone had broken into her garage in the 8100 block of South Burnham and stolen a TV, stereo and seats from the car. The thief broke a window of the vehicle, but the key was left in the ignition, she said. It couldn’t be driven, because the vehicle required entry of a coded combination to start it, she said.

Peters said her son, a graduate of South Shore High School, didn’t drink or smoke. “Ever since he was little, he wanted to be a po-lice” officer, she said. After stints as an officer for the CHA and the city of Robbins, he worked for AT&T as an engineer. He has a son, 18, and two grown stepsons.

Stephen and Djana met on a blind date and had been married for two years and lived in Forest Park. He enjoyed spoiling his family: after Stephen was gunned down, police asked Djana to move a truck that was outside.

That is how she learned he’d bought her a new truck for Christmas. It had been hidden outside his mother’s home...

Still nothing from the "king of crime" and the 50 cowards! Even oily eddie burke no comment, the big mouth talks about bullshit all the time, and with his huge police bodyguard detail you would think he had something to say!

Maybe an account can get started to raise funds for that family as well. I feel just as sad for them.

Hey, thanks, this is good info, time enough for a shout out to Robbins IL -- you on the frequency? He must have had friends there too who'd not want to miss this.

50 might be a bit low, I bet the number is more like 100. I run accross 10 or 15 in my normal acivities.

It's a damn shame there is so much violent crime on the south side of our city. This one in particular was just a senseless act of viciousness.

Hey SCC, thanks for looking out for one that's not exactly our own. Peters never worked for CPD, but your tireless effort, making space available here and keeping his story front and center on this blog are appreciated by his old co-workers.
