Philadelphia Loses Another

Seven officers since 2006.

DomeLights and Katey'sKafe, both links which are in our right hand column, have memorial pages up and we encourage everyone to head over and offer their prayers for the deceased and his pregnant wife.

We are also aware of the blog which celebrates the death of police officers, but we are not going to link to it. A number of blogs have advertising programs that pay based on the number of visits a particular blog gets. We aren't going to send a few hundred of our followers anywhere near that crap site lest someone actually profit from the death of an officer. Any mention of that site will be deleted out of hand.

Prayers and well wishes for the fallen only in this thread.

SPeople wonder why police officers "are the way they are". "Why are police so lazy?" "Why do the police harass me for no reason?" Or I love hearing the "I was pulled over by this asshole cop." For all the "Non Police" readers check out this link

This is just one story that "we" officers see happen OVER and OVER throughout our career. It is frustrating to work hard, miss your family, and risk your life when the results often mirror that article. If you were in construction and you couldn't finish building a house for 5 years because someone burned it to the ground every time you were ready to start trimming it out wouldn't you get frustrated? Thats about the best analogy I have and it's not even close to the feeling police have day in and day out walking out of court.

My heart goes out to the Widow of Officer John Pawlowski and his unborn child. No words can convey the sorrow in my heart for you both.

Wow! Reading the account leading up to Officer Pawlowski's death made me cry. People have no respect for what we do, but yet want us to fix all of thier problems.

God's speed to Officer Pawlowski and keep his family, friends and co-workers safe and in your prayers.

To Chief Ramsey, way to go! Don't sugarcoat what this POS is or did. May he burn in hell!

Be safe out there everybody!

Doesn't take much for us to realize that 14yr olds, Cuellos's, Abbate's, Jfeds, etc... don't mean much when we are given such tragic news.
To all our brothers in blue in Philly our deepest sympathies and prayers are with you and the family of Officer Pawloski

I mourn the death of any decent young person. Cop, soldier, or civilian. It's bad enough because of disease or accident, but murder is unspeakable.

I saw a trailer on HBO for a movie based on the story of a Marine escorting a fallen Marine home.

It brought tears to my eyes.

The murder of Officer Pawlowski is horrific. I have no words. My prayers and thoughts are for his family and loved ones.

Rest In Peace Brother. You stepped up to a line we all know all too well and most to all others run from. We are few but we are strong in mind and soul. Today, our hearts are filled with loss and sadness over youre untimely death.May the good Lord Above guide youre Family and Child in their lives. And when my time comes make sure you save me a spot at roll call up there as we're all still down here fighting like hell.

Blessed are the Peacekeepers as we are the Sons of God.

Last year, four Philadelphia officers were killed in the line of duty.

In May, 39-year-old Officer Stephen Liczbinski was fatally shot responding to a bank robbery. In September, 40-year-old Officer Isabel Nazario was killed during a vehicle pursuit when the patrol car she was riding in was broadsided by a teenager driving a stolen SUV. Also in September, 30-year-old Officer Patrick McDonald was fatally shot by a fugitive he had chased down after a traffic stop.

In November, Sgt. Timothy Simpson died after his cruiser was broadsided by a vehicle whose driver was allegedly fleeing police.

In October 2007, Officer Chuck Cassidy, 54, was fatally shot when he interrupted a robbery at a Dunkin' Donuts. Cassidy had worked in the same district as Pawlowski.

In May 2006, Officer Gary Skerski became the first officer killed in the line of duty in Philadelphia in a decade.
